I noticed lack of one general thread regarding Warhammer Fantasy, so I decided to create a one. :)
Not only Warhammer Fantasy Battle discussions welcomed, but also all things related to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (regardless of edition).
If anyone has questions regarding Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's second edition, feel free to ask since I own most of its sourcebooks.
Warhammer 40,000 has its own thread here

Old World news. Orcs & Goblins go on pre-order next Saturday.
That's a lot more antique stuff and Forge World material than I expected. I did not think that troll hags, bonegrinder giants, and ogres would be in the orc army line to start with, but there they are.
Hope Cast Into Ruin.
The Skaven are definitely involved somehow...but with what?
Yeah, that confirms Skaven and the scenery in the video seems to be Aqshy so I am going with them sacking Hammerhal.

Yeah, there are a lot of good things I am not going to be afford for my army
Double post for today's Warhammer Community:
- Blood Bowl: New model for the classic Wood Elf Star Player Jordell Freshbreeze◊. They nerfed his hair a little compared to his older model but its still a great model with a great sense of movement.
- Old World Almanac: Talking about what is in the Orc & Goblin Tribes Arcane Journal.
I'm glad that I bought and inherited enough Orcs & Goblins sets to still have some left after all these years, so I'm good when it comes to Greenskins. There are a few pieces that I am tempted to buy, but I can customize my own expies fairly well. There are a few models that I would very much want to get my hands on from OW, such as the Necrosphinx. But I intend to be very selective about what to get from the line, as usual with anything by GW. Preferably box sets with the most bang for my buck, or then simply very special releases, that I can't replicate by kitbashing.
Double-post: This time the Old World Almanack takes a look at some changes done to the Orcs & Goblins rules. Animosity has been replaced with Impetuous, which still has them eager for the fighting to start, but without getting stuck into a melee with their nearest buddies.
I mean, Animosity was cool and thematic but I'll always remember one game I had with the 6th ed starter box where my archers sat around calling each other names for five turns running. In a game with three units and one character a side it Did Not Help.
To me the concept of Animosity sounds like it could work better in an RPG, if your party is getting attacked by something easily distracted and overly quarrelsome like Orc Boyz. It might be less frustrating overall if it is just the GM who has to contend with his NPCs doing it.

