After checking the forums, and not finding this thread, I decided to create it.

I've seen a handful of pretty good ones. (i'll have to dredge them from my memory though)

A New Hope?

Lemme think...

  • Luke: Guy Shishioh
  • Leia: Renee Shishioh (Guy and Renee are cousins instead of twins, but the incest-squick would still apply, and Renee got some canon Ship Tease with....)
  • Han Solo: Soldat-J
  • Chewie: hrm... I guess a humanoid Galeon.
  • Sidious: Palparepa, naturally.

I'm completely clueless on Vader, though... granted, I could use Pela Cain, but he's Mamoru's dad, not Guy's. <Beat> Actually, Cain developed the G-Stone technology that enabled Guy's survival as a cyborg, so I might be able to do something with that anyhow.

Obi-Wan will be Guy's actual dad, Leo Shishioh.

I will work on the fic itself later on.

I'm really angry at the SW recs page because nearly everything on it seems to be bad, or worse, trapped in that zone of "this isn't good, but it's only kinda bad, but it's not enough for me to even care, but it's not got enough going for it to care about it that way either, and why did I click the button to look at this" of no-emotional-response mediocrity.

I had an idea for an elsewhere fic set during the New Sith Wars, starting around 1475 BBY, about an attempt by the Republic to reconquer lost territory which ends in abject failure and tragedy with the Battle of Mizra, where half a million Republic soldiers are killed and the Republic enters its nadir.

Basically, the Republic would be a loose collection of feudal kingdoms run by Jedi and the Senate itself would be under the control of the Jedi Grand Master, who is the most corrupt individual to ever rise to the post, engaging in bribery and extortion, taking multiple mistresses, and generally being an unpleasant fellow whose only saving grace is that his enemies are much worse. Under him, the Republic and its allies become a theocracy. The story would follow his illegitimate son, a Jedi Knight who takes the various mercenary groups and militias left, and forges an army to take the fight to the Sith.

I'm surprised that this thread isn't larger, given the massive Fanon Discontinuity the Star Wars films and Expanded Universe have.

Hi. I'm looking for 2 things: 1st, the name and location of a Star Wars fic that I once read, where Padme shows up alive during the Empire Strikes Back, causing Vader to rebel against Palpatine. I remember only 1 or things about it- Vader started getting new medical treatments, and Han Solo recommended siding with the Emperor over Vader, since Vader and Padme might kill you for unpredictable reasons, while Palpatine was a known quality.

2nd:I'm looking for any and all fics that start with the premise that Anakin didn't successfully land that ship in Revenge of the Sith, and instead got himself, palpatine and obiwan killed.

Wait how has no one here read Star Wars Top Gear?

This is amazing and fans of the X-Wing books will be in stitches.

Short Version, this is what happens when Hobbie, Tycho, and Wes Janson are drafted into doing Top Gear. Highlights include Wes Janson being abducted by Space Hipsters, all three having to get a Starfighter for under 10,000 Credits, then attack an Imperial Star Destroyer with them.

I've read a few fics, and I happen to be a writer myself.

I've only written one story so far, and it's still in progress, but that's because it's a large scale fic with quite a lot of original lore to it.

It's called Star Wars: Paranormalities. It takes place in the after New Jedi Order in the Legends continuity is almost-entirely OC-driven. My general goal for it is that while it has a lot of dark elements in line with that era, it's overall lighter than the stories it is set between.

I'll admit, the first few chapters few feel a bit too script-like (I'll admit, I was still getting the hang of story presentation at the time), especially compared to later chapters.

I've published this fic in three places so far. If I can make a recommendation, I'd recommend the TFN forum's version, as not only are less typing errors (my most common being either I forget to type a word because I was typing too fast for my computer to handle, I repeat a word or I leave something over from the wording phase), it helps eliminate some of the Early-Installment Weirdness with the earliest chapters (the story overall hasn't been changed though).

I remember my first introduction to fanfic being a humorous Han/Leia story. Wish I remembered the name, it was pretty good. One memorable moment was when C-3PO hearing Han and Leia, um, doing it, and he's like, "Why are they so loud?" [lol]

I also remember the first fanfic I published being Star Wars. It was going to be cool, with Han and Chewie on a typical mission, but it fell through after the first chapter. tongue

A Clone Stands:

So many of his brothers forgot what they did when Order 66 came down. He wasn't so fortunate. He remembered everything he did that day at General Skywalker's side. All those children he killed. His own little contribution to his children and his children's children falling under an evil he couldn't well imagine.

For the first time since he left Kamino didn't know why he was fighting or why he stayed when the chip lost control. Maybe it was because he was deluded enough to think he could bring back the Republic. Maybe it was because he knew their was no where for a clone to hide. Maybe it was because after all these years the patrols had just become routine.

