I'm guessing "badly". Like we've already heard during Kokoro's origin story, the public wants to believe Magical Girls are these pure, perfect beings so they don't have to think about sending teenage girls into life-or-death battles. The existence of an evil magical girl would shatter this illusion.
After the near-wipe of an entire MG team and the stunt with the barrier, I have little doubt that the dumb, panicky animals would draw the absolute worst conclusions.
Apparently, Mary's life has been hitting a rough spot, which is why there have been so few updates lately. Thankfully, she's been able to stabilize, and normal updates will continue next week.
