That was really disappointing to me when I realized that. I would have been interested in seeing her get a real Arch-Enemy like the others did. Blackfire works well enough, but she's not large enough to carry a season.
I got the impression the writers weren't quite sure what to do with her beyond having a supporting role and/or being the love interest. Blackfire was a decent Evil Counterpart, but wasn't really Arc Villain material - a downside to being introduced in Season 1, I guess. And it took them much too long to bring in the Citadel, which were the only others characters related to her I can think of that they could've easily brought in.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I think she had potential to be a big villain. I mean, wasn't she the one who selled Starfire to the Gordonians in one of the versions? Also, a season in space could have been great.
I've never read the original comics but from what I've heard about that version of Blackfire and the show version, this one really didn't have what it took to be an arch-rival. Mainly because she didn't seem like the type to care. As I've heard it described Comic!Blackfire was a psychopath who would destroy worlds without a second thought. Show!Blackfire meanwhile comes off as a bratty teenaged girl.
... fair enough. But who said she had to be the main antagonist. What about having the Gordanians coming back as the main threat and both Starfire and Blackfire being in trouble because of this?

That could of been interesting....
They could have also introduced the Tamaranian "goddess" X-Hal as Starfire's arch-enemy.
Is that actually from the comic?
I feel like I remember hearing something from Glen Murakami about how the reason they never did a season focused on Starfire was because he didn't want the Titans to have to spend an entire season in space.
I think it had something to do with him never liking the arcs in X-Men comics where they went into space, because they lasted a long time and he always just wanted them to get back to earth quicker, and he wanted to avoid doing the same thing in Teen Titans.
That is actually pretty reasonable. I always hated arcs that do that.
Was is Josie and the Pussycats that had an arc like that, or one of the other Meddling Kids shows, I can't remember. Either way, it was dumb.

Yeah they did that. There was also a Casper Cartoon that did that as well. It's main Casper with 2 of the Angels (as space cops) and some other idiotic ghost.
Not even joking it was pretty bad. Then again...most of the cartoons of that era were due to parental groups....

I always loved the Terra episodes. While it doesn't justify Terra's actions, her excuses are understandable. She has self-esteem problems and is really confused with who she is.

Couldn't have them made it about the Tamaranians coming to Earth (with non-Tamaran breather episodes along the way) then?
And even then, a season set in space would have been a breath of fresh air from all the Earth based stuff.
How I might have done it would've been to have the story arc take place in space, but with filler episodes between that take place back on Earth. They always had those sillier episodes that had no bearing on the overarching plot, so this would be no different.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Apparently from what I read there was suppose to be more episodes to properly show Terra's betrayal but they had to cut it out for some reason or another. They had to cut out a lot of stuff over the show's run unfortunately....
I wouldn't have liked a season in space either. like part of what makes the team fun is seeing them act like teenagers, which in space you kind of really lose. Plus none of the alien villains were even good minus Blackfire.
Terra was cool especially when she turned and I'm totally upset the show ended the way it did.
Space travel would have been cool if the show could have used the non-Titans DC cosmic characters.
STAS showed you could do Lobo in a kid's show, and then there are the Green Lantern-related characters (G'Nort would have fit this show well), maybe a few not-too-powerful New Gods...
A season focusing on Starfire wouldn't necessarily have to have been in space. An alien threat could have come to Earth or they could have spent a season on Tamaran. With the latter it's not like they'd be traveling around the cosmos getting into wacky adventures like the previously mentioned bad cartoons.
I feel like being on Tamaran would count as "in space".
Oh God! Natural light!
Teen Titans Go!
Now on to this show, anyone ever find it weird that Starfire didn't have her own character arc like the other four did? She had episodes scattered here and there each season but nothing where the overall conflict clearly centered on or affected her more than the others.
