So, um, the WAAPT Mods have decided that we're gonna be closing signups... not permanently but for a long while. 2020's kicked the entire community's collective asses in terms of productivity and we don't feel like it's right to leave new people to flounder because no one's got the spoons for getting them acclimated to the RP proper.

If you're still interested in joining, the rest of the community is still open - there's an active discord server with plenty of non-RP channels for anyone waiting on their turn to hang out in. Just ask in this thread or DM me or ~rmctagg09 for a link.

We're tremendously sorry about this and hope to be back in shape to accept new people for the RP proper before too long.

Attention Prospective WAAPTers

Signups are still closed for now, but in the meantime:

• We've officially made a complete overhaul to Every's Essay, which will now be known as the Content Essay from this point on.
• The rules on PC deaths have been moved over to the Tone Essay, since as they deal with tone, it was deemed more appropriate over there.

Attention! We are officially finally reopening signups not now but Soon, and ahead of doing so we have made some important rule changes:

• No more Signup tests, once we feel a Signup application has no glaring issues and they have the passphrases, the player is free to get an invite to Spectra Castle in order to have their characters workshopped further and get better acquainted with the community.

• The FAQ and Background Lore Index are now required reading post-Signups. (Though if someone wants to add that they've read it pre-Signups they're perfectly okay to and they don't need to do it again)

• Before making their first post a person needs to:
  • 1) Have read at least 25 pages, either by going 25 pages back from the current page of arrival or waiting until 25 pages have been made, supplemented by last month's Current events page and what's currently on Current Events. Alternatively or in tandem with the former they can follow along with the thread for a week before posting. Once they've done so,

  • 2) They should be able to name the most recent thing they can remember, and once they've done that we can move on to

  • 3) An interaction akin to the old Signup tests involving an experienced player, but with actual canon relevance.

She was so happy she cried. She was gonna get passes for other regions, since she didn't want to only be able to do Contests in Sinnoh. She's not the...best at contests but she's trying, right?

Backstory: Hailee grew up in Lilycove City in the Hoenn region, where she was inspired to become a Pokemon Trainer watching League Battles on TV. On her 10th birthday, her parents decided she wasn't quite ready to become a trainer herself, but she was given a Pokemon of her own as a present - a Phanpy her parents had caught for her in the Safari Zone, as she named him Timothy, as the 2 instantly became friends. 3 years later, Hailee was sent to live with her aunt and uncle in Galar while her parents had to go on a business trip around Hoenn. One day, she, her aunt and uncle popped over to Wedgehurst to pay the Professor a visit one day. While there, Hailee's aunt let her receive a Pokemon from the Professor, which was a Grookey she named Banjo. While in Galar, she watched Gym Battles on TV which only fueled her desire to become a trainer someday. She decided, "Those trainers I see battle on TV... I wanna be just like them!". A few months later, her parents decided Hailee was finally ready to become a trainer, partially because they decided she was ready themselves, and partially she begged them to let her enough. So, they packed Hailee's stuff for her, as she got on a plane heading for Jubilife in the Sinnoh region...

Personality/Bio: Timothy gets quite easily distracted, preferring to look at the Butterfree fly by instead of focus on what's going on. Personality/Bio: Banjo, contrary to his species' typical rambunctious nature, doesn't tend to cause trouble at any given opportunity. However, he can get overconfident, always stepping in and trying to handle the situation, even if he is outclassed by the opponent by a large mile. However, he means well, and is a trusty partner in battle.

Appearance: A tall, thin individual with BIG eyebrows, wearing a green shirt under red suspenders, dusky blue trousers, purple socks, and dusky beige oxford shoes. He's also bald.
Organization Ties: None, just an ordinary trainer who wound up getting involved in this madness.
Region of Origin: Hoenn.
Backstory: He, as a child, lived in Fortree City, spending his free time with the wild Bug-types that showed up often. Except he was also oblivious to the WAAPT events that occurred because of not only this, but also because he doesn't really pay any attention to the news, believing it to only present made-up stuff. In his defence, some of the things that happened did sound a bit too absurd to be believed. He never changed after all this time, and is still a fun-loving guy. He became a Pokemon Trainer at the age of 16, mainly because his parents were reluctant to let him become one. They allowed him to be a Trainer only if he could get A-grades on his tests (That would be 7s on the new system), which he managed to achieve.

Personality: Mike's a 'Mon who's mega hammy, and also a narcissistic realist, too. And he's actually glad he wound up with Lux, someone who could put up with his behaviour for as long as need be. Except as Lux learnt the hard way, apparently Mike's got Monophobia, the fear of being alone/isolated, so Lux never being seen separated from Mike can be attributed to this.

Species: Weedle.
Nickname: Wendy.
Gender: Female.
Ability: Shield Dust (Prevents the additional effects of some moves, e.g. Blizzard's freezing effects.)
Personality: She's a quiet 'Mon, not really one for talking much. Wendy's also a surprisingly smart Weedle, and bonded with Lux through this. Except, even though Wendy knows to trust Ghost-types, she still has trouble dealing with them thanks to having Phasmophobia, the fear of ghosts/phantoms. It's for this reason that Lux spares her from battles against them.

The events that he saw in the city over the past decade caused him to delay his training and certification as a Trainer, out of the belief that he could not understand Pokemon well enough to properly care for them. This changed one day, when he ended up lost in the Castelia sewers, only escaping thanks to a wild Rattata guiding him to safety. After this, in order to pay back the debt he felt he owed his saviour, he finally obtained a Trainer's license and became the Trainer of the Rattata that saved him. Now, he's about to set off on a journey of discovery, of the world and of himself.

The presence of a human that got lost in the sewers was one such opportunity, which he used by guiding the human to the surface in exchange for treats. One thing led to another, however, and Gav ended up allowing himself to become the human's starter Pokemon. If anyone asked him why, he'd say he did it to get free food and shelter, but he'd admit to himself that this human might just become something he never really had before: a friend.

Backstory: Maxime was born into a rich family. While Max's childhood was happy, he felt suffocated by his overbearing parents and felt lonely due to his status. While his parents tried to encourage Maxime to become a professional battler like them, Maxime did not want to pursue a career in the field (he still enjoys battling, but as more of a hobby). Maxime's own interests were in more "physical" activities, like boxing, though his parents advised against him pursuing a career in this out of fear for his health. Against his parents' wishes, Maxime left home with Kliff in tow to figure out what he wants in life.

Edit: I removed the Auric-related stuff from Maxime, focusing more on his lonely rich kid persona that decides to strike out on his own rather than the muggle born of mages that I tried to go with. Despite him coming from a rich family, Maxime's own money is roughly equivalent to everyone else.

~BestVersionofHercules Hi! Sorry we're late. Your signup has some intresting ideas but we have a few concerns -

-It kind of misunderstands the role Aurics have in the universe - aside from what remains of the Aura Guardians they're less a secret cabal of mages and more weird magic mutants trying to get buy and in the past they faced heavy discrimination.

-Your character HIMSELF has little going on rn aside from the parents thing, he needs more to stand on his own.

Just tweak those things to satisfaction and you should be good.

Thanks for telling me this, should I just edit my character sign-in when I come up with somethin. Also quick question: just how rare are the human to pokemon armbands in-universe? Are they super secret stuff that needs to be kept secret, or can they be straight up bought at a store? I'm not planning on having my character start with one, but I am planning on having them be somewhat important to his character.
