@Smasher: That's a debatable distinction.

0dd1@ I don't find any of the films overly sentimental. Which ones are?
Oh, I meant films in general, not Disney/Pixar specifically.

I thought Up was great, though really the only reason people regard it so highly is because its Doug Walkers favorite Pixar film.

Please don't try that. The film was highly regarded 4 years ago when it first came out.

I'm not so certain he has the ego people portray him as having, but that's irrelevant to this thread.

So what's Disney's non-Pixar film division working on now?

[up][up] He doesn't have an ego, but his character certainly does.

I was joking when I said that and didn't expect people to come defending the very film I love against me.

Okay, back to topic: Define overly sentimental. I think its good to have lots of emotion and passion in films, without it they can be dull and uninteresting (ie Harry Potter) half the time.

Can anyone find me a picture of the eight Disney Princesses based off the old fairy tales? Namely Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Tiana, and Rapunzel.

I really liked Tangled, probably one of my favorite of the princess movies.

Only problem was that a couple of the jokes didn't hit and the character development was a little too fast.

Pocahontas and Mulan are inspired by true events that have become legend. Brave is an original story. The other eight are princesses from old fairy tales that were written hundreds of years ago. I can't seem to find an image of the eight Disney fairy tale princesses.

If you were trying to direct me to [1] then those 16 or just the eight princesses would be good but I want it in a drawing.

I dunno, you could always find a deviantartist who takes requests and ask them to do so.

I have done that. I mostly find the original six, at least ten, or it's all fairy tale princesses with some missing. Usually Jamine is among the missing for some reason.

If there's a deviantartist who takes requests that would be good but I don't know how I'd find one.

An image of them separate is the best I can find. I really like the couples even though it's just the original six.

[up]x7 Um, just a small nitpick, but Mulan wasn't a real person. She was based off of an ancient Chinese poem, "The Ballad of Mulan".

Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.

[up][up] I can't find it written one way or the other but if you're sure then you can go ahead and correct the first paragraph of Pocahontas's page where it talks about Mulan.

I know the term "synergy" gets thrown around mightily in this case, but for Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation, there is a definite push-pull going on. Observe: Pixar's Cars has Lightning McQueen believing that racing and the Piston Cup are all there is to life. When McQueen ends up in backwater Radiator Springs, his priorities get an overhaul. Then Disney comes out with Bolt, where Bolt believes that he's a superhero protecting Penny from sinister Doctor Calico. When Bolt gets shipped by accident to New York, Mittens systematically bursts Bolt's bubbles. Lightning McQueen ends up a decent, normal car / Bolt ends up a happy, normal dog.

In effect, it's greener-grass syndrome. And both studios are benefiting from it.

Pretty big stretch there. Lots of movies use that plotline.
