People sometimes accidentally delete large swaths of pages because of connection errors, would it be possible to add a confirmation notice if a large deletion is made saying that you've deleted a large portion of the page?

Yes, please. This just happened to me today and I wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't familiar enough with the source material to wonder why so little was covered by the characters page.

If you're already in the code, you may consider forcing an edit reason for large deletions.

[up]That won't be enough to catch data vampires if an editor is giving an edit reason anyway.

Nah, what I'm thinking is that if it just counts amount deleted, we'll catch both people who got attacked by Data Vampires and people who don't know that you need to explain massive deletions in some way.

I suggest adding an exception to this, being if all of the text is being replaced by a redirect.

...and perhaps also a quick ping to the mods whenever a huge amount of text is successfully removed, to avoid abuse.

I don't think we need an exception for redirects.
