Russia wants the SBU to face justice, even though ISIS insisted it's all them.
How is that the mass murdering terrorist organization is being the more reasonable and honest party in this?

Disgusted, but not surprisedThis feel orwellian comedy: a terrorist organization land one of the biggest and deadly atack on your capital and the party demand you point someone else and belive them.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"That's the point of terrorism, isn't it? ISIS is like "be afraid of us, not those Ukrainians over there!"
Where there's life, there's hope.I hope that even if the Kremlin is publicly blaming Ukraine, their intelligence is focusing on ISIS. The terrorists might be planning a follow-up, especially as their initial attack isn't getting them the attention they wanted.
Depends on whether the FSB is focused more on finding "evidence" linking Ukraine to the attack or on preventing future attacks.
...It's the former obviously.
Disgusted, but not surprisedItโs cause ISIS isnโt accounted for in your propaganda campaign.
Itโs also an unfriendly reminder for Russia of their flawed middle eastern campaigns, not unlike how the 9/11 attacks are the scars of the United States involving themselves in the Middle East.
Iโm not sure if this is irony, poetry, or some sort of mix of the two.
In any case, itโs almost surreal that ISIS isnโt being treated seriously by Russia. Itโs almost as if they are taunting ISIS by not noticing them. If a second attack happensโฆ.

I discover my own destiny as I command the winds of life!It was accounted for in their propaganda.
The problem is that their propaganda was that they had already defeated ISIS years ago.
Disgusted, but not surprisedRight, because defeating terrorism is so easy.
I discover my own destiny as I command the winds of life!
I need to link the interview by Galeotti. He said that he knows people in the FSB who are really upset that their superiors are being told to "find something" to easily blame Kyiv/SBU.
The thing is that it's probably vital for Putin to put the blame on Ukraine. If the intelligence service admits that they completely failed to account for ISIS despite warnings from the US of all people, it will be a huge blow to the illusion of safety they've convinced Russians that they live under.
Mere days after Putin's election, this could be devastating for his public opinion. If he successfully puts the blame on Ukraine, he'll at least drum up additional support for his war.
Seems like VEVAK also tried to persuade Russia to pay attention to the ISIS threat too.
The article also notes that Russian security agencies are more concerned with "silencing political dissent and opposition" to Putin than they are with investigating terrorist threats.
I doubt any of us here were surprised FSB was full of shit, but it's nice to see an official news article about it.
Disgusted, but not surprisedWell, the "degree of specificity" depends on how many other places were included in the warning.

Or maybe - hear me out on this - just maybe the Russians are once again lying their ass off? You know, the kind of thing they're known for by now?

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. They still blame the attack on Ukraine and the USA.
The same attack the USA warned them against.
Disgusted, but not surprisedWhat are you arguing against? This article doesnโt mention how many places were named by the US warning. If Crocus was the only one, they would word this differently.
Edited by Smeagol17 on Apr 3rd 2024 at 4:34:46 PM
Okay, so how many specific targets would you consider to be too many to be considered a "specific" warning? What, if the number of targets didn't all fit on a cocktail napkin you'd just ignore them as too vague?
And honestly, if the USA had only named Crocus Hall, that would just lead to the FSB and Putin blaming the USA for the attack.
Oh wait, they're doing that anyway.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIt's even funnier (and sad) that the Iranians also warned Moscow of such an attack.
Five.
(The article also claims they didnโt โignoreโ them.)
