Well, you're on the Recess thread, so...
There was a time fairly recently when someone had uploaded every episode of the series on YouTube. (Except for "The Box" which was a duplicate upload of "The Trial".) I...I have to admit that I was so desperate to revisit this series that I binge-watched the episodes all on there.
My goodness the nostalgia I got. The series was just as good as I remembered it being back when I watched it on One Saturday Morning and Toon Disney. I really wish they would release a complete series release of the show or put it on Netflix so we don't have to rely on YouTube uploads.
I think my favorite character is Gus. He was the one I related to the most as a kid, being a somewhat dorky and socially awkward little kid like how I was when I was his age.
"Hey, gimme a minute to get to know everyone, 'kay, Brainy?" "Of course, but please allow me to get a word in, too, bzz."Then I assume you were also a Dodgeball legend.
One Strip! One Strip! So has anyone else noticed that the first movie actually kind of predicted how schooling is done nowadays?
I liked this show a lot when I was little, I binged it a couple of weeks back, it still holds up!
I mean I guess it's kinda-sorta like how schooling is done now, but with more tractor beams.
Ya, I'm weird like that...@Kix: Well, I'm pretty sure The Weekenders is shorter, so it'd be easier to finish.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I think probably my favorite episode of the show is the one where government officials ban recess in the school as an experiment to see how it affects testing results. While it may have exaggerated the scenario a tad in how it affected everyone (only a tad), that episode was way ahead of its time in questioning those kinds of practices in schools. Hell, I remember when I was a kid, we didn't even have an actual recess break in my schools, at best just being allowed to go outside for like 10-15 minutes during lunch. And I remember pretty much everyone would RUN toward the door when we were told we could go outside. Kids need time to be active to work off their excess energy if you want them to actually pay attention in class, and they most certainly WANT to be active. Gym class don't cut it. Kids need to be able to have some fun.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I think Weekenders has like 4-5 Seasons, so I doubt It's that short.
"We be we baby!"Yeah, I remember that episode too. Doesn't it end with the test scores plummeting after a short time and they re-create recess and instead give it a pretentious acronym and pronounce it "wreckus"?
Yep. Reversing Effects of Continuous Educational Stress Syndrome.
Here's a fun tidbit about the movie: Originally they were going to sing Get Back at the end. Obviously, the song was too expensive. Though imagine (no pun intended) Robert Goulet singing that one.
when you say "at the end" do mean "during the last scene of the movie" or "over the end credits"?
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Probably in place of the scene where Robert Goulet sings "Green Tambourine" while psychedelic visuals happen.
Personally, I'm glad they went with that song, especially since I'm not sure "Get Back" would've fit his voice. Robert Goulet is a pop singer, not a rock singer.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.@Odd1: That also reminds me of the episode where Prickly gets replaced by a new fascist principal, Dr. Slicer.
Yeah, I remember that guy. Wanted to tear down the jungle gym and put in a guard tower and wanted the cannon outside the school to be operational.
I also recall that one episode where a rogue supercomputer takes over the school, locking everyone inside.
I remember both of them! Also, somebody made a YTP of the R.E.C.E.S.S ep:
Dang, I didn't know there was a thread for this show! I really enjoyed Recess as a kid. I've been rewatching the show recently, and it's still just as good as I remembered.
That episode with Dr. Slicer was really interesting. And the episode with the rogue computer... I actually didn't realize it was a homage to Two Thousand One A Space Odyssey until high school... which makes sense actually, considering I didn't see that movie until eighth grade, and didn't rewatch that episode until high school.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.Does anyone remember the Halloween special? The one that contained three shorts, like in The Simpsons.

I remember that one. The one with the zombie Finsters (or whatever they were) was creepy as all get out from my memory.
"Hey, gimme a minute to get to know everyone, 'kay, Brainy?" "Of course, but please allow me to get a word in, too, bzz."I remember one of them was called "Children of the Cornchip" but that's about it, also TJ acting as Rod Serling.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. There was also the episode segment where bicycles come alive and seek revenge.
Ya, I'm weird like that...I think I remember that. That was creepy.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.Wasn't it actually Butch narrating that episode?

"Hey, gimme a minute to get to know everyone, 'kay, Brainy?" "Of course, but please allow me to get a word in, too, bzz."Oh, you might be right about that, whoops.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
In a way, I did grow up to be like TJ. In a born leader kinda way, but not much of a prankster prince.
BTW, After finishing marathoning Dave The Barbarian, I wanted to find another classic for Sunday. Which do you think would be better? The Weekenders or Recess?