Quick post for the AdaptiCon reveals:
- Warcry Sylvaneth vs. Ossiarch Bonereapers. Both warbands have some beautiful models.
- Warhammer Underworlds Disciples of Sigmar vs. Ghouls. The Sigmarites look odd but cool, while the Ghouls are very nice.
- The Spear of the Everchosen for AoS. Awesome model.
- 4th Edition AoS.
- Old World Dwarfs. Love the new Lord.
The Sigmarites look like great Inquisition raw materials.
Now I've had a bit more time to look at thing I see that I missed Younger Ungrim Ironfist◊ and while he is a cool model, I miss his cloak.
Also, it seems that it isn't just a Skaven invasion that will kick start the new edition but Blight City itself manifesting in the middle of on of the Aqshy Cities of Sigmar.
All of the hints were a 4th Edition trailer. "Sigmar Lied" refers to him never telling the Stormcast that with every death they'd lose more of themselves. But Skaven do appear, and boy howdy.
I'd been wondering if the dwarfs were long-lived enough that there'd be returning characters.
Between Ungrim, the old Slayer models, the Doomseekers and the Goblin-Hewer, I think it's pretty safe to say that one of the Armies of Infamy is going to be a Slayer-themed one.
Both the Brets-and-Tomb Kings and the Orcs-and-Dwarfs releases have been rivalry pairs... I wonder if there's a Wood Elves-and-Beastmen pairing coming up.
Sylvaneth vs. Ossiarch Bonereapers: For me most of the Sylvaneth are messy in design, with too many cluttered details, which has been an issue for me already before. That said, I see a lot of elements that I like, that I could use with my own projects. I especially like those Dryads. These Bonereapers I'd convert into Tyranids, because they have lots of shapes and elements that would fit that army.
Disciples of Sigmar vs. Ghouls: The Sigmarites look like they could be an Inquisitorial retinue, or be from Necromunda. I'm guessing a lot of people will paint them in a Blanchitsu style soon. The ghouls remind me of the dregs for Vampire Counts in Mordheim. I really want that Vargheist, because it looks perfect for a gargoyle from Warcraft.
The Spear of the Everchosen: Abraxia is a really awesome Chaos Lord. I much prefer her model to Archaon in AOS, for the same above-mentioned reason of cluttered design. The only thing I would change are the horns on her mount, because I like my dragons with horns that curve upwards. I'd try to sculpt the Thanatorg new horns, similar to Abraxia's.
Ah, the OW Dwarfs! I've always liked the general look of Dwarfs in Warhammer, but sadly I never really got around to getting any of my own. Now I do have a set of Dwarfs for Blood Bowl, along with some very ancient and tiny 80's Dwarfs that I've inherited. I also have some original plastic Squats, which are small enough to be perfect to convert the bodies into Ratlings.
As for the AOS 4th edition, my only thought was this: Will there be rat cavalry?
Double-post: A short rundown of what to expect in the upcoming new edition, as well as two commemorative miniatures. That Killaboss is another example of how well the Kruleboyz would work as alternate orcs for LotR.
Not a fan of the Killboss personally. He looks more like a tall vampire goblin than an orc. I do like the Knight-Arcanum though.
True, he does kinda resemble a vampire, so his head could be used for an old-school Strigoi.
Double-post: An article on modular rules in the upcoming edition, with core rules and advanced rules being separate yet complimenting each other.
Apart from rules, in the same article there is a picture of a Maw-grunta, which gave me inspiration for what could be done with that kit. The fierceness of the face gives me an idea for a pig-like demon, either something like a Nalfeshnee or the Swine Prince, which could be made by kitbashing the Maw-grunta with a Great Unclean One. Since I prefer the more classic boars, I'm thinking of using the body for a rhinox or some other prehistoric-style beast. It's a bonus that the kit also comes with a few extra Ironjawz besides the rider.
Triple-post: The new edition brings new models for Liberators. I kinda like how the mask's nose looks like a nose-guard on an early Medieval spangenhelm. This model will in the future probably be painted by many in a Grimdark style, because this one looks closer to the Gothic style brought back by the Cities of Sigmar.
Besides the Stormcast, there is also a closer look at the Blood Bowl Gnome team. As cartoony as these models are, I absolutely love them and I can see so much conversion potential in them. There are currently four or five boxes for BB that I'm eyeing, because they have so much character in the sculpt and need only tiny tweaking for more serious games. The Gnomes, for instance, can be used as Gnomish druids or steampunk tinkers, while just the animals are well worth getting the box.
While I like the body of the new Liberators, I am not too much of a fan of the helmet as it looks a little too industrial for my liking. I do love the Gnomes as well, particularly the animals.
"Industrial" is a pretty good description, because the new mask makes the Liberator look mechanical. It looks like it could be a golem of some sort, or a Warforged in Eberron.
It's an improvement, but I still think the sculpted faces - outside of a few character models - are the weakest aesthetic decision of the Stormcast line and covering up the nose isn't actually solving that problem.
From the neck down, I have nothing against the Stormcast's design. They're a heroic-looking counterpart to the Chaos Warriors, which works just fine. But I agree that the face-masks don't really work with the aesthetic. They have blank expressions and empty soulless eye-sockets, which fits better with villainous characters. The bearded masks are a bit better and I like the ones where the mask is framed by some other details, like on the Vanguard units. Overall, I'd go with either helmets based on historical designs, and closer to the Cities of Sigmar, or a much more stylized version of the Space Marines' angry helmets.

Double-post: More on the BB Gnomes, this time more talk about the sculpts and the animals in particular. There is also an article on which models will be leaving AOS, some getting skipped entirely, while others go to the OW range.
2016: GW decides to retire multiple parts of the Fantasy range, moving some parts to the newly-released Age of Sigmar while dropping others entirely, in order to strengthen the new product's identity. Fantasy fans are very angry about losing access to what were seen as important parts of the game and setting, and mostly blame AoS and its developing playerbase.
2024: GW decides to retire multiple parts of the Age of Sigmar range, moving some parts to the newly-released The Old World while dropping others entirely, in order to strengthen the new product's identity. Age of Sigmar fans are very angry about losing access to what are seen as important parts of the game and setting; it is currently to be seen where blame will be assigned.
There is a certain symmetry to it all, is there not?
God-King Sigmar I would argue is more like Roboute Guilliman than the Emperor tbh. There's even a similar irony in Roboute being forced into a position of great authority and power despite once doing everything he could to limit the power of people like him.

Disgusted, but not surprised
