[up][up]I think that that's what most people are going for- that if Rarity and Spike (or any other such couple as discussed earlier- I'll admit to a fondness for Wendip, sue me), it would be some years down the road when they've had more chances to become their own people and the age gap is proportionately less. Though I suppose even then there can be a little awkwardness if they've known each other since those early days.

I don't think Rarity is ever going to date Spike seriously, to be honest.

No, she won't. Age gap is too big.

Plus, it kinda looks like he got over her by the time of the finale.

Yeah, but on top of that, I don't think she's really into dragons, or Spike, for that matter.

Not denying later events sunk it, just that there was a shed of validity once the ship started that has been sunk by later events.

This was added to Characters. My Little Pony Equestria Girls Sunset Shimmer:

  • Informed Ability: She was apparently Princess Celestia's most prized magic pupil before she went to the Human World and Twilight came along. But in the series she never, without external sources, displays any more advanced magic than teleportation which is normal for unicorn prodigies. It's only in her Loose Canon prequel comic where she demonstrates unique spells. However, she does Teleport in the first movie, a spell that is implied to be quite complex.

Should the last part be removed as arguing with itself and the old entry I believe this thread approving when I ran the matter by here?

Also she did display a lot of magical know-how, but failed in application (knew how to bypass the Element of Magic but didn't foresee everything after, able to study magic in the human world but had no success). Thought about that and if relevant to this?

Word of God has stated Sunset's "Pretty strong, but no where near Twilights unicorn magic levels... she left equestria when she was still a student." Is this relevant or not?

I've argued that Sunset's abilities while impressive are baseline compared to other unicorn prodigies as opposed to being the best of the best being Celestia's student's supposed to imply, thought the other prodigies that would so overshadow Sunset/establish her at base were only introduced afterwards.

Perhaps they messed up and meant to write she did levitation in the first part as the 'easier' spell which is shown by a bunch of unicorns and meant for teleportation to be a complex spell. I'm pretty sure Trixie mastered levitation but struggled to teleport objects where she wanted them to go and just 'ported the friendship map/table to a unintended space.

Wonder what you all think of this moment where pretty much everyone uses Twilight's name as a verb?

I disagree. Maybe if he was portrayed as a baby it'd make sense and hold up but he doesn't. Say what you will about Sparky and how G5 being related to Fi M has its own issues, he at least actually acts like you'd expect a baby dragon to.

I think you misunderstood my point. The term "baby dragon" is relative to the giant adult dragons. It's not meant to imply that he's a literal baby in the human/pony sense, since that obviously isn't the case. But compared to adult dragons, he basically is a baby.

Post of the Week #3604

The reason they were selling apples at the Gala was just to replace stuff that they needed, not to stave off bankruptcy, plus the Apples were going to leave Sweet Apple Acres when Flim and Flam "won". And Applejack outright says that "We need that cider to make it through the winter!"

Responding to this post:

Since the TV channel where I watched MLP (Mini Mini) often repeated episodes of ponies when there were no new seasons, I watched the episode in which Trixie debuted several times in a row, which kept my hate of her feed (given I disliked Trixie for being a selfish jerk and for bullying Rarity, Applejack and RD), and if I would ever meet her in real life, I would had acted similar to Twilight.

Little weird given Twilight already forgave Trixie at the end of Magic Duel so it is odd how she goes back to being a Jerkass to One to her in seasons 6 despite forgiving Trixie by then.

[up][up]First did you dislike her for different reasons than was intended by the work? (And thoughts about why many fans considered her a Designated Villain in her debut?)

The issue is "Magic Duel" had Twilight rescue Trixie from Alicorn Amulet's influence and seemingly had the two on good terms/Trixie redeemed. Would you have so disliked Trixie if watching them in order as opposed to her worst on a loop?

And how do/can we reconcile this with her continued distrust/rivalry starting with "No Second Prances"?

  • Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell which was set between had Trixie antagonistic suggesting a relapse, but given it ignores "Magic Duel" and other issues we fans didn't take it seriously. (Note that the author had joined the show's writers by "No Second Prances".)
  • Twilight was Secretly Selfish over proving her worth as Starlight's teacher, and Starlight doing it a way that made her part meaningless?
  • Discord's Faceā€“Heel Revolving Door in "Twilight's Kingdom" making Twilight more skeptical over redemptions (see her initial reluctance after first meeting Sunset in Rainbow Rocks) or concerned about relapse.

I'd say this is because "Magic Duel" nearly saved Trixie, but didn't give the inertial impetus/realization to change her ways "No Second Prances" did, the rest was an attempt at moral grayness which the series never really handled well.

Do you guys know how Saffron Masala homeland is called? Because the only thing about it that I know is that is located in the south of Equestria and is inspired by India.

Also, do you guys think that Diamond Dogs are MLP answer to gnolls (I'm writing this in the wake of release of the Our Gnolls Are Different trope which the Diamond Dogs seem to fit)?

Also, do you think that Diamond Dogs count as gnolls?

No, I came up with that, but it does sound like the sort of name they'd come up with.

I don't think she has a location.

[up] If you want, I can put your idea of Saffron's homeland name on the show's WMG page. Also, do you think that Diamond Dogs count as newly created "Our Gnolls Are Different" trope, given they're similar anthropomorphic canines?

I don't know, the Diamond Dogs feel pretty unique.

Saffron Masala is a really on-the-nose name, by the way, even for this show. Like calling a Texan pony Chili Hotdog or something. But then this show has a tendency to go for stereotypes for foreign ponies.

Optimism is a duty.

[up] I don't think that your statement of Diamond Dogs being unique from gnolls fits, since my first thought when I saw this trope in Trope Launch Pad was "Wait, are those Diamond Dogs from MLP?surprised(mind blown)". Any way, I'm gonna write your idea for a name for Saffron's homeland on the show's WMG page, and I will credit you in the description.

[up][up] I put your idea of the name of Saffron's homeland on the show's setting WMG page and credited you. Also, have you know that Saffron is a actual name in real life? (found it when I was looking how to write "Saffron" correctly).
