I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person. He's a bit wrong here: The original book was absolutely intended for younger readers
Yes I feel like there was a bunch of dark books for preteens around that time, like A Series of Unfortunate Events, or the Cirque du Freak books (the time being the early 2000s) source was a preteen at that time.
Today, The Dom re-do his first video in the channel by comparing Robert A. Heinlein's Starship Troopers to its 1997 film adaptation.

I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.Nice to see Red from Overly Sarcastic Productions make an appearance.
I don't remember the original video of Starship Troopers all that much, but I do remember enough to see that there is a major improvement in how his videos are presented.
I do like seeing former Channel Awesome members break away from the old formula of the site and develop their own styles.
Dom is one of the former CA members whose style seems to have remained pretty consistent over the years… Although I started following him shortly before Change The Channel, so maybe I misremember.
Today, The Dom continues his journey with Chronicles of Narnia by taking look at the fifth book of the series, The Horse and His Boy.
Today, The Dom compares Ian Fleming's very first James Bond novel from 1953, Casino Royale to its 2006 film adaptation starring Daniel Craig.
Ohh, that it's not even the worst of Ian Flemming's thoughts.
Every time someone claims to be realistic is a dour cynic in disguise.Today, The Dom compares How to Train Your Dragon, the 2003 book written by Cressida Cowell to its 2010 Dreamworks animated movie adaptation.
The "asshole hamsters" comment makes me think he has some personal experience in that situation.
Discussing the 10 biggest changes in the LOTR trilogy.
I love the point he makes about how Hobbits in the book, despite how much Tolkien shills them, are complete assholes. Tolkien writes the Hobbits with like, a clear idealism about them and the lives they live, yet at the same time he makes them complete jerks.
My guess is that while Tolkien preferred the simple pastoral life to rampant industrialization but he wasn't blind to its faults.
I had completely forgotten about Galadriel’s gift for Sam.
You could say he got done… *puts on glasses* dirty.
Sam also got seed of mallorn, which he planted to replace old Party Tree that got cut down by Saruman's men.
I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.I actually don't like the change where Merry and Pippin stumbled across the departing Frodo and Sam by accident. I really like the moment where they tell Frodo they know he's not just moving to a different town, but is on a quest to far away, and they intend to stick with him. Best cousins.
Just love the movie version where the Brandybuck and the Tooks wonder if Farmer Maggot murdered Merry and Pippin. Plotting revenge for a year and half when the two return.
From the completely uninvolved hobbit who mouthed off to a Black Rider to suspected of murder. How Farmer Maggot has fallen.
I heard that Tolkien got the "box of dirt" idea after learning about mycorhizae, which is a word I have trouble spelling despite having a degree in biology.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Today, The Dom compares Twilight Eclipse to its movie adaptation:

Today, The Dom compares The Disaster Artist to its 2017 movie adaptation.
Damn… All the details about the book are gonna make it really hard for me to rewatch The Room, even ironically.
I thought Wiseau was socially inept and hard to deal with, but not that he was this much of a piece of shit.
Preview for the July 1st Podcast.
I hugely prefer the movie over the book. I'm not...good with tragic endings like that. (Also not great with weird anticlimaxes)
Not Three Laws compliant.
