The first four story arcs (The Duck Knight Returns, Crisis on Infinite Darkwings, FOWL Disposition, and Campaign Carnage) got reworked into the Definitively Dangerous Edition, while Dangerous Currency was exiled from continuity; the Joe Books series (Starting with Orange is the New Purple) take place after Campaign Carnage.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I found this on Amazon, called "Disney Darkwing Duck: Orange Is the New Purple: Comics Collection". Is this the same thing, or something else?
Optimism is a duty. That's a paperback edition of issues 1-4 of the Joe Books run (the three Orange is the New Purple issues, and the Gnatmare issue).
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! And for reminder, Dynamite Entertainment has brought the series back. Well not the continuum from Boom and Joe Books, but stories are no less enjoyable.
Heck. Even with some continuing plot threads, each issue is a self contained done in one.
Also, Negaduck gets his own comic September: https://bleedingcool.com/comics/darkwing-duck-spins-off-negaduck-comic-series-from-dynamite/
Wait, when did this all happen?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Start of the year. Though I missed it last week due to recovering from a cold, we're up to 6 issues of DWD.
And in a thread I will be starting shortly, Gargoyles has made a return just prior around the end of last year. Plus we're getting another spinoff mini on that front this month with Gargoyles Dark Ages.
Anyway, as a note, Tad Stones and Greg Weisman actually did contribute slightly to the other's stuff. Stones (of Darkwing Duck) help to bring about Goliath: https://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=574
Greg Weisman came up with the name for DW's adopted daughter. Oh and a Garg Wiki article on Darkwing Duck:
I think I'll wait for the bundled edition for the Negaduck comics. Any idea when that will come out?
Optimism is a duty.If it is 5 to 6 issues, possible early next year.
So it's not a continuation of the previous comic series, but a reboot? That's somewhat disappointing, I was looking forward to seeing where that was going...
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Still has the same creative energy to it and worth a read.
And given some less desirable moments with comics (Like the recent The Amazing Spider-Man #26), a comic to recommend for those wanting something more fun and joyful.

I don't know, I heard plenty of fans were not very satisfied with where the previous series was going.
Optimism is a duty.I think it was getting better during the Joe Books era, but yeah the quality isn't worse off and it feels like the book gets the character and series down.
The Joe Books comics were really good, yeah. "Orange Is The New Purple" is one of my favorite Darkwing stories period.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. And the comic centering on DW's Number 2 enemy😉 is out next week:

Number 2? Man, Negaduck is going to be so pissed. Who is number 1?
Optimism is a duty.Dr. Slug.
... Who?
Optimism is a duty.https://darkwingduck.fandom.com/wiki/Dr._Slug
This guy. Kind of a joke that he really hasn't appeared much, but is ranked higher.

Doesn't ring a bell at all, to be honest. Also kind of hard to believe with the stuff Negaduck gets up to.
Optimism is a duty.Dr Slug basically never appeared physically. He mostly just mentioned mostly in context of being no 1 villain in St Canard and there is one episode that starts with Darkwing fighting him before it just...cuts away to different story because Darkwing pauses story to answer fanmail.
Funnily enough, there's an episode where Negaduck gets moved down to public enemy number two, and Does all sorts of crimes to take his spot back from Dr. Slug.
Yeah, that does sound like the sort of gags this show would do.
Optimism is a duty.Yeah, the whole joke was that he's actally Darkwing's real archnemesis and greatest enemy, but we never actually see him.
I think his only appearance was like two seconds at the start of "Inside Binkie's Brain," where it looks like we're about to get an episode about Darkwing fighting him only for Darkwing to literally stop the episode and change it to being about something else.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah, that joke would work well in the show, but it necessarily means the villain is not all that memorable compared to others.
Optimism is a duty.
It's a single book with all stories (except crossover) and numerous edits. Fill out plotholes, adds jokes, changes things that didn't work, etc.
