Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules (in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

If you're referring to the word "crashed" combined with "launch pad", it's probably unintentional. The thread used to be called YKTTW Crash Rescue (and was still called that for a while after that section was renamed) before the title was updated to say TLP instead of YKTTW.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Unfortunately no, it's total coincidence. The delay wasn't wanted.
Well, they were still always called "launches"

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessFigured, but it's funny enough to me. Now I wonder what Trope-tan's classpect would be?
This wiki just likes their rocket motifs I guess. But was "launch" ever used as a term before TLP became the term?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. As an aside, I really miss the old look of the TLP. So nostalgic for me, and I honestly think it looked better back then.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOh, wow it actually did have improvement tags back then. Somehow forgot but yeah it does look better than what we have now.
Macron's notesNew adventures with TV Tropes and the ad server:
Someone on the Writer's Block forum asks in a very generically named thread if the name Gaston is too strongly associated with the Disney character to use. I look up the wiki pages for the animated and live-action Beauty and the Beast movies, the character sheet for the animated movie, and while I'm at it, the phenomenon of a name being strongly associated with one character (that, besides Disney's Gaston, also lists a certain character from Franco-Belgian Comics, though I don't notice that at the time). I then comment on the thread.
Neither of the pages I visit during all of this have the word "Gaston" in their title. I haven't typed it into the search bar either.
Next thing I know, I get advertisements for the Gaston Lagaffe comic books, specifically the German translations published by Carlsen. Not just once, the ad server seems to have decided that I am totally the target audience and should see these ads for days on end.
Coincidence?
TV Tropes itself doesn't do that kind of data collection (or so I'm told), but the selection of ads displayed is done by *spooky music starts playing* Google. Yes, obviously, Google knows a lot - like, a lot - about people's internet browsing habits. But that one seems kind of specific for an ad server that usually can't even decide what country I'm in.
"He betrayed the Staaarks" is not the only problem here.I always feel like targeted advertisements are at once creepy and laughably mistargeted. Like offering you more of a product you have just bought and won't need again for a month. However I'm probably not their target market, I like to browse around to find the best prices and I am frugal with all spending (partly because I don't have a stable income yet).
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I just block all ads everywhere when physically possible. If I can't, I'd rather not visit a site period. 99% of the time ads are either something I can't buy anyway, irrelevant to me, or literal scams or malware, and I can't support them getting even a cent.
I'm not sure how to tie this back to TV Tropes, I suppose I wouldn't be blocking them if they weren't so much in the face. And Premium would be worth considering if it did something I can't do myself anyway.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI can think of two websites that I would like to visit more often for what they say but they have so many video ads that my browser creaks when I go there.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I want to take a second to laugh at the silly lore we created in the April Trope Report. Trope-Tan is plugging A Trope Kilowicked Love, a self-insert fic in which she is the love interest. But it deepens; I introduced myself as Trope-Tan in the bio which means that Trope-Tan is me. And as we all know, I got banned for offensive material.
Make of this what you will.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Purenessomg that's hilarious
Again, I want to bring up Lucky Translation, many used to think the Yu Jyo card was lucky it still worked in English but it turned out it was not an accident, Kazuki Takahashi himself picked Jonouchi's dub name. And according to 4kids podcast he didnt mind the editing, but emphasized that the theme of Friendship should be present in the dub.

I'd like to apologize for all this.I found one of the saddest TV Tropes pics ever, Lonely Funeral, I am astounded we dont have a trope section for single paintings,we have one for the famous Baby Shoes, never worn short story.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.If I'm being honest, I was expecting Up.
Ever wanted to see the most inexplicably horrifying intro to a game ever?We do! The Art/ namespace is underutilised due to the contentiousness of "non-narrative" media, but it exists (and tell me that that painting doesn't tell a story), and has subindices for Paintings and Sculptures.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI have a similar feeling about the image for Readings Are Off the Scale. I expected something from Dragonball or another shounen battle manga, or something comedic. Instead it's from a gritty, realistic war film and the scene in context is terrifying.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.coulda sworn we had a page for Nighthawks (the painting)
late to the party from last page, but the PBS Kids show discourse gave me flashbacks: does anyone remember multiple editors pimping the shit out of Survival of the Fittest everywhere
hail, holy queen of the sea, you're whirling-in-rags, you're vast and you're sad> late to the party from last page, but the PBS Kids show discourse gave me flashbacks: does anyone remember multiple editors pimping the shit out of Survival of the Fittest everywhere
Until just now I'd never heard of it

Yeesh. Five-Man Band was a mistake lol
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessReminds me of an example someone posted here from a roleplay where someone else shoved over 20 characters into a Five-Man Band.
Wow, that's a mess. There's example trees and then there's example kudzu.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Does anyone else get taken aback whenever they look through old forum / social media posts directly referencing trope names the site no longer uses? I wonder how these people think of the site today...
Can I ask a random question?
What was the longest time a draft spent in the Trope Launch Pad before getting properly launched?
Oo oo ah ah
I wonder if there was any significance to it coming out on Homestuck Day.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
