Welcome! Seasonal jobs are apparently very lucrative.
/has not job-hunted for a long time and is probably out of the loop
make it through this year if it kills you yet | 2001-2019Finally sorted out a bunch of bullshit with my paycard. I'm still locked out of my email, of course, but hey, one thing at a time.
So, working nine hours a week out of my requested 15-20 at ten cents above minimum wage has netted me a whopping... little over 150.
I'm never gonna go to college...
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistYou could try for a scholarship and/or financial aid. I technically cannot afford the tuition at university that I'm attending right now. I started out in junior college on financial aid and pell grants and became eligible for some academic scholarships. After getting my Associate's (informally, never officially graduated), I applied to various universities and was eventually accepted. Not sure how it all works in Kansas, but that might be a route you could take.
make it through this year if it kills you yet | 2001-2019Holy donuts, a text circle jerk of like-minded nerds clustered around a specific set of parameters?!
Count me in! I want to belong! I am a human! I do human things! Humans like to belong to social groups!
War is God.Dude! Make yourself at internet forum home!
make it through this year if it kills you yet | 2001-2019Hooray, gregariousness.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistIt iced overnight. It looks like snow from the window, but it's just crummy, slippery ice that you can't make snowmen with. >:/
make it through this year if it kills you yet | 2001-2019It only gets below freezing here if the night was clear; therefore, we don't get any snow.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseSame. We had constant sleet since sometime last afternoon to this morning, built up on ground to look like snow
A week ago I tried to use the spray thingy to clean my windshield while driving and it froze over instantly.
It was mildly terrifying. I also learned my brake pads are almost worn to nothing that day.
Oh really when? That sounds Funny In Hindsight
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseYikes! Be sure to get those brake pads fixed soon if you haven't already.
make it through this year if it kills you yet | 2001-2019It's fairly high up on my list of shit I need to buy right above socks but below a PS 4.
Oh really when?I'm glad my job is near enough that I can walk to it, but it's still a miserable experience on most days.
How come, frosty? Bad co-workers?
I do have to admit that having your workplace close by is awesome, though. You must save a lot on gas.
I was referring to the cold. Even 15 minutes is a long time at -30. My coworkers are pretty good, though.
Yeah, it's definitely starting to get cold where I'm from. Good to hear about the co-workers.
It's just starting to get cold? I'm not sure whether to pity or envy you :P How's your job? Good coworkers also?
It's 60 degrees out, I want it to start getting cold soon.
Oh really when?I don't have a job, but the snow hit where I live this morning so there's that. If I can learn to be a bit more responsible, then my brother might help me get one. I need to do homework, research how to get a job, and work on interview skills.
Didn't you say it was cold enough to instantly freeze wiper fluid? Or do you just live somewhere with crazy temperature fluctuations?
Ah. I didn't realize. Well I wish you luck!!

It was like two weeks ago. Then it was 75, now it's 60. Yesterday I had Silent Hill level fog and it was 45.
It's supposed to be 20 by friday.
I really hate the weather lately.
Oh really when? That actually sounds like really cool weather. Then again, I'm from an area where -40 is not unheard of, so I'm probably seeing things differently.

No it's terrible and 20 degrees this morning and it got down to 10 last night. My passenger door was frozen shut and friends had climb over me and through the back seat.
Also had to stand on the hood and kick ice off the windshield because I'm too poor to buy an ice scraper.
I don't think I'd mind it if it was at least consistent. I hate dealing with ice one day and beach weather the next.

Oh really when?
Uh... hey. Seventeen year old posting here because I have nothing better to do besides reading/studying.
What's this I hear about seasonal jobs?
