All Purpose Fire Emblem Fanfiction Thread

I don't really do shipping in any active sense, although I do have preferences. As far as fanfiction goes, I'm willing to read about any pairings I don't actively dislike as long as the story is good. So for me, it's definitely more about the stories themselves.

So if you're a fan of Corrin (either gender) x Azura, this week (August 1-7) is Azurrin week. A bunch of authors are posting stories on ff and ao3 centered around the pairing.

Random thought (which likely won't work):

Anankos decides to just possess Corrin from the start, but in an extremely subtle way that prevents anyone (including Corrin himself) from even realizing this.

As such, Corrin takes the third option of joining neither Nohr nor Hoshido...so that he can cause even more pain to everyone by fighting both sides.

Or alternatively, he pretends to gather all to fight the greater enemy, but secretly sabotages the peace process until both countries are going at each other even worse than during Birthright or conquest at least at first.

It finally reaches the point where everyone realizes Corrin has gone ape shit and is on no ones sides, and the two countries have to team up anyway to stop him from destroying them all.

Since I haven't played Fates, I have no clue if this would even work, nor have I worked out all the kinks yet, but I'm putting it out there.

Play Fates before putting forward ideas that break canon super hard.

Well for starters, there's only been two people shown to be directly possessed by Anankos and they were both deceased by that time, so he's essentially using them as body puppets. There third was made into a Manchurian Agent, but not totally possessed. like the other two. The fact that you're able to break the possession on him shows he wasn't totally possessed.

There's also the fact that Anankos wants Corrin to suffer. Can't make Corrin suffer if Corrin's your possessed puppet.

Oh.

I remember that thing about wanting to make him/her suffer now (read a lot of wikis).

...And he can't possess someone who's still alive unless they willing...

Ok. New idea. Keep most of what I said before... but Corrin actually did die at some point and no one realized it.

Of course, this also likely wouldn't work ( I'm pretty sure Aqua does have a way to tell), but hey, I wanna hear some feedback.

I'm pretty sure it's implied that Anankos wanted Corrin thrown into the Bottomless Canyon to possess them, and then went with making them suffer as a Plan B.

I also think that first fic idea might already exist. Or at least I know there's a couple Dark Fics where Corrin turns evil floating around.

I found something called Blurry Colors and Bright Shades today and I loved it. Basically it's a Fates fic, post-Conquest, but Takumi's a ghost and he's haunting Kamui (the fic uses her Japanese name but no one else's). Sort of. More like he hangs around her because she's the only one who can see him. There's more to it than that, but that's how it starts.

It's tagged as shipping them, but it's been 23 chapters so far and it's barely touched that, so don't let that scare you away if you don't like them together.

I've seen that fic pop up frequently, but have yet to touch it since I'm kind of meh on Corrin/Takumi and post-Conquest stuff. It's on my rainy day list.

I don't like the pairing much either - I'm not especially attached to Takumi either, for that matter. But in this case, I liked the ideas and the writing enough to make up for it.

If someone could write some same-sex Corrin supports, that'd be great.

x2 Let me clarify; I don't dislike the pairing, I'm just ambivalent towards it. I do like Takumi, though.

Might not be exclusively Corrin same-sex supports, but unassuming venusaur has an entire series of writing same-sex Fates and Awakening supports.

Leo/Takumi is also a pretty popular pairing if you're into that. Tons of fics for it exist.

This week is Rarepair week, apparently. You might find some more same-sex pairings over the course of the week.

Been writing this Heroes thing for a while, and I decided to go ahead and post the first chapter.

I like how you explained and integrated the game mechanics without them feeling out of place. The action scene was also decently paced and written.

Good to know that the action scene worked well, too. I'm a lot better at writing them than I used to be, but sometimes I still worry about how they come across.

Regarding my Heroes fic...my hard drive died last week, and the backup I had of the fic was old and only had the first chapter. I was almost done with the second one, but it looks like I'll have to rewrite it.

I'm disappointed, but I have a good idea of what I'd written, so I still plan to rewrite it. All it means is that it's going to take longer before I'll be able to update.

Not sure if anyone besides Karxrida read the first chapter, but I wanted to bring it up here anyway.

Time to break out the Aum staff...

I've had this idea for an Awakening AU inspired by reverse recruitment hacks for a while, and I've developed it a pretty fair bit, but there's still some stuff I need to figure out about the endgame (also I just want to ramble about it). The gist is that I've swapped around the order of the Gen 1 cast's recruitment, Spotpass characters included, and tried to rationalize/justify their new role in the plot and army. Some highlights of what resulted from this:

This started as a fun little what-if, but it's kind of turned into a whole worldbuilding/rewrite project in its own right. I've got most of the Plegia arc mapped out, and I'm starting to figure out the Valm arc (sure doesn't help that Valm as a continent is barely defined in the text of Awakening outside of the existence of three whole countries), but I'm kind of stuck on the Grima arc and how to factor the future kids into the whole of the story. I'm willing to talk more about this, if anyone's curious! I've posted about it a bit on Tumblr, but I still need to make a master post so there's an actual directory for my rambles.
