Filming will be from August 31, 2020 to February 8, 2021.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Still no casting news? I guess they could announce at the manga anniversary in July or virtual SDCC.
No casting news as of yet. Will keep an eye out for it.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Planning to film this year at all looks like a suicide mission.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."So is anyone wondering what the CGI for Luffy's stretching will be like? I always figured that rubber men were ok in cartoons in comics, but those powers would be incredibly freaky in live-action. So I think one of 3 things will happen, 1) it'll look really good and go off without a hitch, 2) it'll be pretty bad and cheesy looking, 3) or it'll really hit the Uncanny Valley and be horrifying. But I'm being optimistic and I hope it'll turn out good.

The live action One Piece has become a fascination for me. It cant be good. Can it? They cant pull it off. Can they? What would it even look like? I need to know. I need to see it. If it works, Im there for it. If it crashes and burns, hell, Im there for it.
They apparently begin filming next month.
More casting rumors have hit, including Emily Rudd as Nami and Cole Sprouse as Sanji, but they’re unverifiable.
Those two sound downright laughable.
Lewis Tan as Zoro might be true. But those? That just sounds like the sort of baseless internet speculation that needs to be aggressively shunned and ignored.
The rumors aren’t out of nowhere. Both are following the showrunner Steven Maeda and the official OP Netflix Twitter, while Sprouse released a bunch of photos of him dressed as Sanji (namedropping such). Rudd meanwhile, was listed by Maeda as a potential candidate.
It’s not verifiable, but I’ll say as far as social media goes, Rudd has a lot more support than Sprouse.

So any word on what will be adapted for the first season. Ive become curious on this?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."None. But the guess seems to be that they'd adapt the East Blue saga.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."The crew confirmed that the series will start with the East Blue arc this past January.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.I need to see how they adapt these characters. Like the pearl guy or the fishmen.
Would they even be able to make even the Buggy fight look good? A fight involving among other things a rubber guy, a clown guy that can fall to pieces, a giant lion and a monocycle riding swordsman with a lot of dirty circus-based tricks.
Wake me up at your own risk.I mean, there are shows like LegendsOfTomorrow, Supernatural and Doom Patrol that make the combination of serious character arcs and zany comedy work. It's note like there is no precedence in live action.
You lost!I mean, fighting an evil circus isnt that weird. The Black Cat Pirates, on the other hand...
Well South Africa’s borders are still closed, so I am anticipating delays until borders open.
Yeah uh I really doubt anyone will be opening up to the us for a long while.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Big companies can apply for exemptions on the grounds of economic stimulation, but SA isn’t allowing in anyone.
And I’ll stop lest I go into a political rant.
Matt Owens (one of the writers) just made a special appearance on Rogers Base's Reverie livestream to discuss the live-action adaptation (said event occurs at the 54-minute mark in this video).

He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself. Was anything of substance said?
Sets are still incomplete because COVID-19 locked down South Africa. They’ve been using the time to complete the scripts.
Season 1, as rumored is going to be an adaptation of East Blue. Owens speaks to trying to make the episodic early arc more serialized.
There has been no official casting at this time.
Even after Tomorrow Studios hired Owens, he still had to get approval from Oda himself, who is implied to have turned down a previous Japanese live action adaptation. He’s about as protective of this series as any personally involved creator could be.
Speaking of, Oda has influence at the notes process of the script writing. That’s a rather dramatic level of influence a lot of creators don’t usually have.
Owens knows that most anime adaptations have been crap. He also says that this won’t be the 4Kids version.
Huh seems their actually trying to ensure this is good. We maybe seeing history here.
