Outdated Administrivia Pages

I made some tweaks to Zero-Context Example to improve sentence flow, apply consistent use of pronouns, and organize the list from least-to-most in terms of explanation. I also added another "good" example, put in dividing lines, and added Show, Don't Tell to the "See Also" section.

The Wick Namespace Migration of Square Peg, Round Trope is complete.

Also, in my opinion, Flame Bait should also be in the Administrivia namespace. It is a policy page of tropes to avoid mentioning anywhere on the wiki (although it can also refer to anything that can cause a Flame War in general).

On https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/family_friendly.php, the first "the" shouldn't be capitalized. Also, the part about marking "mature content" should be removed since we no longer have a curtain for mature content, and part of it should be reworded as "We can talk about media which is racy. We just can't be the racy media." to remove awkward parentheses.

I...have never even seen that page.

It also isn't a typical wiki page, so that's not something a mod could edit.

It's very strange. Must be a very old holdover from the past.

Pinging ~drewski and ~itcdr since it looks like that page requires an admin to edit it. By the way, Family Friendly redirects there.

Is it even worth keeping? We can say basically the same thing on No Lewdness, No Prudishness just as easily.

To me, the term "Family Friendly" is a farce when we discuss a number of topics that are decided not family-friendly by their very nature. Maybe "safe for work" would be a better term, since young children probably shouldn't be on this website? Otherwise, it's time to send Gag Boobs, Compensating for Something, South Park, and High School Dx D to the Cut List.

This page is probably the most outdated of the outdated. It's like an ancient relic. We're just fine without it, and we could easily make a new, better page.

Should Pages Needing Images and List Of Shows That Need Summary also be moved to Administrivia? I also never liked the latter name; perhaps move it to something like Works Needing Pages?

Please put Tropes Are Tools in the Administrivia namespace. It is a policy page that is for some reason in the Main namespace.

Found another page that should be administrivia: Walkthrough Mode

Also, A Guide to Easy Launching of Your TLP has this line:

• Don't hit the launch button until you have the page up. That way, you can avoid the "Blank launch" problem.

This is a holdover from an older time and should be removed.

Moved those pages to Administrivia, except for Walkthrough Mode, which seems to be serving a similar purpose to Wall of Text.

Just a reminder that I have this thread pinned, but am not necessarily going to be staying on top of stuff.

So, should we repoint all the Main.Tropes Are Tools redirects to the Administrivia version?

I'd say make Administrivia duplicates of them and then point them all to Administrivia.Tropes Are Tools to maintain any old links makes on the forums and such.

I changed Tropes Are Not Bad and Tropes Are Not Good to redirect to Administrivia; the others have no wicks, and I don't see the need to create Administrivia duplicate redirects.

Cutting the un-re-targetted ones as low use.

Doesn't anyone think Pot Hole should be more descriptive with when they are and aren't necessary?

I think Wick is outdated because I don't beleive we consider numbers as low as 14 to be "minimum health" anymore.

Change the minimum to a certain fraction of a percent of the number of catalogued works?

Change it to the nice round number of 20?

On How to Pick a Good Image, aren't all images supposed to be on the right side now?

• Pages with quotes should have the image on the right side (you can learn how to do this on Text-Formatting Rules).
• If the image is rather tall, move it to the right as well.

Subjective Tropes seems to be outdated, since there are such things as actual tropes (not Audience Reactions) which go on a work's YMMV page. For example, Complete Monster and The Woobie.

If it were up to me, I'd find a way to make these tropes objective, but as it stands it's incorrect to say "A trope is either objectively there or it is not there".
