"Scalies, which is just furries WITH REPTILES"
There is your problems.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.what's the problem?
New theme music also a boxHonestly, none, Sisu isnt really my cup of tea, but finding her cute isnt really a problem. But Furries latch on to characters with interesting designs and that's why it should be no surprise.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Plot doesn't matter. A nice design is a nice design.
It's been 3000 years…Raya and the Last Dragon is just Zootopia for scalies.
"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."I like Sisu, but I never got why people say she looks like Elsa. :S I’m just not seeing it. ^_^;;
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. It was a snark I made to be honest. What do scalies actually think of the movie, though? Don't like getting hyped up for something only for it to turn out to be garbage.
(cough) star vs (cough)

"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."It has dragons, they like dragons with with hair
New theme music also a boxI might want an actual scalie troper to answer that question for me.
"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."Probably for the same reason the Onceler had a huge tumblr sexyman fandom. People will fixate on characters from media that isn't that good or that they don't care much about if they think they're attractive.
"Let’s see who’s stronger: someone that has something to protect, or someone that has nothing to lose."Watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit in an animation Discord group last night. What was interesting is it was an original theatrical 35mm film print. While watching it, we were able to see that two common urban legends were indisputably false.
1. That there was a phone number on the wall in the bathroom that Eddie hides in during the Toontown sequence, next to the "For a good time, call Allyson Wonderland" writing. There was no phone number present.
2. Jessica being shown Going Commando as she's flung from Benny the Cab. In the theatrical print we saw, she's clearly wearing white underwear. It's easy to see though why the poorer VHS quality made it look like she had no underwear on (and not helped at all by one of the animators claiming as such).
It does beg the question though why Disney felt the need to redraw Jessica's dress in later versions of the scene, if all she's showing is underwear in a few frames. Even if you argue Disney felt a woman's undergarments were inappropriate to show in one of their films, they've never had issues with Tinkerbell in Peter Pan.

With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationWhat furries? As an actual furry here I haven't seen any interest in Raya from scalies. Man I really should have Popular with Furries checked since it has Turning Red in it when I've not encountered any furry raving about it.
The movie doesn't need to be good for a character design to be popular/appealing to a certain demographic. For example, I think the Pirates sequels are not very good, but Davy Jones and his crew have really kickass designs.

I suspect its because they could afford to
New theme music also a boxx3: Please be mindful of Opinion Myopia. If you (or your friends) not actively (sharing) in that sub-section of the community, or actively looking for it, you will assume it doesn't exist.
I've seen people create Red Pandasonas on my end, explicitly based on Turning Red's designs (the fur markings give it away). Furthermore, since the film established that the older women of Mei's family have this transformation, this has led to fan-art based on that fact.
I don't see it often (again, because I'm not actively looking for it) but there's some fan-art based on Sisu. Sometimes it might be in the form of fan redesigns, trying to combine her concept and final designs. It sounds like leafsaber47 happened to stumble upon it on their side.

I recently read Andersen's original The Little Mermaid. Fully knowing how different it is from the Disney movie, I was surprised to find some oddly specific similarities. One would have thought that the Sea Witch having pet eels is a result of Disney's tendency to give a Non-Human Sidekick or two to every other character - but no, Andersen mentions that the Sea Witch has several pet eels (as well as a pet toad) that she caresses and calls endearing nicknames.
I like imagine When disney is adapting a work they have a check list of things they can include from the work itself and 'pet animals' is probably on the list
New theme music also a boxYeah, it's kind of how Esmeralda's pet goat Djali feels like an obvious Disney addition but actually also comes from the source material.
I wonder if there are other convenient animal sidekicks in other fairy tales for them to adapt.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.x5: You're right.
Star vs. the Forces of Evil is, unfortunately, the type of thing that just wants to make me scream. When I'm begging to watch the super similar Steven Universe instead, you know something is wrong.
"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."What is wrong with Steven Universe? Even as a former fan then former hater I dont see what's so horrible about recommending Steven Universe.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Steven Universe and SvtFOE are often hated upon for similar reasons of which I don't know other than how... off... their endings felt (one more than the other, to be frank).
Holy fucking shit, don't get me started on SvtFOE's rabid fanbase. In my opinion, they're the absolute worst of western animation communities. Yes, more than Rick and Morty. Even more than The Loud House. Yeah, it's that awful for me. The Loud House loses its toxic cartoon fanbase trophy to the Mewman menaces.

"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."And because both have toxic as hell fanbases.
...why the hell are scalies all over Sisu from Raya and the Last Dragon as of late? As an avid Schaffrillas Productions fan, his dislike of the movie made me hesitant to even check the movie out.
