[up]I feel like it'd end up either being a Kingdom Hearts game, or else a "why isn't this a Kingdom Hearts game?" game, but I could imagine it.

[up][up][up] Agreed. This thread is supposed to be about Disney, not American politics. Talking about Disney's conflict with DeSatan or their mistreating their employees should be fine to discuss here, but politics in general should go over to OTC.

EDIT: [nja]

[up][up] Semi-relevant, since Disney owns Marvel: I'm honestly kind of amazed that when Nintendo and K-T collaborated on a Marvel game, they opted to make Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order instead of a Marvel Musou/Warriors.

As for a Disney Musou itself, while I'm sure it'd be interesting, I'm not sure the House of Mouse would necessarily agree to it. Keep in mind that they were the ones who turned down the idea of a Kingdom Hearts fighting game because they didn't want their animated characters to fight each other, which prompted Square-Enix to rework the idea into the original Dissidia. But then again, perhaps times have changed since then and they might be more amenable to the idea, now that they've had stuff like Disney Mirrorverse and Epic Mickey under their belts?

I have said this before and I will say this again, Kingdom Hearts is one of the few properties where Mickey Mouse is allowed to have a character and be a badass. He isnt even like a mentor to the protagonist, his arc has him bonding with Riku more than he ever does Sora.

I think Disney is one of the few companies with a character library iconic and expansive enough for a Smash Bros clone that could truly challenge Nintendo's claim to the throne, given they find a good developer to pull that off.

According to The Information, Disney+ users will soon get the option to stream various content in the form of channels, like cable TV.

[up] This seems equivalent to what some current free ad-supported television services (like Pluto TV) do. They create specialized or genre channels of their current catalog and organize them as linear channels with television guides and time slots. PlutoTV also allows some of these programs to be watched on-demand, so there's less of a FOMO effect if you miss a certain airing.

[up] Going by that, if I had to guess, we're probably gonna get channels based on each subsection of Disney. One entirely based off animated films, another based on Disney Channel, one that only consist of Marvel movies etc.

I'll bet good money that people would flock in droves if one of those channels was themed after Disney's One Saturday Morning. (And also The Disney Afternoon, but I grew up with OSM.)

Incidentally, if OSM was still with us (no ABC Kids rebranding or anything), you guys think we would've seen recent TVA shows (Penn Zero, Gravity Falls, DuckTales, Wander, Star vs., Owl House, BCG, Amphibia, Molly McGee, Kiff, etc.) in it?

[up][up][up][up][up] How many of them take place in school? Because that was the criteria to get a show onto One Saturday Morning. It had to be educational, and shows that took place in school technically counted under the FCC E/I rule.

[up] …Ohhhh shoot, I did not factor that. Because I didn't even know that was a criteria that needed to be met.

I think out of those shows I listed, there are like 4 note  that have schools in them. Actually, it's 5 because I forgot about Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja. (Can Amphibia count if Anne is a high school uniform like 90% of the time?)

…Aw man, so much for wedging in action stuff like Avengers: EMH somewhere. sad

Is that FCC E/I mandate stuff still around anyway? Pretty sure Saturday Morning Cartoons are limited to just MeTV airing ye olde toons at this point.

"Sees the yen coin reference" Does this newfound love include anime? If it does I suggest you try out Pretty Cure.

BTW, I would love it if Disney did with Precure what they did with Macross and mass release the ENTIRE franchise there.

[up][up][up][up] I think it still is, but since what's left of Saturday morning is basically on because it has to be there, you'd never really know.

[up][up][up] There was very little that was actually educational on One Saturday Morning. Maybe the Schoolhouse Rock shorts they aired, and that was it. They, unfortunately, didn't have the luxury of having a weekday schedule like Fox Kids and Kids WB (who had reruns of Magic School Bus and Histeria! to fill out their E/I requirement, respectively).

[up][up] I wasnt condemning you, I meant more that more people need to be into Precure and Precure could be the perfect anime for Disney to acquire, kidfriendly, fun, badass and cute.

[up][up]

There was very little that was actually educational on One Saturday Morning.

Glad you said that, because I had a "hey, wait a minute" moment when I looked up The Disney Afternoon and found it was from 1990 until 1999 and a lot of it didn't have the "needs to have a school" thing, to the best of my recollection.

Was TDA subjected to E/I stuff like OSM or no, because TDA was a made-for-syndication block?

Geez, I'm so confused. I had this random brainstorm of bringing back OSM with modern Disney-associated shows (associated because I would've put in Bluey) to local TV for the crowd who didn't have Disney+, but now I feel like I stumbled into an iceberg of executive mumbo-jumbo.

(Also, Fox Kids had The Magic School Bus? Literally never knew that either.)

The Disney Afternoon ended in 1997, before the rule was even made, and since it was syndicated it wasn't subject to the networks anyway.

[up][up] Oh, so that's how TDA had something as hardcore as Gargoyles in there. Because no way would they have had it in OSM...

...Geez, who would've thought bringing back Saturday morning cartoons would be such a pain? But then, given how we live in an age where you can watch cartoons just by looking them up online, I may as well have better luck reviving the dinosaurs. And there's already a franchise that stresses why that's not such a great idea.

Actually, speaking of Gargoyles, with X-Men '97 doing crazy good on D+, I wonder if there's enough momentum from that show to give Gargoyles a similar revival (bring back as many of the OG cast as possible, but do edgier stuff they would not have been able to do in the OG series).

[up] Yeah, I miss it too. That's kinda why I was brainstorming how they could bring it back somehow. Especially after I mentioned it when someone wanted them to have Jetix as one of D+'s channels.

Man, I've been hoping Ducktales 2017 would be the launching point for a bunch of Disney Afternoon comebacks. Gargoyles, Darkwing, etc...

What's the latest word on the Darkwing reboot, anyway? Last I heard Seth Rogan was no longer involved (tbh, not too bothered by that one) and then... nothing.
