Today is Purnima i guess.
लड़का जो जिंदा बच गया (The boy who lived)Indeed. How've you been, Zephyr? It's been a while.
This is a signature.Good Good.. You know winter is coming, my favourite season. Only regret is where I live we can't play with snow. BTW my calender is saying that on 9 is Ganesh Chaturthi but Wikipedia article says that it falls between August and September. I'm confused.
लड़का जो जिंदा बच गया (The boy who lived)I need to check at my calendar, more often. I have a digital application for it, but I forget to use it.
This is a signature. My calender is based on Vikram Samvat but our national calender is Saka calendar based on Sakas. Maybe it's something to do with this.
लड़का जो जिंदा बच गया (The boy who lived)Happy New Year to everyone!!

लड़का जो जिंदा बच गया (The boy who lived)Thank you, Zephyr. It's been a while. I should get back to using this coven.
This is a signature.Hello, there. I am not a Hindu myself (I am a nondenominational Christian). But I've always respected the Hindu faith and I've studied a good bit on it, or at least the general summaries of events in Hindu manuscripts.
Space Wolf, if I have read your profile right, you're a worshiper of Vishnu? if I may ask, how do you (or other Vaishnavites) look at Shiva or the other Gods in the pantheon?
I see Shiva and Brahma as being the other aspects of Brahman, but I do not worship them or see them as truly separate entities. Vaishnavism is monotheistic, as are most of the main Hindu sects. The notion that Hinduism has a pantheon is misleading. Aside from certain forms of Folk Hinduism, it hasn't been truly polytheistic since the Historical Vedic Religion (which barely resembles the current faith). I see Vishnu as Ishvara (the Supreme Being), but I'm perfectly cool with people worshiping Shiva. In fact, I'd like to study more on Shiva, since I know little about his worship. In short, I see any other deities as being different interpretations of Brahman, but I don't revere them. Now, I'm not speaking for all of my Vaishnava brethren, because some of us reject the concept of the Trimurti, but that's how I see things.
Anyway, welcome to our coven. If you know anyone else who would like to know more about the faith, you may invite them here. It's still a small club, but I'd also like to start talking about topical matters and current events.

This is a signature. This exists, and someone I know is a member. I have found a coven.
I became a Hindu around the same time my parents did. I find it to be a very comforting faith. Reincarnation means you don't have to be afraid of death, which has always been a problem for me, and it also has the idea that you don't necessarily have to follow THIS RELIGION TO THE LETTER to get eternal happiness. As a naturally nervous person, Hinduism is a sanctuary for me.
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?Welcome, TMI. I hope that you find this place to your liking.
This is a signature. What on Earth is the deal with transpersonal chakras? I keep looking for non-New Age "info" on this topic, but get zilch. Can you guys help me?
(Cross-posted at the Buddhist Tropers thread, since the topic pertains to both Hinduism and Buddhism)

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Huh. That's a thing, I guess. I learned something new. I'm a Hindu, and I only know up to the crown chakra. Guys, what do you make of this?
This is a signature.Janmashtami is coming up.
This is a signature. It appears none of the regular posters here know anything about this. How unfortunate.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Yep. I'll see if I can track down more information on it.
Unrelated:
- I have been editing the 'Useful Notes' page on Hinduism, because it was fairly weak and misleading. It's still a bit too short for my taste, and we should probably add tropes.
- I kind of want someone to create a similar page on Jainism, since all other Indian faiths have one, but I'm not deeply informed on it. Because of this, I may revive the General Eastern Faith Coven.
- Krishna Janmashtami is on the fifth, but, as usual, I have no way to celebrate (other than possibly starting the Mahabharata).
- I'm getting very tired of seeing hate on the swastika in its original context. It's our second most important symbol, so this warrants discussion.

This is a signature.Happy Janmashtami, friends.
This is a signature.Hey what's up, sorry to bother you guys but I would like to ask you a favor.
I was wondering if someone could confirm this is legit and if so was wodering if I could get a link to a trustable site that has the "Brahmavaivarta Purana." Specifically for this text (a link to that text would be even better).
Don't worry it's for a fun secret proyect and doesn't have anything to do about religious wars or anything serious at all.
p.d I promise to show you when it's ready.
Thank you in advance!

Forgiveness is beyond justice, faith is superior than hope, redemption is better than perfection and love is greater than them all.I've yet to delve into the Puranas. I'll see about this.
This is a signature. Thanks alot! Also as curiosity, I would like to ask about gautama maharishi. How was a simple mortal like Gautama Maharishi able to curse Indra, conidering the later was a very powerful god.
I mean it's pretty cool, but I thought gods were much more powerful, aren't they?

Forgiveness is beyond justice, faith is superior than hope, redemption is better than perfection and love is greater than them all. It's cool i got this confirmed by a scholar, Indra did rape ahyala, I'm still curious on how a mortal was able to overpower a god though.
Forgiveness is beyond justice, faith is superior than hope, redemption is better than perfection and love is greater than them all.Unfortunately, I'm a bit fuzzy on Vedism. It's not my boat. Anyway, happy Diwali.
This is a signature.Here it's the surprise I promised:
I got Indra on cracked.com! I'm aware Brama, Vishnu and Shiva are above him, but it's accurate for earlier versions of Vedism according to my research.
