In which Cody pushes the "Democrats sabotaged Bernie to get Biden through" conspiracy theory.
Yeah, it's gonna be a no from me dawg

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Oh God, really?
I mean, he's made no secret the fact that he believes that (and in the Bernie blackout). So it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, really.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.I always see the sabotage claim bandied around and there's never any explanation of how the DNC supposedly did it.
It's genuinely sad to see these guys use the same tactics they criticize people on the right for. We are better than this shit.
Well, many people think that's already what happened in 2016 − although Sanders seemed to have more traction this time around.
But conspiracy or not, I don't think any "socialist" candidate is gonna get anywhere if they keep running for the Democratic Party. Sure a third-party campaign is no easy task in the US, but it would make much more sense.
"Conspiracy theory" implies Cody is wrong.
My various fanfics.He is.
If you think he's right he won't really have anything to argue; it's one of those things that's not true but some people need to believe is true.
DemSoc AOC would like to have a word with you.
It's been happening for years now.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.I mean, I can just use the things in my head that help me see? And the roll that the media and the Democratic establishment played in Bernie losing seems super-obvious? I mean, his campaign itself also bears some of the blame (he really should have been meaner to Joe and stopped calling him his friend) but it's not like Cody's pulling tin foil hat nonsense out of thin air.
My various fanfics.What's that?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Not... really positive what the point was in bringing her up. We're already in a discussion about Sanders and the point was implicitly that he's hit the "socialist" glass ceiling. Saying "but socialist candidates can win some stuff, look at AOC!" is unhelpful since, well, we're already talking about the objectively more successful Bernie.
I do genuinely share Cody's disappointment (Bernie wasn't my #1 pick but he was a hell of a light higher than Joe and once Warren was out Bernie was easily my #1) and am equally disappointed in what this decision says about the party and its tepidness. But here's the thing, it's not the establishment that voted for Biden, it's the Democratic voters that did, and ultimately overwhelmingly so. I also disagree with the point above that a "socialist" won't be more successful... but at the same time I'm asking myself "if not now, then when?" Because with a historically unpopular president and the fact that everyone is admitting under their breath that these "socialist" policies are what we need and can actually implement now and we still can't get away from the centrist old white guy? Jesus, that... it's a blow, guys.
One other point about the whole establishment angle: if sabotage from "the establishment" was enough to sink his primary so hard, wouldn't that show that Bernie's more vulnerable to sabotage from the much more entrenched Republican establishment and much more powerful Republican media?

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I want to point out, as has been pointed out many times, how the primaries were designed to fuck Bernie once they realized he actually had a chance. There were multiple states where college students and middle-to-lower class people had to wait in line for hours and hours, to the point where they had to choose between voting in a primary and going to work, or going to school, or going home to get enough rest so they could do those things, and Bernie got fucked for it.
Or the fact that all of the Democratic candidates left in the race dropped out on virtually the same day to give Biden their endorsement. Andrew Yang outright said that he was promised a cabinet position if he endorsed Biden, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that the other candidates got similarly hosed.
Like, don't pretend any of this is legitimate. Don't pretend that Biden deserves to be the nominee or, God forbid, the President. And don't act like it's not the democratic party's fault that they've killed any interest from a young, passionate voter base when they explicitly told said base "You do not matter, we do not want you, we do care who you want. You will vote for this rapist skeleton and like it."
My various fanfics. Was going to go into it, but it doesn't seem appropriate. This is tangentially relevant, but really doesn't belong here. If you want to discuss this, the On Topic Conversations Board is the place. Or P Ms, but I think everyone knows how fruitful that'll be.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Like I said, I'm not arguing about this. Like Biden having dementia, it's just one of those things people need to believe to feel vindicated.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.It isn't.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. It doesn't involve scapegoating races of people, women, LGBT+ people, it's nothing like it.
My Anime crush is LegosiI mean. I'm not going to pretend to be surprised that Cody's Showdy leans hard left.
Personally, I don't agree with some of the things he says, but I watch him for how passionate he is about the things I do agree with. In this day and age of tone policing and gentleman reporting, I appreciate Cody's willingness to go "No, f*ck you, that is dogshit on smeared on a propaganda sandwich that the President is selling you because he's a F*CKING LIAR."
We need more reporters like Cody.
Yes, you're right, there was obviously some behind-the-scenes horse trading going on to narrow the candidate field to the only people who actually had any chance of winning.
In doing so, the DNC "sabotaged" Bernie Sanders by forcing him to run a fair head-to-head race against a single competitor. This ruined Sanders's plan to skate to victory on a minority of support via monopolizing progressive votes while moderate votes were split by the crowd of competitors.
In taking away that crowd and leaving Sanders alone on a stage with Joe Biden, Sanders's inability to compete directly against Biden ultimately brought his campaign to an end.

That's a good point. Especially since the same crowd tends to hate on Elizabeth Warren for supposedly splitting the progressive vote that Sanders was presumably entitled to.
I got particularly annoyed with that because it assumes that all of her supporters 1) were progressives and to the left of that, 2) would have all voted for Sanders, and 3) would have had enough votes to give Sanders a majority none of which were true.

This is just as derailing, if not moreso, than the "Bernie was robbed" argument.

That's part of it (see Human Achievement Hour, but part of it too is a religious belief in the free market. And this belief is actually religious, not the lip service they pay to Jesus. They believe that the free market, working through Its invisible hand, makes life better for all, as revealed by Its prophet Ayn Rand. Pollution is generated by industry. Laws against pollution hamper the free market and are therefore bad. Therefore, removing laws against pollution is good. Well if preventing pollution is bad and allowing pollution is good, then by Rand pollution itself must be good.
