I could've sworn there used to be a thread for his videos before. Guess nobody bothered discussing his work on the forums after he left Channel Awesome. Ah well, I do love his work and he definitely deserves a dedicated thread.
While searching if he had a thread, I found a lot of comments on the old TGWTG thread where people seemed to really dislike his meta-humor and OTT style. I guess his humor can be an acquired taste, but I personally love it. I guess I first start watching him back in 2010, so I was able to ease into the transition of his reviewing style more than others.
If I had to pick my favorite review of his, I'd have to go with his review of the TMNT: Coming Out of Their Shells concert. The source material was just so goofy and he managed to make a lot of great material out of it.
I definitely kinda got bored of his meta-humor because its essentially same joke each time <_<
I think that’s part of his whole anti humor format; the whole reuse of jokes and dry meta humor on specific scenes actually create a hilarious alternate take on the films he watch. Especially with the alternate character takes in the films.
Phelous reviews The Christmas Brigade, the feature-length sequel to The Christmas Light. Yes, that film actually got a sequel:
Ooh, two shitty Christmas movie reviews for the price of one. I guess that's the beauty of checking in on Phelous every couple of months.
It's been 3000 years…Mostly Phelous showing off some more variants of Ghostbusters releases, plus a poster that defies description.
Anyone here a fan of Phelous' Bootleg Zone videos? In this episode, he dives deeper into the Galaxy Hole with Amicable Herculean, Galaxy Warrior knock-offs with the gimmick of swappable heads that can turn them into Ninja Turtle knock-offs! At least, in theory.
Animal Soccer World (Dingo Pictures)
Oh dear. Its the one.
Oh good lord, I've been waiting so long for this moment.
It's been 3000 years…Another Bootleg Zone, another look deeper into the Galaxy Hole. This time, Phelous looks at Satyr Masters, a toyline that doesn't include a single satyr.
Beauty and the Beast (Britannica)
In Miraculous Merchandise Zone, Phelous takes a look at Diamond Select's new line of The Real Ghostbusters figures, featuring Egon, Winston, and Slimer. Also, I believe he's testing out a new camera for this video.
Rapunzel (Bevanfield) - Phelous
In this episode of the Bootleg Zones, Phelous dives deeper into the Galaxy Hole as he takes a look at the Freedom Fighters, Sungold's attempt to bring the Galaxy Warriors into the 90's. Not to be confused with the other Freedom Fighters
Resident Evil 2 Re Make - Phelous
MK Defenders of the Realm: Swords of Ilkan (Ep 10) - Phelous
Sleeping Beauty (Goodtimes) - Phelous
In this episode of the Bootleg Zones, Phelous covers Milk Cow, the latest game out of China where you have to shoot the evil cow to save the hostages. Yup.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears (Bevanfield) - Phelous
Man, Bevanfield really brings out the ire out of Phelous. I didn't think it was possible to make him even more sarcastic.
I do like how both this and his Rapunzel review started with him going over the history of the original stories and showing how many iterations the tales have gone through before their most well-known versions. It's nice to see him doing the research for these reviews, even if they're cheap DTV cash-ins.
The Scariest Story in the Universe - Old Man Reads Creepypastas
Beast Machines Series Review - Phelous
Havent seen a thread on him surprisingly, so I figured I'd make one as I've really gotten into his stuff lately. Here's his newest vid:
