Cartoon Network in General

I also watch mostly cartoons, but it's a little harder to find more than a few that hold my interest now. I usually binge on one series and then move onto another that hooks me. My schedule is too packed during the week to consistently watch something on TV unless I record it.

Ah, the City Era. Pretty much my high point of nostalgia.

I forgot all about Miguzi.

I was born the year Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, and IM Weasel aired.

I remember the City Era, and then when Re-Animated aired *shudder* that was when the CN Great Depression began

I miss the city era. That was one of the highest heights Toonami ever had, was being featured on the summer preview show, with their own big chunk. Ah, but then the ATHF fiasco happened.

Also, bat, you missed one really important show in your timeline: Space Ghost Coast To Coast, CN's very first original show.

I just miss the City Era for the creative bumpers it had.

(old man voice) Back in my day, Boomerang was a program block, not a channel!

I don't think our cable had Cartoon Network until 1999 or so, so the first era I saw was the Powerhouse Era, which I watched all the time, especially Cartoon Cartoon Fridays. I also watched the City Era but not as avidly, except for Foster's Home, Camp Lazlo, and the older stuff.

(old lady voice) According to this timeline, I was born before Cartoon Network itself.

My cable company didn't get CN until 2000-01 or so. Before then I'd watch it sporadically at my aunt's or grandmother's.

Cartoon Network was pretty integrated into much of my childhood since back in the day The Disney Channel was a premium channel like HBO.

I started watching it right when the Cartoon Cartoons first started appearing. I as the Cartoon Cartoons got more popular, the Hanna & Barbera cartoons got pushed to a Sunday block until the eventually were phased out completely. The "Powerhouse Era" is probably what I remember most fondly because that was around the time that Toonami was blessed to us and that was the block me and my friends would rush home from school to watch.

By time the City Era hit I'm in High School so I'm not watching nearly as much as I used to. I'm religiously watching Adult Swim (and Inuyasha, because it used to be cool to do so.) But most of my free time is going towards video games. By time the Dork Age hit, I'm in College, so I'm definitely not watching the station like I use to.

Now, I just follow a few shows, or at least the shows they haven't cancelled yet.

With the exception of Yu-Gi-Oh, I wasn't that much into anime. I didn't really watch Toonami that much (unless if Teen Titans was on). I watched a lot of Miguzi, which was kinda similar.

I AM trying to become more of a mixture of Otaku and Western Animation fan.

Toonami was definitely the Gateway Series for most 90 kids who became anime fans. When i was a little kid I was obsessed with superhero cartoons and pro wrestling so stuff like Dragon Ball Z was the perfect segweigh into the world of anime.

I finished my last College Exams so I can finally stop caring about spelling.

Lucky. I still have a week and a half or so left.

The only people I knew who liked anime were antisocial, jerkasses, or antisocial jerkasses. Except for my sister, who was 9 in 2001 and would throw Sailor Moon quotes at me. Filtered through her, Sailor Moon seemed like the dumbest thing ever to me. Of course, I never actually bothered to look at the TV... and seeing as I was 14 in 2001, that might've made a world of difference.

I'm Graduating this weekend. Officially done with that chapter of my life.

I remember when Williams Street was REALLY upfront that Toonami was a spinoff from Space Ghost Coast To Coast, with the CLYDE's broadcasting to the Ghost Planet, and the block being hosted by Moltar from Space Ghost's studio.

Jeez, Space Ghost Coast to Coast really WAS the most important show in Cartoon Network history, wasn't it?

Toonami was my big intro to anime as a kid too, though I've only ever been a kinda-sorta anime fan since then: I'll watch some if someone recommends or if I run across one that has a premise I like, have some among my favorite shows and am generally knowledgeable about them and the industry (thanks in part to this site), but my obsession has always been Western Animation.

My favorite anime is still Yu Yu Hakusho, thanks to Adult Swim and Toonami. Detective Conan's a close second, though - also thanks to Adult Swim. And then of course there's Dragon Ball (with Z being my fourth favorite).

You're going straight to Grad School? More power to you, I'm taking a break before I tackle that.

It's funny, I think Yu Yu Hakusho, more than the other shows, really holds up overtime.

It has definitely improved ten fold from 5 years ago!! I just wish they wouldn't limit their most valuable shows to the prime time hours of the week before 8 PM! It really makes it difficult for me to catch all the premieres.

In 2006 I worked at a studio producing shows for Nick. Two of my co-workers wound up marrying and moving to LA to work on the animation for Out of Jimmy's Head. ...... then that went to pot. Cue me never ever getting as good enough work as that studio ever since, but the couple wound up at Disney, working on what wound up being the highest-grossing animated film of all time. -__-

Hated the show. But I was thrilled for my two friends.
