Shortest: A 1:09 novelty track at the start of Big & Rich's second album that mostly consists of "Somebody's got to be unafraid to lead the freak parade".
Longest: "Bat Out of Hell" by Meat Loaf, 9:52.
Longest is Echoes from Pink Floyd's Meddle, clocking in at 23:31
Shortest is Horn Intro from Modest Mouse's Good News For People Who Love Bad News, at only 0:09 seconds. It's two notes, and not even played by the actual band.

this place needs me hereThe shortest is 1:44 ("Harlem's Nocturne" by Alicia Keys"), though I used to have one that was 0:48 (basically Album Filler on Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill). The longest is 8:16 ("Marvin's Room/Buried Alive Interlude" by Drake). I used to have one that was 30 minutes, but it was a glitch. I used a You Tube audio ripping site to download a 5 minute song and it ended up looping the song 6 times.
I have 3 songs tied for shortest:
Queen 'Yeah' from Made in Heaven
Rilo Kiley 'And That's How I Choose to Remember It" from The Execution of All Things
and
They Might Be Giants 'Fingertips[Who's Knocking on The Wall]' from Apollo 18
All at 4 seconds. Other than that I have 4 songs at 5 seconds and 19 songs at 6 seconds.
For longest, I have some DJ mixes and annoying 'hidden tracks' that are longer, but the longest single song seems to be:
The Cure 'Carnage Visors: The Soundtrack' from Faith, at 27 minutes, 51 seconds.

Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise. The shortest song on my playlist is Oldscratch by the Distillers, at 43 seconds. The shortest that I don't usually skip is Wreckin' Bar by the Vaccines, at 1:21.
Longest song is In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, at 17:02. Longest that I don't usually skip is Drink Gone Dead by Your Headlights Are On, at 10:31.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.John Coltrane - Ascension Edition II - 40:57
Minutemen - Side D. Intro - 0:03
If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.Shortest: "Dangerous Short Music 3" (0:23) from the Final Fantasy III DS remake soundtrack. The shortest track that's not from a video game soundtrack is "Passive Manipulation" (0:35) by The White Stripes.
Those are the shortest tracks in my iTunes/iPod library. I delete the vast majority of songs that are under 30 seconds long (I was sick of the "Huh?!" jingle (0:05) from Chrono Trigger being the most-played track in my library because I could never skip past it before the program registered a full play) and most intro/outro/interlude songs because I tend to find them boring. I still have them in my full music library, I just don't listen to them casually.
Longest: "Faith & Decision" (16:28) by Versailles.
From memory:
Longest: Funkadelic - (Not Just) Knee Deep (15:22)
Shortest: Sonic Adventure - Fish Hits! (1:33)
It depends; I have 2 music libraries. On my desktop, the shortest track is "A Bug Fell In Love With A Cat", clocking in at around 0:13. Longest would be I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That), which is around 15 minutes or so.
On my laptop, shortest is "Talk Dirty To Me" by Poison at 3:44, and longest is "Komm Susser Todd" from End Of Evangelion at 7:41.

- Shortest: "Hawaiian Disco Without Bollocks" by Boredoms. 0:04
- Longest: "FACT mix 325" by Battles. 1:02:24
FACT mix 325 is a DJ mix so it's not surprising considering those are almost always a single mp3 file.

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Shortest: "Timelapse" by Empyrios, 25 seconds.

Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!Shortest: Buckethead - Pickwick's Lost Chapter (0:33)
Longest: Tiamat - Mount Marilyn (10:33)
Please don't feed the trolls!Shortest: Several albums that I own have extremely short interlude tracks, so it would probably be a toss-up. I also can't remember if I have Napalm Death's "You Suffer" or not...
Longest: I have a live performance by the experimental group Excepter that goes on for something like six hours straight on a single MP 3. It's pretty interesting, in small doses. I also have La Monte Young's The Well-Tuned Piano, which is made up of one continuous five-hour performance of the titular piece divided into five hour-long tracks.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. The shortest file that could still be called a song: I'm So Sad, So Very, Very, Sad from the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack at 0:13
Longest: Still I'm Sad, live version by Rainbow 25:16
Shortest: "[Untitled Track]" by Ayreon at 00:04.
Longest: "Crimson" by Edge of Sanity at 40:00.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Blank by Tool (2 seconds). The shortest with some actual content is Intro by The Offspring (4 seconds).
The longest is 9027 Km by OK Go (34:47). I should really delete that album from my library; I never listen to it.
Shortest: A tie between Cotton Candy's "Carnation Instant Breakfast" and Darkbuster's "Jerk", both 5 seconds. One is a cover of an ad jingle, the other is the whole band playing one note as the singer exclaims "jerk" (there are similar songs on the album called "You Jerk" and "You Fucking Jerk").
Longest: Not counting a couple of mixtapes that are sequenced as one track, "Pendulous Skin" by Mastodon (22:16). However, I'm inclined not to count that because it's one of those songs that has such a long run time because of a Hidden Track - the longest track I have that's one continuous song is "The Most Unwanted Song" by Dave Soldier and Komar & Melamid (21:59).
I recommend making a mix with the theme of Miniscule Rocking and seeing how many tracks you can fit on one 80 minute CD. I have a 99 track mix that's very fun to listen to, maybe more so on shuffle.

Shortest: "Shut Up" by Five Iron Frenzy; "Fingertips (Who's Knocking on the Wall?)" by They Might Be Giants. Both 4 seconds long.
Longest: "The Box" by Orbital. Length 28:25. I guess it may not count, since it was originally four separate tracks (on The Box EP), then got strung together for the bonus disc of the American version of In Sides.
In which case, "Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis, length 26:59.
Shortest: Cattle Decapitation: The Decapitation of Cattle, 0:02
Longest: Flower Kings: Garden of Dreams, 59:25

- Longest: Bomb The Music Industry - "(jeff disapproves of this bonus track) SUPERTALK! (2005 - 2008)" at 46:26. Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.
See the thread title.
From my library:
The shortest track is "Her Majesty" by The Beatles at 0:26, though that's only because the CD version reveals the Hidden Track. The second shortest is The Beatles "Wild Honey Pie" at 0:53.
The longest track is the live version of "Do You Feel Like We Do" by Peter Frampton at 13:54. The longest studio track I have is CCR's version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" at 11:03.
