10-minute teaser for Lindsay's new video on John and Yoko. Weird to see it on Youtube, but happy to. If only because I never like, you know. Check Nebula.

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. That’s pretty exciting. John and Yoko’s relationship is usually only seen from two different inaccurate extremes, and it’d be nice to see a deep video on the topic.
But I’m just glad she’s doing okay.
Everybody loves the me! I’m a great athlete!Well fuck. I might as well get Nebula now.
The video is really good. A good deal of it is devoted to the history of The Beatles, but there's also quite a bit of it devoted to why public opinion of Yoko is so bad (the conclusion Lindsay reaches is that to a certain extent Yoko never portrayed herself as a victim of all the slander and more or less just ignored it as best she could). There's talk of a lot of other women who got blasted in the court of public opinion only to have been vindicated by time such as Brittney Spears, Courtney Love, Monica Lewinsky, Whitney Huston. She's also on record as saying that Amber Heard will be thought of in the same light eventually.
A lot of what I took away from the video, which is really sad but true, is that when a famous women has any sort of public trouble then people are quick to blame and mock; but when a famous man has public trouble people go out of their way to try and find excuses for him, often blaming women around him in the process.
Well, to a point. If a famous man gets older and, say, loses his muscular physique, the vultures of tabloid journalism will be quick to declare that he is letting himself go and going into some sort of downward spiral, rather than just getting older and settling into a healthier, less workout focussed lifestyle.
Optimism is a duty.... Nowhere to the degree of a woman if she gains 2 pounds or goes outside without makeup to buy milk from the cornerstore. Like, to the point where it's almost ridiculous to raise a comparison.
I used to work night shift in a gas station, and reading tabloids was one of the only way to pass time. And the way tabloids treat men vs women is so impossible to compare it's almost disingenous to try to. Men getting criticized for their appearance or how in shape they are in Tabloids is more an exception than a rule.

... yeah, if we're playing oppression poker, the "men need to keep fit" hand will absolutely lose to "women are not allowed to age. Or wear makeup. Or be photographed doing anything but smiling."
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.In my experience it tends to be "not weak makeup" that makes the tabloids. Like "Oh she's letting herself go, not taking care of herself, showing up like this in yoga pants and a sweat shirt at a starbucks"

Especially since "older man who isn't necessarily in shape" is a very common acting job people are handed. It's much rarer for women to have those kinds of roles available that isn't "little old lady who shows up for one scene."
Not Three Laws compliant. While we may be living in a post #Metoo era, we are not living in a world that has left Contractual Purity behind. Tabloids feed off of insecurities.
Everybody loves the me! I’m a great athlete!Absolutely, it's no secret that jobs in Hollywood tend to dry up for women who get past 30, unless they happen to have a very specific artistic cache (Oscar winner, etc...). And beyond 50, acting jobs for women become absolutely rare unless you're like, Judi Dench or Helen Mirren. And if you happen to be an older woman AND not white, that's even worst.
It's worth noting that she's quick to point out that fame destroys with little specific regard. It's not to say that famous men aren't also under pressure and that things go wrong for them: she points to Cobain as an example, and even Depp to a certain degree. It's just that, as the discussion has pointed out, women always tend to get the short end of the stick when it comes to this stuff more often than not.
Oh, absolutely. I'm not pretending it doesnt happen to men, but the degree of magnitude is far different. I also think that famous Men tend in general to need to do far more to get the same level of relentless obsessive media coverage than a woman. And men tend to get more positive or at least supportive coverage compared to a woman.

The only thing I really remember hearing Yoko doing that seemed kinda inexcusable was, didn't she try to shut John Lennon's son out of his life, or is that just one of those things people made up?
I vaguely remember Paul Mc Cartney defending her at some point.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationYoko Ono and Julian Lennon had a very tense relationship with some legal battles occurring after John Lennon's death.
Oh, I agree, women get it way worse, I am not disputing that.
Optimism is a duty.Yeah, Cynthia and Julian got really fucked over by John.
Everybody loves the me! I’m a great athlete! It's a whole thing I don't know all the details of but frankly...I can't fucking care. It's family stuff that feels really invasive to look into. But privacy is almost nonexistent when you're famous.
Does a Nebula account cost anything?

New theme music also a boxOr you can buy it for $299 straight up and then have access to it forever with your account.
Everybody loves the me! I’m a great athlete!Considering the nebula/curiosity stream bundle is like 30$ a year, that's banking really hard on a stream service surviving at least 10 years for you to break even. Which nowadays feels like hell of a gamble.
Even the creators on Nebula like Maggie May Fish and Abigail Thorn point out that a lifetime subscription is more of a show of good faith than anything, and that if you want the best deal you're probably better off with the annual sub.
Not for nothing either but Lindsay does offer all the content that she puts out on Nebula, via her Patreon as well. Thing is that right now her Patreon is $6.00 a month (Canadian at least, I think that means it's like $4 USD but don't quote me on that), so it's as expensive or a little more expensive than just getting a Nebula annual.
Yeah after watching some theme park historian channels, family friendly vegas was a thing often with defunct venues and retrofitted establishments. I believe even cesar's palace had this water tour.
