So I'm not sure why Shangri La Frinteir counts under that.
Watch SymphogearIt kinda felt like he just really wanted to talk about it, but coulnt fit a own dedicated video in the schedule and so shoehorned into this one.
Even with the broader deffinition of "trash" it just seemed out of place.

He put it in a contrast of making an "overpowered VRMMO guy" contrast with plaingarbage anime of the same baseline concept. His "trash to watch" is a mix of So Bad, It's Good and Better Than It Sounds.

He basically defined trash as anime that is unapologetically self indulgent. Material that, on the outside at least, looks to be the equivalent of pulp.
Garbage is just bad anime.
Geoff's anime year in review — the best, the worst, and the most cursed.
Has Geoff ever talked about Hajime No Ippo? I'd love for someone big to get into the series and actually make it past the anime to the late-manga content, and I think it'd be right up his alley with how he's talked about other sports anime and One Piece (HNI being one of the only manga longer than One Piece).
And yet,Hajime no Ippo isn't mainstream like One Piece is
New theme music also a boxThey made an anime about zoophilia.
Why.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.I do find it funny how Geoff manages to annoy me whenever he is being positive on anime x'D His way of speaking to camera when he is being positive sounds like PR marketing shill and he has bad habit of both overhyping things as masterpieces and putting things on pedestal by claiming they are better than something else(like implying that scott pilgrim anime is more emotionally satisfying than source material ;P that's just completely subjective opinion)
(that and he still thinks overlord is good)
But when he is roasting bad anime he is on point.
Overlord is good.
Overlord is definitely good.
It isn't without its flaws but it stands on its own as a story, not just in comparison to other Isekai but even in absolute terms.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnTotally Not Mark made a video on the first chunk of Hajime no Ippo.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.I'm aware, I've seen it. He only made it halfway through the material covered in season 1. If there are any animetubers who've moved on to the post-anime material, I'd love to see it.
I can get gribes with Overlord since it is overtly edgy, protagonist and most of his team are barely challenged through the whole story (whether morally or in battle) so far and it is proud of the whole Invincible Villain shtick. I heard conflicted takes on how the success of the anime goes (some say it's a massive success others said it's failing to turn profit or something and is mostly used as a PR to people to buy light novels).
Still, if people enjoy it and novels sell, that means it is can be considered good.

Anime works to sell the manga, novel or whatever other stuff is linked to it. Surprising the concept of that one lasted this long, honestly.
Wake me up at your own risk.it is rather annoying when they end premature because of that, but then again I think anime is the one medium with the highest fidelity ceiling compared to most other mediums of adaptations (which just tend to go for the major plot beats or vibes.)
Compare the MCU (specifically Captain America: Civil War) to say Dragon Ball. in the former we have missing characters and plot points (no mutants means no Murderworld and subsequently no snuff films being the most popular video on youtube for one), and a high amount of Adaptational Context Change It mainly retained the absic premise and title here. In the latter if you watched the anime you know everything about the manga
note that I said "ceiling", anime adaptations can still swerve to be very different form the source mateiral as 03 Fullmetal Alchemist, Magia Record and Interspecies Reviewers can attest, to various methods and results (respectively, one got some plot beats wrong but that got supplanted by a faithful adaptation, one decided to hem close to the source material's source material and went the Doomed by Canon tragedy approach and the last got so much hornier that it got pulled from reputable sources and was prolly canned)
Others can be more middle of the road. Yugioh for example had some minor changes as well as some arcs that weren't in the manga. Pokemon is father to the games at the time...because there was nothing there plotwise and even then still changed things around with Veridian City and the championship. Fate/stay night's DEEN version decided to have the cake, bake another and and eat them both (as the VN had three routes), etc.

No Avengers Arena is a plus, really. And the different Yu-Gi-Oh! anime and manga go in different directions, interestingly enough.
Wake me up at your own risk.Nah, you can't consider something good because it sells or otherwise that would mean people complaining about simpsons seasonal rot are wrong because its still popular show :p But this isn't thread about overlord so I won't start commenting on why I don't like it
Post Edit: man I really have excessive feelings about overlord

You can't say "this isn't the Overlord thread" and then end your post with a criticism of Overlord. Either it is a discussion worth having here or it's not, don't try to have it both ways.

"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnAh, true, sorry about that, I'll edit that out ^^;
The problem with most "overpowered character wins instantly" stories is that the story is actually about conflict and power scaling. Overlord is not about conflict and power scaling, Overlord is about story, lore, and character dynamics.
But that doesn't mean the story is necessarily good. If you have a story that lives or dies on characters and those characters are all thoroughly awful people, you're going to lose some of your audience.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Characters defined by agency and their own personal goals, pretty much all of Nazarick doesn't have any purpose or goals other than pleasing Ainz, hell the only reason one of the maids even became friends with one of the human natives of the New World is because said native also worshipped Ainz to the same fanatical degree that Nazarick did.
Some people grew bored with character dynamic if said dynamic consists mostly of other main characters madly worshipping the protagonist and protagonist getting either happy by that or embarrassed, as said other main characters constantly and without end saying how "way too good" the protagonist is at everything.

Why is the thread about Overlord when he hasnt even mentioned it in god knows how many videos.
Closest I could gather is that it's a fancy way of saying something has an Audience-Alienating Premise.
