Pan takes a look at Love, Death & Robots and arranges the episodes from worst to best:

  • The Secret War: Just not very interesting. Looked like some trailer for a Call of Duty zombies mode. Would've liked it more if it came a few years earlier.
  • Ice Age: Out of place for being actual live-action and not mo-capped. Has a nugget of a good idea, but The Simpsons did more with the idea beforehand. Interesting, but not funny.
  • Lucky 13: Intriguing idea, but the short fixates too much on the shoot-outs.
  • The Dump: Wholesome and funny, but not one of Pan's favorites.
  • Sonnie's Edge: Tries too hard to be violent and sexual. Feels too out of place to have hardcore violence with a serious story.
  • Alternate Histories: A funny what-if scenario. Namely what if Hitler died before he became a complete monster? Should be a recurring segment.
  • When the Yogurt Took Over: Does a lot with what sounds like a one-note gag. Felt wittier and wasn't just zany.
  • Helping Hand: Like Gravity, but way more gruesome. Like, he had to look away. Perfect as a grim short story.
  • Blind Spot: Feels like an 80's toy cartoon with more cussing for the sake of it and a legit budget. Loves the cel-shaded style, reminds him of Mega Man Legends. Cool short, but then it drops an existential concept that Pan wants to see more of.
  • Sucker of Souls: Pan's glad to see French 2D animation in LDR. Gruesome, but more creative with its violence. Reminds him of Resident Evil.
  • Fish Night: Didn't get much out of it, but then he read someone's analysis that made him look at it in a different light.
  • The Witness: Stylistically scummy and trashy. Written and directed by the art director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
  • Shape-Shifters: Not as good looking as the other photorealistic ones, but it's got the better story.
  • Suits: Kinda clichéd, but of all the shoot-out-fests in this series, Pan had the most fun with this one.
  • Beyond the Aquila Rift: Pan actually wondered whether it was live-action or mo-cap. This one got crazy really fast.
  • Three Robots: This was funny and could work as a full-fledged series.
  • Good Hunting: Does a great job developing a world from feudal China to steampunk in only 16 minutes. Deals with a lot of mature subject matter, but still kind of feels like a sweet fairy tale.
  • Zima Blue: Pan calls it perfection. Loves how it features one of his favorite artists Robert Valley (references include TRON: Uprising and Motorcity) While Pan thought all the others felt like pilots to potential shows or movies, an anthology like LDR is perfect for a one-shot tale like Zima Blue. Subtle humor and follows a fascinating character and is also way less explicit than the others, proving you can tell a mature story without resorting to vulgarity. Hopes to see a hypothetical season 2 learns from this one.

It's weird watching some of his older videos where he had less of his trademark humor (though it was still there) and he didnt really know what the subject matter of his channel was going to be (he had reviews of video games, and not just ones based off of cartoons, he reviewed the Malibu Street Fighter comic, he reviewed one of those Godfrey Ho Ninja films).

Hey, anyone remember this:

On the bright side, this story has a happy-ish ending.

tl;dr: Waffsicle apologizes to everyone in Twitlonger, tags Craig and Rebel Taxi, then posts an image of their Writer's Guild registration torn to shreds.

That ripped registration tweet isn't there anymore. Hope someone archived it...

I think it's about time we revived this thread, and here's the perfect subject:

If SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom proves anything, there's No Problem with Licensed Games. If Battle for Bikini Bottom Re-hydrated proves anything, several of them are worthy of a Video Game Remake!

So...

Remember last year, when Pan talked about how he got to do character designs for a big project that he figured he'd get into trouble with online?

Said project got leaked. It was a denser and wackier Mortal Kombat cartoon called Mortal Kombat Ultra Girls. Long story short, it was concocted by executives who figured something as bloody and grim as MK could use other avenues of content. Like kids who watch Teen Titans Go! or something.

That said, the execs who came up with jogged on while new execs are sitting on it, probably not sure what to do with it.

In the meantime, Pan's locked up his Twitter account to avoid the onslaught of rage tweets or something, so wish him well, guys!

Wanna know what happens when you approve a show for 20 episodes without even seeing the pilot? You get Minoriteam, a group of caricarures and racicial minoeities who combat racism. If I didnt know better, I would have confused it for a Marvel Comic done by Nick Spencer.

It's pretty sad that all the controversy going on over at Warner Bros. Discovery had to coincide with Cartoon Network's 30th anniversary, but let's harp on about that too much. Instead, let's focus on Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway take a look back on the history of Cartoon Cartoon Fridays!

[up] Late, but good video. [tup] The Beavis and Butt-Head clips were funny, and I thought it was an well-done, interesting breakdown overall of the controversy — especially coming from me, someone who doesn't follow animation as much as I used to.

I will refrain from commenting on Primos itself as I am not Hispanic and cannot speak for the Hispanic community.

I never seen the MAD cartoons. The fact that it sold itself as a Robot Chicken for kids sounds like a weird concept to me.

Especially because 'Robot Chicken for kids' is... basically Robot Chicken. Kids watched Adult Swim whether they were technically supposed to or not.

[up] Hell, even when I was a teenager, I thought Adult Swim was incredibly juvenile in its shows and advertising. I remember once saying to my mom that its more like a kid's idea of what adults watch.

Oh I remember these. Some were good, some were whiffs, but even the much smaller inbetween skits could be really good. The Spy vs Spy ones were always really good though.

[up]They were usually the best ones. The Twilight parody was also the best of the “cut-up heads” shorts. Most of those were just really lazy or relied on one-note jokes.

MADtv also had Spy vs. Spy shorts and they were way better than the ones in Cartoon Network's MAD. The winning spy's little chipmunk giggle is permanently seared into my brain.

Honestly, Pan's video just made me nostalgic for the magazine.
