The thing about Penders' echidna obsession is that if things had gone his way, it wouldn't have been echidnas he'd be obsessed with. Rather, it'd be hedgehogs. All of that backstory for Knuckles? The long line of Guardians, that incredibly involved and nonsensical Echidna history, that group of old Echidnas who just sat on their asses and didn't really do anything that Flynn sent packing as soon as he got the chance? That was all supposed to be for Sonic. The only reason Knuckles got saddled with it is because SEGA (wisely) said no to Sonic getting a massive and unnecessary Adaptation Expansion, but they didn't have a problem with Penders using all of that mythos he cooked up for Knuckles. Next thing we knew, Knuckles got his own series and a crapload of Penders baggage to go with it, with the only saving grace being that it wasn't Sonic who got loaded with it all.

Sega is releasing 4 Sonic Forces Tie-In Comics done by Ian Flynn and Adam Bryce Thomas.
And they're not done by IDW but in house by Sega. Sonic Team's name is on Plot.
Also, LHT's site updated with a big post.
http://bumbleking.com/lost-hedgehog-tales-update/
"With recent events I’m getting a fair number of folks asking about the timetable for “Lost Hedgehog Tales.” The short answer is: no time soon. Now that you’re good and mad/disappointed, the long answer:
- – Legal Concerns: Many folks have been kind enough to point out that the most recent publicly known legal matter has ended with the case thrown out. That’s true, but there’s also the possibility the plaintiff will appeal the decision, starting the mess all over again. I’m in no position to ask about it, so for now it’s a waiting game to see if that storm has actually passed.
- – IDW: The Sonic license moving to IDW is very cool, but it brings up a ton of new questions. IDW is famous for bringing back and completing older runs of fan-favorite franchise books when they can. Does this mean I can maybe one day finish my post-reboot plans? Does it mean I might one day finish my pre-reboot plans? I have no ideas. But the possibility, even if it’s infinitesimally small, now exists. And it’s entirely too early to predict whether or not it might happen. “Lost Hedgehog Tales” could, potentially, derail that. And if sitting on the project now means we actually get to see it as a comic later? I think it’s totally worth waiting a few more years. And if not? If it just takes a while to make sure those will never happen and I’m in the clear? Then so be it.
- – Other Stuff: There’s other things floating around in the background that I can’t talk about. Some of it I’m not even fully aware of since I’m just the writer; a small part of a much bigger mechanism. But there are other potential pitfalls and issues that make me wary of getting into “Lost Hedgehog Tales” right now.
I understand that this is frustrating for a lot of people. It’s frustrating for me too. When I announced the project, I thought it would be a simple kind gesture and we could all move on. But nothing in life is simple. Once again I appreciate everyone’s patience with this. It will happen. I just don’t have a lot of control over when."

The Protomen enhanced my life.
I say good thing, because he had some awesome parents in comparison with how Knuckles got saddled with the travesty that is Locke.
"Imma' Knuckles' Daddy. If I turn my son green, he'll be Echidna Jesus!"
At least Locke got a good send-off in the post-Penders days.
Whatever you do, never EVER associate him with that other Locke.
Yeah, getting Killed Off for Real after all his actions came back to bite him in the ass.
I love how this thread has over 100 posts & the first issue hasn't even came out yet.
That is funny. I guess we are just so hyped up for more Sonic comics.
Especially if they're coming from A) arguably THE best source for great quality comics based on licensed properties and crossovers and B) arguably THE best writer the Archie Sonic comics has ever gotten.
(Still wondering if Ian's trip to DC HQ means a crossover like Sonic the Hedgehog/Green Lantern or something else that actually isn't Sonic-related.)
Not just that, but the first issue isn't even coming out until next year. Talk about pre-release hype . . .
wouldn't sonic/flash be a more logical crossover
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."The guy that can drain you of the ability to have inertia with a touch?

...Wait, what now?
Read up on Speed Force abilities. They get weird. But yeah, Speed Force users can steal speed from people to the point where they're moving so slowly they look frozen in time.
Not to mention that, as far as the Flash is concerned, the Speed Force has all but replaced The Wizard Who Does It. Flash, unfortunately, makes Sonic look like Slowpoke Rodriguez by sheer comparison.
Which is why I would love to see Sonic gain access to the Speed Force in the climax of a hypothetical Sonic/Flash crossover, even if it means he’ll lose it once he leaves the DC universe or if Barry Allen (who generates the Speed Force) leaves Sonic’s universe.
About original characters, what if IDW Sonic has a Satanic Archetype for an original villain? If Dr. Eggman is Mojo Jojo, this villain would be HIM.
I wonder if Infinite could fill that niche...
Anyway, something hit me. What if Ian's trip to DC has less to do with a Sonic crossover with a DC property and more to do with Cosmo, the spacefaring reboot he's doing for Archie?
There was some Flash comic where a short blue blur in the speed force helped him out. i forget what it was though.
The Protomen enhanced my life.oh oh oh i remember that
it was from mark millar and grant morrisons version of the flash in which to save earth wally had to outrace a very fast creature who err looks oddly familiar

" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."Well, Marky Mark actually wrote a few Sonic comics himself, so it wouldn't exactly be unprecedented. Bizarre, yes, but not unprecedented.
Am I the only one who wants to see Chris Thorndyke appear in the new comics as an Off-Panel joke character?
that won't happen due to rights issues same with characters from that weird ass ova from the 90s
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."
He didn't really need to. There wasn't any real story visible in the games until Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Penders' problem was his hyper-inflated ego moving forward alongside his weird echidna obsession.