That changed one day on patrol. He saw a blue glow he hadn't seen in years and in an instant he knew what he was fighting for. He said only one word to the young Jedi, "Run." They blamed the escape on his age, after all the clones had proven they would attack Jedi they'd been with for years, how would one stand for one they'd never met? They took his blaster, they took his armor, and they told him he wouldn't need either at his new post.

It could have been a favor from what little of General Skywalker that remained, it could have been mistake on the transfer papers, but rather than slaving away in a mine like so many of his brothers, he found himself behind a desk in a logistics office. He kept his head down, and faded in to the background, but he now knew how he would fight.

It didn't take long for him to find the Rebellion, and fight for them with the one weapon he still had. It started with small things: patrol routes, small ares shipments, ships scheduled for decommission, but as the Rebellion grew so did the information new fighter shipments, hidden productions facilities, and sometimes even full battle plans. The hammer came down on his office several times, but it always missed him, after who could doubt the loyalty of a clone?

Whether it was chance, or the force itself, he knew what he had to do the moment the plans came across his desk. There was no way to get the plans for the station out before he would be caught, so he needed to bring the Rebellion to him.

A couple fake credentials, another one of the random inspections the office had become accustomed to, and they would be inside. The “inspectors” requested him by number because they needed someone who’s loyalty couldn’t be questioned. When they entered, no one even thought to pat him down.

Halfway through they download they faced their first Stormtrooper. He didn’t even say a word before he hit the ground.

By the time they reached the extraction point, the entire planet was on red alert. When the blaster entered his hand it felt like it had never left. He was an old man, but the Stormtroopers were inexperienced and barely trained, while he fought Geonosis, Kamino, Teth, and countless other worlds. He would hold them back long enough for the rest to escape, for the word of this "Death Star" to get out.

He was tired, he was overwhelmed, and he had a thermal detonator in hand. He didn't know if anyone would hear him, and he didn't care. With the last of his breath Rex cried out, "For the Republic".

I've got two that I'm working on (well, working on one, the other's still sort of in planning stages as I work out the universe). The first is a sort of documentary thing about the Mandalorians invading the galaxy post Legacy comic while the GFT is still consolidating its power.

The other is set tens of thousands of years after a massive apocalypse sweeps across the galaxy, knocking down technology back to stuff like Great Hyperspace War levels, where blasters, starships, starfighters and lightsabers are side by side with regular swords, shields, spears, and other medieval-like weapons. The story itself focuses on an empire that rose out of the ashes of the apocalypse and spread across the galaxy from the Mid Rim (its capital is Naboo) to the Outer Rim being invaded by the Killiks. The society of the empire is feudal in nature (the Jedi still exist in the form of the empire's Order of Knights, operating mainly under the same principles but also sort of like the New Jedi Order. Though they're still taken at a young age (around Anakin's age when he was taken to be a Jedi) they're allowed to remain in contact with their families, marry, have kids, and whatnot.

Can I plug Tails of the Old Republic here? I mentioned it in the Sonic thread, but this is a Crossover, after all! tongue

I'll just copypaste what I typed for the Star Wars rec page:

  • Fandoms: Knights of the Old Republic and Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Status: In-Progress
  • Synopsis: Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog mysteriously awakens aboard the Republic capital ship, Endar Spire. Stripped of his memory and his possessions, the adolescent Mobian must now come to terms with his new circumstances... and find his way home.
  • Comments: This fic is incredible. Basically, this is an attempt at novelizing the game with Tails inexplicably taking Revan's place. Tails starts out with his many skills and powers, and the author greatly expands on them, too: Tails is in full Badass Bookworm mode here! The author draws a link between The Force and the various “chaos powers” of Sonic ‘verse. It feels like Mobius really could exist somewhere in the GFFA, and it’s left ambiguous whether it is or not. Is Tails actually Revan? How? How did he get there? We don’t know yet. Tails is a studly little teenager now, and while he's more confident (and snarky) now than when he was 8, he's still has trouble socializing. This leads to some great humor! He's still the kind and caring genius fox Sonic fans know, but it definitely shows what an additional 6 years of Sonic's influence can do to a boy! READ IT. — Amanda
  • Warnings: Contains Ship Tease between Tails & Mission. [Edit: I should probably add Darker and Edgier & Bloodier and Gorier at some point soon, since they both count. It's handled well, though, IMHO.]

I've never read a Sonic & Star Wars crossover before. And I had no expectation of it being enjoyable! grin

It's also one of there very few Sonic-related fanfics that have their own page. I could use help wicking it (or whatever you call cross-referencing stuff) if anyone's interested! cool

For being the author's very first fanfic, I'm very impressed. The first few chapters are a bit rough, but It Gets Better very quickly. [tup]

Hm, now that I think about it the Killiks may not be the best choice for an antagonistic force, since there's literally billions of them fighting. Who could it be instead...

