Rooftop
"Well, this whole thing is kind of a recent development," Mannic admitted as the two of them walked up the stairs to the roof, "Not to mention the tournament directors being skeptical as all hell at first..." He mumbled before they reached the door to the rooftop. Mannic opened it, revealing a small group gathered together a small distance away.
Jack recognized them. Yuria, Jason, Kara... All fellow competitors from the tournament.
"Hey, Kara!" Mannic yelled to get their attention as he and Jack approached, "Is this everyone?"
Wait what?Yuria took a look at the manager and nodded. "Yep, we're here."

"Yeah... Losing sucks, but that's just part of the game. So what's with the crazy?" Kara mused, but the night sky held no answers while they waited. The larger girl waved back in response to Mannic "Yeah, this is everyone I know of"

Jason waves at the man as he approaches. "Yo! You the guy with answers about all this crap?"

The five of them quickly gathered together, the four contestants standing next to each other as Mannic began his explanation.
"Ok ok, where to start...?" He remarked to himself, scratching his head for a moment, "Alright, should probably explain who I am first. So, as a few of you already know," He gestured to Jack and Kara, "My name is Mannic. I'm with a group that's working with the tournament organizers, and my group's been investigating another group that seems to be behind the incidents tonight."
He scratched his head again, "Ok, I know it sounds a bit confusing but bare with me. So, this other group, from what we know, call themselves the Fragments. Why, I have no idea, but there seems to be at least four, presumably willing, main members. A big guy, a young-ish looking woman, another guy with a facemask, and a masked one in a full costume. Any of those vague descriptions ring a bell?"
Wait what?Yuria nodded and said. "We saw a person with a Halloween costume and a skull mask a few hours earlier. They... uh... kinda beat us in a duel."

"More like handed us our asses on a platter..."
Jason shakes his head.
"Called themselves...Skull."

"Well, Masky has an actual name..." Mannic noted, quickly typing a few sentences into what seemed to be a notepad app on his phone, "And... wait," A realization of what the two duelists had just said seemed to finally register, "He actually beat the two of you?"
He took a glance towards both Yuria and Jason's now inactive duel disks, squinting slightly before turning his gaze towards Kara, "So what happened when you lost?"
Wait what?Yuria said. "Well, nothing. They just went poof and I am left humiliated and ticked off."

Jason shakes his head. “When we challenged them, they said it would be just a...friendly duel.”
He grits his teeth. “I feel toyed with...especially after the others...Timothy vanished when he lost to me...”
Rooftop
"Vanished?" Mannic asked, "What do you mean by 'Vanished'?"
Wait what?Rooftop
Jason taps his chin. “Like...”
Then scratches the back of his head, “Like after he lost, this weird portal thing opened up beneath him and, well...swallowed him up!”
He digs in his pocket to pull out Timothy’s shadow card and holds it up. “This is all he left behind.”
THE GARAGE
Jack looked at the man, "Uh, It felt real. Everything felt real." He unconciously reached under his shirt to feel his chest, ensuring there wasn't scorched and blistering flesh.
"My opponent used a fire deck, so essentially, I was being tortured while playing a game against someone not fully in control of herself. I'm uh...This is gonna haunt me for a bit." He thought for a moment, "So...why wasn't I told about this beforehand? If you knew about them, surely you could just tell us?"
Good to be back
