This may be related to, of all things, your time zone setting. Try changing that and see if that fixes it.

Bumping, can not upload avatars at all.
EDIT: I tried removing my gingerbread and changing my timezone and back, but the "Submit" button on the upload form is still is not working. I am wondering if this is related to the recent 502/503 errors that happened a couple of weeks ago.

Okay, ignore the "upload" part.
I have tried nearly every solution on similar threads like this one, but so far no luck whatsoever. The Avatar Sharing switch in the profile page keeps undoing itself every time I turn it on, and I can't set the Avatar I uploaded and clicked on no matter what.
