A couple big ones for me:

Bruce Hornsby: The Way It Is. Just because it has such a World Half Full message IMO Des'ree- You Gotta Be. It's just so heartwarming.

Little Black Rain Cloud

What a cheerful, innocent little melody... that comes straight out from the depths of your earliest childhood days and gives you nostalgia and painful longing for a time when things were much simpler.

Sagitta Luminis from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. On the one hand, the very essence of love and Heaven (for me at least). On the other, heartbreaking because of Madoka's sacrifice.

Blue Calx by Aphex Twin

It calms me but it fills me with existential dread.

Scarborough Fair/Canticle by Simon & Garfunkel.

It's so beautiful and well-performed, as well as downbeat and haunting.

Hey.

There's probably more, but one song off the top of my head since I've been looping the instrumental recently is "The Kids Aren't Alright" by The Offspring.

I love the riffs although the song's about a tragic reality for some parts of the world, and even without the lyrics the emotion carries on.

Other songs that fit this category for me are those which genuinely gave me happiness in a past time, I remember the joy but it leads to memories of times long ago of abandoned adventures in my head that never happened. Melancholic af, I know.

For me it'd have to be "Home" by David Byrne and Brian Eno, the opening track to Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. It manages to invoke feelings of fond childhood memories and a sadness towards the fact that they're permanently trapped in the past. In other words, it perfectly expresses both the comforting and melancholic halves of nostalgia.

Be kind.

I found a perfect candidate for the thread. It's a Heartwarming piece from Yo Soy Betty La Fea. It plays in the most moving moments of the show and I love it.
