This is the place to share your love for one of the most popular CCGs on the planet.

As per the spoiler policy, no posting card information or links to cards from unreleased sets. Given that Wizards officially reveals each set in its entirety online, the date of such event will be considered the release date for the purposes of things no longer being spoilers.

. . . What. No, really, what? May be the drugs talking, but how exactly do cards fall under the policy? Just because it's called "spoilers" doesn't mean it's actually revealing some bit of plot info people don't want to see. More importantly, what counts as a spoiler here? If Wizards posts a preview article, are we not allowed to post it?

Honestly this just seems like an extra hassle.

[up][up][up]Must be hard for him to have any kind of social life. Just try to hold a conversation when you flee for your life every time someone walks into the room.

[up][up]I think this falls under "technically, what Exe said is correct but if the Magic Thread gets a special spoiler treatment other threads will start to request one as well and soon we will have to give every thread individual treatment".

. . . Thank you for massaging my pride, Chuckles. Herm. I guess I see the point from an administration standpoint. Can we at least get a waver on the five post thing? Otherwise we'll get pages that go

Idler: New set.

Exe: La

Chuck: La la

DC: La de da

Count: C-C-Combo breaker!

Nyk: So yeah that set's pretty legit.

The only things from the old thread I mourn are the glorious 1150+ page count and 28000+ post count sad

We were so close to 29000, too...

This really does needlessly split the discussion when there's, what, five people who actively posted in the Magic thread? None of whom care about being spoiled?

I don't think the split is inherently bad; most actual Magic forums separate spoiler discussion into its own subforum, but I don't like it with such a small "community".

But whatever, the other thread will be dead 90% of the time and this thread will be dead during spoiler season, la dee da, more or less ends up as business as usual.

I guess it is.

On the other hand, more space to wank about Magic.

Still curious about the article thing.

I don't think the five posts thing is relevant here; the policy mentions linking to a "free, legal online source" as one reason to stop hiding spoilers. So all it means is someone has to link to the Card Image Gallery whenever a set is fully revealed.

Edit: No, wait, I misread, you still need five posts. Yeah, I don't feel like that really applies in this case...

Edit 2: To try and make things more clear, since a Card Image Gallery isn't like an episode or a chapter or something, there's no reason that seeing discussion of it before seeing the gallery itself would actually weaken the experience of seeing it. So it shouldn't be treated the same way. I'd campaign to have another section added to the policy to deal with cases like this, but I don't know if there are enough other ones to make it relevant.

Though technically the preview articles and such would count as official previews for the purpose of the spoiler policy, the OP uses somewhat stricter rules so that it's easier to keep linked conversation topics together.

So I can't talk about X article because it came out before the full set was spoiled?

-_-

So yeah, this thread is going to die during spoiler season and the other thread is going to be dead everywhen else.

Why is this a good idea, exactly?

[up] Don't be silly, it's not going to die during spoiler season!

It's just that it's only going to contain pony memes, challenges to games, and praise of Storm Crow.

And Wood Elemental!

Fungus Elemental is an amusing card; it's like someone tried to fix Wood Elemental but managed only to produce something mediocre instead of actually good.

[up][up] Shame. Wood Elemental was at least notorious for its awfulness; I'd never even heard of Fungus Elemental until today.

[up] Huge undercosted thing with "when ~ enters the battlefield, sacrifice a Forest" or some such. Kind of like Scythe Tiger from Zendikar.

Chimney Imp is definitely better than Wood Elemental; at least you can use Chimney Imp with Shirei.

Depending on whether you have access to Gatherer during play, somewhere between "very" and "obscenely".
