Was the Wiggles an international sensation?

As someone who had a kid brother at the time, yes.

They were huge when I was growing up.

Oh the Wiggles were a definite international hit.

Also, I never knew about the weird succesion issues of the band, nor how ressiliant Greg was.

My favorite part of the video is how Kevin assumes the continuity issues of their age and band members must keep the Wiggles up at night to reshoot it a third time if they didn't lose the files when Greg rejoined.

As an American, I remember watching their show on Playhouse Disney. Four guys in colorful shirts who sung songs made for an enjoyable experience. Of course, as I was a toddler, I don't recall specifics, but I know that I had fun watching them.

Huh, I guess it didn't catch on in my place.

Hilariously the other Aussie shows like Playskool did.

It was definitely playing in the US when I was a kid, although I think I was a little older than the target audience (I think that was more my sister), so I can’t attest to it being huge.

The most I heard of them was their Fruit Salad song that I heard on some Youtube videos back in their early years.

Defunctland trended due to a certain galactic starcruiser experience being shut down.

I do wanna say Kevin's been pretty vocal on Twitter about how awful the idea was regardless of COVID, ever since it was first announced. I think he even took a dig at it in his FastPass video.

Which. Yeah? Yeah.

For his part, Kevin's reaction has been bewilderment plus frustration at his own trending status.

I have to question whether like... There was a middle ground of just reducing the price of booking. Yeah I imagine the overhead of such a project is enormous, but it's a hotel and you're Disney. Something that big screams "This will pay off in the long run" but it certainly wasn't priced like that.

My oldest brother speculated was that rather than take the whole thing apart, they would refurbish it into a more practical resort. Thus, the full experience would be gone but the place itself would remain.

A lot of the features in Galactic Starcruiser were originally intended for Galaxy’s Edge. The duel with Rey and Kylo, the dining club with a performing band, the walkaround alien characters, etc. It’d be better to have these arrive at the land itself like originally intended rather than behind such a steep paywall.

Wake up lads! New Defunctland documentary just dropped. This time about the time between Walt's death and the opening of the EPCOT Center.

I've seen people being critical about the whole Walt thing, with Disney treating Walt now as a character than a person.

unironically have to know if they're going to release the music separately from the documentary in some form

Ah yeah, something to listen to at work later. Can't wait to learn more Disney history.

Defunctland suggested to actually watch though, primarily because of "visual entertainment". Haven't seen this yet myself.

Actually I'm reminded of something. So, Walt himself actually once noted that the person he presents himself as being in public is different from who he actually is. He once said something to the effect of "I'm not Walt Disney"

The new video is a really cool experience. I think I need to watch it a second time to see if I missed anything.

I do know he kinda hate (but not regret?) making that image for himself that he can't do "serious" movies.
