O.K, I have to ask because it's really baffling me: WHERE THE HELL DID HAJIME COME FROM?

He's not even real! He's a avatar based off the memories of Izuru Kamakura! How did he come back?! With all these presumably real people!?.

If you're talking about the demo...he isn't in the game. He's just a part of the demo.

[up]Oh. So, he's just a program. Poor Hajime.

Wait you might be talking about something else but Hajime was a real person who eventually became Izuru Kamukura. The protagonist of DR2 was how he was prior to going nuts, the same as everyone else. Chiaki was the program. Either way, as far as I'm aware the previous DR characters to show up in this game are VR simulations.

...I'm not sure you understand.

V3 is not a part of the same universe as the older games. Hajime and Makoto are just in the demo as placeholders to avoid spoilers for the real first trial. The demo has nothing to do with the actual game plot.

Well... it kind of is. It's an alternate timeline where different outcomes to the Killing Games occurred and DR protagonists show up in a VR simulation, including Hajime. I think that's what is being discussed here.

On a related note, I have no idea what the implications of this are. Does this mean that the V3 cast is still alive and well in the main timeline?

[up]Oh.

Sorry, then, if that's what's being discussed.

I'm guessing Hajime still exists in the real world, if he's still alive? Honestly the whole thing leads to so much Fanfic Fuel it's crazy

Is it really Hajime or Izuru? Also I now wonder if more of the Dangan 3 anime cast like Seiko or Juzo survived their trials.

I came across fake spoilers on the main Danganronpa franchise page. Editing that page and the V3 page in the coming days is going to be fun

This game may well be the Mind Screwiest game in a very weird series

So, some wise-guy moved Shinguji to the Female Students page, and even undid all of the spoilered text pertaining to it. Should I just undo what they did?

I'm still not reading this thread because I only played the prologue yet, but I'll just drop the link to my Twitter thread here.

I wonder who the dub voices of Kaede, Rantarou, and Shuichi are going to be.

I just thought of this but if this game does end up getting a mixed reception at least with its story in the end then it makes sense. This is the third game of the series & even if its not a trilogy, its a rule (not an ironclad rule but a rule nonetheless) that the third installment of anything whether video game or movie will not live up to its predecessor's quality. Oddly enough this can be also applied to 3 anime as that was technically the third main installment of the franchise as well.

Hopefully the devs take the critiques to heart & genuinely shake things up next game if things don't work out as well with V3.

I've actually really liked what I've seen of V3. Yes, even that thing.

I predict that the Shuichi vs Kaede wars will burn bright in this fandom for many years to come, though.

So since the game has been out for, roughly, 12 hours now...

Anyone know what's up with those Fabricated/Lie Bullets?

This game is going to be so polarizing when it releases here.

I'm not casting my judgement until I can actually read the thing.

I actually looked it up and, at the risk of being redundant:

Apparently you make Lie Bullets by taking a Truth Bullet and flipping it to mean the opposite. Dunno how exactly that will work, but you can use them as shortcuts of some kind. Does that mean you can skip whole sections of the Non-Stop Debate? Does this also mean that the game's going to be more difficult to the point that using them would seem preferable? Lying like that might actually change the story, too, so there's definitely more replay value in this game than the others.

Can't wait until it's gonna be localized. I'm excited for it.

Ok can someone explain the ending cause I'm confused.

Seriously the game is a reality show on its 53rd season & the kids are still being killed for real? Who the hell would approve this? Also does Rantaro really just die in the first chapter?

From what I can tell, everyone was suicidal and joined the show willingly and had their memories erased/fabricated. Kiibo blows himself to take out Shirogane. However, all of this apparently comes from a streamer who did not get the trophy for the true ending so no one is quite sure what the deal is.

Phooey. Do we know when it's set to be released in the US yet?

I wouldn't put too much stock in spoilers just yet. False spoilers are running rampant and I've already seen more conflicting information than I can count. The stuff that is definitely true doesn't sound too bad so long as certain details are actually mistranslations.

Plus that true ending is still on the table, so at least there's that.

True ending confirmed. On a side note, the final trial is going to be a dubbing nightmare.

I have to say the alternate timeline/universe where Mukuro is the 'evil' sister and Junko is 'good' thing sounds so much better than the everything's just a reality show game! thing.

While I think that would be a better plot, I think what we got was actually pretty clever. The important part is that all the dead people actually died, and it wasn't scripted, which was my hangup when I first heard of the twist.

On paper the twist is dumb, but seeing it in action along with stuff like Saihara basically debating against the entire world made it work.