Anyone have any ideas?

Hm, maybe instead of every Killik I can just have a single hive, since that's likely to have millions upon millions of Killiks anyway.

I had an idea for a sequel trilogy era (when it starts) fanfic where Luke's Jedi uncover a Jedi Knight from the New Sith Wars era frozen in carbonite on a planet in the Deep Core. Basically, during the darkest days of the war against the Sith, the Jedi gathered five hundred Jedi Knights, froze them in carbonite, and hid them, with a droid brain wired to unfreeze them upon receiving a signal from Coruscant. Basically, with the Sith confident in their victory, these knights would suddenly show up and retaliate. However, shifts in the star charts and communication arrays meant that the planet never received the signal, and when the Republic sent out search parties, they were lost. Eventually, most died, except one, the youngest and the greenest. I think it would be a story of contrasts, showing how the Galaxy and the Republic has changed, and how much of a fish out of temporal water the Jedi Knight is.

As a twist, I thought it would be interesting to have the Jedi be a committed and unapologetic fascist, who hates the notion of democracy, and thinks that having an unelected ruling elite with absolute authority is the only way for the galaxy to achieve stability, even if he despises the Sith, knowing full well just how insane they are, and a complete militarist, coming from a time when the galaxy was on the war footing for thousands of years. He also thinks any notion of "restoring" the Republic is doomed to failure; the Republic came and went, and it's people willingly took the hatchet to it. Just as he can't bring back the people from his own life, even the ones lucky enough to die peacefully, the Rebellion will never succeed in setting the Galaxy right while it clings to Old Republic nostalgia. I think the Central Theme would be about how everyone is a product of their time, and that replicating the past is dumb.

The Jedi Knight of the past would be like everything Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker never were, the emotionless and heartless indoctrinator that Jedi haters accuse PT Jedi of being, like being absolutely disgusted by any kind of love, whether it is parental, fraternal, or romantic, and attempts to live each day by being utterly stoic, flagellating himself if he smiles, laughs, frowns, shouts, screams, cries, etc. A demonstration of how the immaculate purity that PT Jedi philosophy encourages will only create a moral sociopath Control Freak when writ large in any personality.

I'm working on a Temporal fish out of water fic myself, but with Revan and the Clone Wars. My most major difficulty is figuring which powers from Kot OR I can use, which I need to dumb down, and which are too ridiculously powerful to use. (Like Destroy Droid would be cheating. But if I dumb it down so that it destroys droids with a jolted wire or two, then maybe I could have Old Republic era Jedi have them?)

I want Revan to explore the differences between the PT and Kot OR era Jedi, with Revan being LSF and trying to keep the fact they're Revan on the down low while trying to figure out what's going on and how to get back home while helping the Jedi of that era. (And wrapping her head around the idea of pacifist Mandaloreans)

theLibrarian Since: Jul, 2009
#22: Aug 14th 2015 at 8:54:58 PM

You could also make it so that Revan rips apart the Sith plans by finding out the circumstances behind the war, tracking down "Who would be in the best position to abuse this to the detriment of the Jedi?" then suddenly walk into Palpatine's office, say "You were way too obvious", then kill him.

Windona Since: Jan, 2010
#23: Aug 14th 2015 at 9:40:21 PM

Well, Revan has to learn about the political situation first. And then subtly manipulate things to get rid of some of Palpatine's power. Revan is not going to make the same mistake as the Council did in Rot S.

(Also, Revan has T3 and HK-47 with her, since she was on the Ebon Hawke when transported. So there will be even more fun.)

theLibrarian Since: Jul, 2009
#24: Aug 15th 2015 at 8:42:59 PM

Him.

And to be honest do you really think Revan would not only underestimate a Sith Lord but be caught off guard when the Sith Lord comes at him with a lightsaber? We're talking about one of the greatest Jedi and Sith Lords in the franchise's history.

Also I'm thinking of, again, changing the villain of my own Star Wars fic. Not to Killiks or Sith, but the Yinchorri. Much more plausible and more balanced than trillions of swarming bugs attacking.

Revan is canonically female according to the people behind KOTOR, unless he's canonically male like in some cases in TOR. Basically, abandon sanity all ye who discuss this question.

I have to agree, though, if it came to throwing down in Palpatine's office and it's Revan on the other end rather than Mace Windu, it's not gonna end well for Palpatine. Possibly the only thing that could end worse for Palpatine would be if Exar Kun walked in instead, and that's because Kun wouldn't have killed him...right away.
