Well everything shown so far seems to point against the comic twist of Black Noir being a Homelander clone who gaslit him into insanity.

I mean, Homelander has clearly been the Big Bad since jump.

I think Stormfront will ingratiate herself to him to a certain degree, but I also dont see her surviving as long as him.

She might not make it out of the season, really.

Stormfront was a freaking Nazi in the comic... I can't see her being curbstomped to death but she is definitely going to die.

@Beatman I just noticed in Black Noir's bio on the Amazon splash page his height and weight are listed as "Unknown (it frequently changes)"; to me that strongly implies some sort of Legacy Character thing going on.

Wow, I did not see (I refuse to make the obvious pun there) that coming with Stormfront.

It makes a lot of sense, all things considered and is an interesting nod to the comics.

She's literally named Stormfront, what else would you expect with a title like that?

I was talking about the reveal in episode 4 about her past.

She shares a name with a far right white-supremacist tabloid. I don't know if this was originally intentional since I think the comics predate it, but its a very fitting double meaning

Pretty sure you’re still missing that they’re talking about her age not her Nazi ideology.

Yeah. I think it's very likely she was one of Vought's original experiments/the first successful compound V test subject...Though that carries certain Interesting Implications if true given that V was being tested on concentration camp inmates. That's just about the only shred of sympathy I could see being added to Stormfront's backstory.

So episode 5 is out. Anyone thinking Noir might actually be Butcher's brother Lenny? At this point we can safely say that he isn't a Homelander clone given he's not even bulletproof*, and Butcher's aunt conveniently gets interrupted before explaining what happened to him by the booby traps going off. He could also potentially be a brainwashed and rebranded "Soldier Boy", that's another theory I saw.

* Interestingly, he seems to have the exact same power set as Kimiko: speed/strength + a Healing Factor.

The first five minutes make fun of Joss Whedon rewrites, fears from the anti-woke crowd and Real Is Brown. Very nice.

I was thinking the same thing about Lenny. They left us hanging on what happened to him. I feel like it would be too obvious a twist if Lenny was Black Noir though .

I also enjoyed the bits where they were shooting the movie, and where Vought was trying to micromanage Maeve's love interest

My favorite little moment was that someone misspelled Stormfront's name on her drink cup to "Storefront".

As far as Black Noir, I don't think he'll end up being Lenny, rather I think they'll tie Lenny's death more closely to Billy's actions somehow. I do think Noir is definitely the only member of the Seven directly loyal to Mr. Edgar, though how that was achieved, I don't know.

Speaking of Edgar, given that he put Stormfront onto the team, I wonder how aware he is of whatever ulterior plan she has going on. We got the first hint of that this episode, and I imagine we'll get more going forward.

I think he knew Stormfront was going to throw a wrench into whatever Homelander was up to but how much he knew/knows about her agenda is still up in the air. Given how pissed he was at Homelander's antics causing extra work surely he must have accounted for the potential damage Stormfront could do on the PR front.

@Xopher: The obviousness of the twist could be offset by the fact that a large number of viewers have been spoiled about Noir's identity in the comic, and the show has nods in that directions like how Homelander and Noir have the same pose in a group shot, ect, even though what we've seen in terms of Noir's actual powers would seem to preclude that from being the case.

Just started watching Season 1 of this.

....Why did they make the Deep a rapist when he wasn't involved in the comic book (and was one of the more reasonable members too)?

Anyway, I'm watching it with someone who knows nothing about the comic book, so Robin's death in the first episode caught him completely off guard.

Cause it really doesn't make much of a difference.

Comic Deep & A-Train don't have much characters, A-Train just being a rapist & Deep even less so due to doing jackshit of anything in the story.

So they switched it around to the character they were developing the story for.

The thing that I like they’re doing (besides a lack of Love Sausage and Superduper) is that the vices of the Seven are a lot more evenly distributed with their few virtues, which in turn makes the satire feel a lot more three dimensional. The Deep being the sex pest fits more cohesively with his feelings of uselessness, his body issues, etc, while A-Train doesn’t need that when he serves as the parable of the athlete abusing his body for one more day in the spotlight. It’s not “everyone is a Jerkass, everyone sucks”, that the comic did (it also helps that the show IMO is a lot funnier). So I think them moving the specific vices around a bit makes the archetypes a lot clearer.
