I feel like it would help if the only "failure" condition was "wipe before the quota is reached", and then you get progressively better bonuses for surviving to the end of the wave or exceeding the quota. I know the point system kinda does the latter because the points are based on eggs collected, but I feel like you should get some sort of extra reward for getting, say, 50+ eggs on a 23 quota wave. I know Mr. Grizz (or Lil Judd) is kind of an awful boss, but c'mon, from a gameplay perspective it would be cool to get like a 100 point bonus for that.
One interesting thing would be if the mode has "awards" similar to the main mode, where achieving them nets you extra points. For stuff like "most boss Salmonids splatted", "most teammates rescued", etc.

Well, just makes sense I suppose.
I missed the part where that's my problem.I’ve never looked closely at the model before
Geez, that’s alarming
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI mean, get something pointy and it'll explode
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaGuess who's socially inept and just managed to pull off a no-hack Side Order run with Eight's pallette? This guy!
Here's my pallette as of the end:
- Armor Drop
- Drone-Guage Charge
- Drone Splat Bomb × 2
- Hindrance Damage × 3
- Homing Shots
- Ink Damage
- Ink Saver (Main)
- Main Damage (Close) × 2
- Main Range
- Main Firing Speed × 2
- Main Piercing
- Mobile Drone Guage × 2
- Mobile Ink Recovery
- Lucky Bomb Drop × 5
- Shot-Spread Reduction
- Special Charge Up
- Splat Ink Recovery
- Splash Damage × 3
- Splash Radius × 2
My strategy:
- Lucky Bomb Drop is your best friend. Prioritise it over all else, and try to max it out. At max level, it makes swarms of Jelletons a doddle.
- Your secondary priority is your main weapon's damage output. Ink Damage, Main Damage (Close), and Main Damage (Distant) are important, and should be picked over everything except Lucky Bomb Drop.
- Main Firing Speed is almost as important as main weapon damage, as it effectively multiplies damage per time. Be sure to grab it if it comes up.
- Of equal importance is ink recovery chips, of any description.
- Next on the list should be Main Piercing, as in a fight against a swarm of Jelletons, it effectively multiplies damage per shot.
- You'll also want to grab chips that increase your specials, be they Canned Special Drop or chips that increase the special guage. Not only does Triple Splashdown clear all Jelletons in your immediate vicinity, it also instantly refills your main weapon.
- Don't bother with vending machines unless you have at least 1000 membux. If you have less than that, you'll only be able to buy one color chip, so you might as well play a normal floor to get the same number of chips plus some extra membux. (The vending machine on 5F only ever has one color chip available, so don't go into it unless you've managed to bring at least 1500 membux)
- Conversely, if you do have 1000 membux, opt for the vending machine in favour of normal floors. There's less chance of being knocked out, and you can get more chips.
- After 20F, you don't have to bother with Danger floors. The Danger rating won't increase so much that all floors are Dangerous, so there's no need to nip it in the bud, and you should probably just skip the extra challenge.
- Don't bother with the following chips: Squid Attack, Rush Attack, Rush Knockback, Ink Bottle Drop. Anything else is more useful.
I'm halfway finished with the spring 2024 catalog.

If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned. At Level 59. Sucks I missed out on the haori for my Recycled Brella 24 MkI gear loadout from a few catalogs ago because I'm part of the new blood (got hooked last December).

"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."My current goal is to get 2 catalog levels each night, so right near the end of May is when I'll hit level 100.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.I may have missed it, but did they allow players to work on previous catalogs when the seasons are over?
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."Of course not, they wouldn't be able to pressure you with FOMO if you could do that.
I missed the part where that's my problem. The rewards are still... sorta obtainable? But yeah old catalogues don't carry over.
Old emotes are added to the pool of Shell-Out Machine drops, and old gear is included in the back half for each Season's catalogue now (theoretically meaning if future seasons past Sizzle 2024 just reuse the Drizzle '23-Sizzle '24 catalogues that no gear would be missable).
I think old locker decorations and banners are out of luck for the moment, though.

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaWell that's... kinda acceptable, I guess.
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."You can buy old locker decorations at Hotlantis; I still see a lot of the Fresh Season 2023 game consoles on the shelves from time to time.
As for the banners... I'm pretty sure you also get those from the Shell-Out Machine, but I can't be certain.
"Hmm... it appears that browsing this wiki doesn't seem to violate any school rules. Continue." | My WallI'm currently at Level 81, but I'm taking a bit of a break to regain confidence in Splatoon, as I've exhausted myself from doing Splatfests etc.
I corrected my post, I accidentally said "spring 2023" instead of "spring 2024".
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.i finished a Side Order 4-hack Eight's Palette run like 2 days ago and i'm not sure why but i think my heart rate kept rising with every run
is that a good thing or

Think we're ready for that next floor, Eight. Was it particularly stressful and panic inducing?
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."hmmm
kinda i guess?
like whenever i got to the final boss (which was like 4 times before the successful attempt), i'd always be panicking whenever the tiniest ink drop got to me because haha, limited lives! haha, if i lose my 2-3 lives, that's another attempt down the drain! haha, i shouldn't've turned on risky rewards!
i'm happy i get to play the fun Side Order again tho, i love experimenting with the most unhinged and most overpowered color chip combinations ever
edit: i just realized my original post said "i'm not sure why" when i know exactly why people's heart rates rise
oops

Think we're ready for that next floor, Eight.Because this game is my go-to comparison for all roguelikes, an Eight's Palette with minimal hacks run is the rough equivalent of Tainted Lost. Not quite as CBT though
I've seen others say before roguelikes are a spectrum from "skill makes any run doable in theory" to "we hate you. good luck" with Isaac being veeeeery far on the latter side.
Side Order is the former, naturally; you get a ton of leniency for builds and even a random assortment of stuff is workable.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaIsaac varies depending on which character you're playing as. Most of them are more skill-based. Tainted Lost (and Jacob to a lesser degree) are the fuck-you characters
Meanwhile Noita is an entirely skill based game that feels like a "Fuck You" game.
Why waste time when you can see the last sunset last?Meanwhile, Risk of Rain, belting out an Evil Laugh:

I'm not mad... I'm just disappointed.
