Hands up anybody wanting to see Mikkel in stupid golf gear after this... xD
In this update, we get a short and concise explanation of what golf is.
How does Minna do it? Foam, mist, cloud and waves: she's very good at most things, but she really excels at depicting those.
When it comes to atmospheric effects, minimal ink lines and maximum watercolour. The key word is watercolour.
Now I'm going to check the site daily, knowing full well there will be nothing there.
I very much doubt you'll be alone.
New page, and apparently Lalli is using magics again.
Another update, AND NO ONE CARES.
I care! I just haven't posted yet.
Poor Tuuri. You gotta check the headphone volume before you start a call.
Hey! I chat a lot! (Just... not in this thread.) It's not like I'm hard to spot.
When the community is that chatty elsewhere, it's not the end of the world if it's fairly quiet in this corner of the web, you know. <hugs>

Just started reading this. So far I'm mostly enjoying the Cultural Posturing aspects.
Well, once you realize the author is half-finnish, and currently resides in Finland (with plans to stay)... it becomes Self-Deprecation.

From what I read she's a Swede who moved to Finland, and seems to identify more with her old homeland than her new one. But oh well, it's not all that relevant.
I've just reached the part with the Sveavägen. A big armoured train with a bloodstained circular saw on the front... That thing is badass.
EDIT: On page 198, and only now I'm figuring out that Tuuri is female (because someone referred to her as "she").

Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...I can confirm the half-Finn thing. She's very recently moved back there to a small town/ largish village within spitting distance of several family members. And, she's thrilled.
She's also always been tied to Finnish commercial codes, btw. Which, tells you where the business is registered, regardless of whether she's hopped borders for months at a time or not.
So, you can read those pages bearing all this in mind and bathe in the deliberate irony.
The last two pages show a ship at full sea – presumably a fishing ship, as there is a giant fish on the main sail.
It makes me wonder – is there any threat at sea? Did the Illness create any sea-monsters? They seem rather relaxed about sailing once they're well away from the coast.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...I believe Word of God is that whales are now horrifying leviathans (the illness affects all mammals except cats, after all), but they're probably too close to the coast to worry about that too much.
Seals, walruses, otters, whales, orca, dolphins, porpoises, manatees... and, at a pinch, people. All what you can expect of sea-faring beasties and giants.
And, given how many seals like a lot of company from time to time, I'd bet on them gianting-up at the drop of a hat.

On another note, I like how this comic handles the male-female balance. As we all know, women are severely underrepresented in most works of fiction. Then you get things like Girl Genius which does have a lot of female characters in important places... but they're mostly young, spunky Action Girl types (Zeetha, Violetta, Sanaa, Bangladesh DuPree, and of course Agatha herself). In Stand Still Stay Silent, there's plenty of variety in both male and female characters. We've got a middle-aged fishing ship captain who is female, and I'd say that's pretty cool.
Right, social justice minute is over. I'm sorry if this brought back any ugly memories of Tumblr for anyone here.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...You apologized, and that's what counts.
;)
Finally, plot!
The build-up was worth it. And, Emil just has to jinx his own attempts at good first impressions. Again.
Emil is like, "NOPE"
Which, in a world full of deadly quasi-human monsters, is a pretty sensible reaction to an unexpected stowaway.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...
On the new page Emil just barfs. I'm pretty sure it's easy to find, being the next page to the one linked above.
