I finished The Emperor's Gift recently and it was great. Bjorn in particular was both awesome and funny.

In upcoming release news: Grombrindal, the White Dwarf is getting an AoS book (Blurb). Judging by the title, it will be (either in whole or in part) the series of short stories that was serialised in White Dwarf last year that were quite entertaining.

There is also a Hammers of Sigmar book (Blurb)

Of course Grombrindal would survive the End Times.

If it is what was serialised in White Dwarf not really. Turns out Grungni reforged him by combining Grombrindal's original soul the souls of many longbeards he met during his journey through the Realms at the beginning of the Age of Chaos (and possibly a bit of Grungni's spirit as well but it has been a while since I read it).

So he's a super-dwarf essentially

Which is interesting inasmuch as one of those is already out there in the shape of Gotrek.

Admittedly they are very different in terms of how they reached the status of super-dwarf and will most likely have very different agendas, possibly even directly conflicting ones.

But there being two dwarf demi-gods running around at once is curious. It seems one is an avatar of Grimnir and one of Grungni, so maybe we will see a Dwarven avatar of Valaya too...

[up]The two actually go fight alongside each other in one of the stories of the serialisation. I think I probably would put him in demi-god class alongside the Celestant-Prime, the Lady of Vines, and pre-ascension Morathi. Also, avatar is the wrong word as the ascended deities already have a physical presence in the Realms. As for Valaya, I can't actually remember her being mentioned much in AoS.

I bow to your superior knowledge honestly, I am mostly dabbling in the lore so I fully expect I have missed a lot of stuff out.

Fair point about "avatar" too though I am at a loss for a more accurate term.

Cross posting this from the 40K thread as it is relevant.

The Black Library Submission window will be opening in January. This year's theme is Space Marine Successor Chapters. Submissions should be big on action and stakes, and showcase what makes the Successor unique. Anyone who wants to submit a story should send in a summary and a 500-page sample once the window opens and they will let you know if they are interested in a full 5,000 to 10,000 word story.

Ah, an Astartes-based prompt, huh? Very nice.

A couple of new(ish) Ciaphas Cain books will be coming soon:

1. Vainglorious. Cain investigates a Forge World.

2. Ciaphas Cain: The Anthology which collects the novella Old Soldiers Never Die and thirteen short stories.

I can't for the life of me remember where I am an in the series, but given its Anachronic Order I may get these when they eventually come out in paperback anyway.

Hear me out for my personal opinion/hot take:

The likely coming "scouring" novels while interesting likely means we will not explore/return to something I feel would be effectively "printing money" for GW/black library and a tragedy to not cover indepth.

Hear me out...the unification wars and emergence of the emporor of mankind (and likely his relationship he develops with malchador) would be both an amazing book series (localizing the conflict to earth and showing the various factions, factors at play, and answering some major questions) as well as an interesting side gameset similar to necromunda/horus heresy/killteam with a diverse opprotunity to bring models and influences in.

Personally I would want the books to be focused around big E and malchadors relationship, but I know other perspectives (maybe some from thunderwarriors, old earth leaders, custodes, or maybe even future space marines) as well as a more indepth look into the events and setting of that era I feel is eluded to often in the horus heresy but never actually seen.

Another thing is the war in heaven ruleset/models...but those novels and games would likely be niche and really hard to capture the scope and intensity of.

Either way, part of me hopes we might get some more mindset into various primarchs (loyalists if they return, but mostly traitors) though I would prefer perturabo and lorgar (and alpharius if he is still around somewhere) whom unlike their brothers are not fully dedicated to one God and corrupted by it over the years.

Dunno, unification war would be awsome, I have being hunting like crazy all mentions of unification war terra. but I dont know if can witstand a novel.

Anyway, I finish hand of asurman, I will said the book is....bad, mostly because have small page count, like 171 pages which is insuficient when you do two thing(telling the story of asurman and his current mision), the villian is very undercook and the plot is poor.

the only I recomend is because the eldar, it expand the lore, its the first novel that actually honest show the eldar empire, it also show how casually psyker the eldar race by just having telepathic comunication, how a mother calm her child by sharing the same mind you can get the eldar are a race of telepaths and how that define them. it was pretty damn intersting.

In short, 2 out of 5

I mean I definitely think it could be atleast a trilogy or more for the unification wars. I definitely just want to see the relationship between malchador and the emporor develops to the point that in the future they are die hard Bros. It would also be interesting to witness the thunder warriors in combat vs. How we see the astartes in combat to further differentiate them from just descriptions.

Besides that...there is literally so little information about that era on earth aside from a few casual remarks in the heresy and the story the last church which occurs VERY late into the unification wars...
