Wasn't part of the plot of the original Wanted series that they couldn't be open and out and about with their supervillainy because they'd have the superheroes from the rest of the multiverse on their asses? That's why they disowned Mr Rictus
they dont care anymore they got their unstoppale mary sue and also feel there are too many heroes popping up and they need to nip it in the bud or else their world will be overrun from within
Well, they haven't really gone public. They're just killing all the superheroes before they can go public with the whole "the world is secretly ruled by supervillains and has been since 1986" thing.
And even back in Wanted, plenty of the villains wanted to go public too. Rictus wasn't the only one.
and the big crossover finale ended. they use time travel to reverse all the deaths, and the magic circle summons the heroes from the jupiters legacy world and they take out the fraternity and the bad guy from empress. wesley tried to kill not!batgirl but is shot by a hit-girl who had time travelled back to that point just to kill him. nemesis is kept alive for some reason and vows to rebuild everything and kill thousands of people. dave is made the american ambassador, and wesley wakes up in the good side of the afterlife in reborn, and is immediately killed again because they didnt like how he looked
Yeah, I saw most of that coming a mile away. You don't introduce time travel that way if it's not gonna get used in the big climax.
Okay wow, ya know what Wesley and the Fraternity finally getting their just desserts honestly makes this all worth it
The Villains of Wanted finally got defeated 2 decades in the making

(2) That's pretty much the read I get. We get defensive about creators we like, but when it comes to Ennis and Millar are an Acceptable Target of the 80s 90s.
Not to say they aren't edgy, but the general opinion on TV Tropes is a ready acceptance of Too Bleak, Stopped Caring, and cynicism or gothic = poor writing. It's a take that annoys me often.
I like Nemesis as a guilty pleasure. Its hilariously cruel and over the top. Kick Ass too, its a level of superhero deconstruction that's entertaining rather than convoluted or self-aggrandizing.
