But also, like Twilight, this seems to have a lot of genuine criticisms going against it.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Except not really, most criticisms arguably come from things that came out of the low budget (like the cheap-sounding recording), and a lot of the more jarring stuff that people complain of was added under heavy executive pressure from crunchyroll.
Most of the issues are purely technical ones, it's like if people criticized, say, <insert good book here> because they printed it in comic sans because they only had access to that font for whatever reason, and because it had strange paragraph breaks because the publisher decided that the rules of paragraph breaks are stupid and wanted different ones for no discernable reason.
Like, the story's still mostly fine, but the presentation has been undermined at every turn.
It's certainly not something that should be possible to build entire channels around complaining about, but some people have done just that.
Didn't Twilight have Jacob be a groomer for Belle's daughter and appropriate Natives American culture?
E.T technically is a Isekai movieFrom what I've heard, High Guardian Spice is a bad show, just one that also gets a bit too much hate because of it's diversity. There's plenty of legitimate problems with it (feeling like a kid's show but arbitrarily having blood and swearing in it that makes the show come off as confused tone wise, clumsy writing in general, audio problems, etc), but it also attracts bigots because it's a female focused series with trans characters in it as well. Obviously not everyone who talks negatively about the show is a sexist transphobe, but overlap definitely happens.

For whatever quality issues High Guardian Spice had, a lot of the issues with the critical landscape revolving around the show is a combination of extended spotlight on it for a show that wasn't given enough resources or support to have even the chance to do well, didn't have any clout, didn't have a particularly obnoxious creative team, but still allows for hate channels to have years of content focused sole on skewering it and aimed at their creative team and their want for diversity, rather than the executives at Crunchyroll.
It would be like taking an amateur/home cook, put them as a line chef for a busy restaurant with no instruction or support, then complain when they flounder and then blame it on allowing minorities in the kitchen, to try and make an analogy. A lot of the issues with the criticisms is that it only takes account of the finished product, doesn't go into the context of its production, then misassigns blame, and then use the weight of social engagement as a means to lend themselves authority and any additional good-faith criticism just adds weight or obfuscates the bad-faith criticism that was driving the momentum in the first place. HGS is not very qualitative work, even those who think it has merit consider it middling at best, but I don't think it's a show that deserved to be raked over the coals as much as it has been, especially when a decent chunk of it is as an example of "go woke, go broke".

What did you think of "Dino Checks Out?"

For me a bizarre tribute/take that to Frank Sinatra.

I'm honestly gonna wait until he completes the series before I watch the whole thing.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Irrelevant to the new video, but I've been watching Wishfart thanks to Enter recommending it in his recent video about underrated cartoons, and I can confirm it really is better and more clever than the title makes it seem.

Is it fair for me to say that High Guardian Spice is The Room of animated shows?
Nah, The Room is actually entertaining.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectUh its not that bad. Just bland and really bad production values (In terms of voice acting, sound design and animation),. Like if it were a normal kids show a few years back and Not the weird mature stuff I really doubt anyone would care.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."It's generally fine, but it looks and sounds cheap, which is treated as a huge issue because there's more than one trans character in it.
Did you say that because Mr. Enter put dialogue from The Room in the video?
Either way, the answer is no. As he said, HGS would be better if it were worse. Then it would be an ironic masterpiece like The Room.
Yeah, HGS's biggest crime is that it's straight up boring in contrast to the creators' hype for the show.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectThe review of the next High Guardian Spice episode.
Someone mentioned earlier about Crunchyroll having a bunch of weird mandates for the show. Could someone elaborate on that?
When he ripped Sage's misandrist claims apart in his review, I agreed while thinking how I believe that not all Real Men Eat Meat and can have some of the same cravings that women get (e.g. ice cream).

Mr. Enter reviews the 7th episode of High Guardian Spice, "The Cave of Vinca".
To be honest, I think this show's foundation and lore (what little there is) could've worked as a video game, maybe an action RPG.

its basically Twilight and Justin Beiber from a few decades ago; more hated for who it is for (basically anyone but cishet male WASPs) rather than its own merits
