I forgot the time machine was there too. It was kind of funny be wise it's just so obvious.

I just looked at a chart to get the true ending flags (because fuck, I don't want to start over a bazillion times)… Okay, how the heck are we supposed to guess all that from nothing? ô.Ô

Dunno. Jast released Steins Gate with a walkthrough at least.

…I see now. It's not just the mails. The flags also trigger additional scenes that strengthen the bond between Okarin and Kurisu. And Kurisu's Tsundereness.

I freaked out a bit when the credits started to roll − like "what? Wait, that's the true ending? Move outta the way, damn credits!" And… well, they actually did when I pressed triangle. >.> Phew.

So chapter 11: Open the Steins Gate… So Okarin did go to the past… And he killed Kurisu himself. That I did not expect. The whole thing is really heartbreaking − even more than with the incomplete ending. But now there's hope! It seems? Now opening the video mail…

PS: My GOD Kurisu's dad…

The credits get interrupted by a call from the future on the true ending, actually. I liked it. Wasn't aware you could skip them.

By the way, there's an anime only epilogue. I'm not sure if I really liked it myself, but you might want to watch it.

Oh no, I didn't skip the credit, I just pressed the button to answer a call when the phone rang, just in case… and it triggered the ending and the credits backrolled. That's pretty cool indeed. For a moment I was afraid it would be a post-credit phone scene with a Sequel Hook à la Metal Gear Solid…

Beta Suzuha looks pretty cool, by the way. <3

True ending at last. o/

What can I say besides… D'AAAAAAWWWW. ;___; Kurisu's reaction at the end was way too adorable. Okarin is insane alright, but eh, what wouldn't you do out of love.

…So that's the end of the ride (save for the Kurisu ending I haven't gotten yet). It was pretty fun overall. The characters are all loveable, the mail-system is used cleverly, and there are some pretty intense scenes. Also, excellent plotting with foreshadowing in the right places. And just when I thought I'd had enough on Miyano Mamoru's voice, I must say I enjoyed his performance here. On the minus side, I wish the first half of the story was a bit trimmed down, because it felt like a lot of nothing happening. Funny nothing, but… yeah. It doesn't help that there are like 10 different musics in the whole VN, most of them forgettable.

So I'd say my main complaint is about the overall pace of the story. And maybe its… scale? I mean it's about time travel and stuff, but you never really feel like the world's fate is at stake. The greater threat (other than Mayuri or Kurisu's death) is a distant and vague one; in the end, most of the action remains circumscribed in that tiny amateur lab. But I guess it's justified by Okarin really being just a college student who wants to save his friends, and that those threats are just as distant and vague for him.

Also, Luka is Kobayashi Yuu. I didn't recognize her voice at all. Ô.Ô

(…I realize the is the first VN I finish that's not by 07th Expansion. A strange feeling.)

Kurisu ending is just the true ending if it had stopped before the credits. You've basically read it already.

I think the issue with the scale is that while the future of the world is important to Suzuha it doesn't really feel real to Okabe either. He never expresses real concern over it compared to Mayuri. But you noticed that too. Suzuha's concern over it just helps Okabe handle what really matters to him.

Watching the anime. I'm glad they understood what made the series fun and interesting, unlike some other studios. *cough*DEEN*cough*

I was a bit baffled by the washed-out colors and lack of music at first, but it does fit the general atmosphere. And the quips and banter (the main appeal of the first half of the story, really) are paced remarkably well. I especially love that scene in the park, where Okarin is annoyingly reading Moeka's mail before realizing she's just in front of him. [lol]

Luka somehow looks even more girly than in the VN, which is quite a feat.

Steins Gate is one of the few genuinely good VN adaptations I've seen. They ruined Kurisu's hair though so I can't like it. Monsters.

Watched the movie after ep. 25… goddamnit, it's good. Ô.Ô It's just a bit weird that Suzuha would travel 20 years to the past just to save someone… who "disappeared" way before she was even born. It's not like she's trying to prevent a world war or anything this time…

But it really has some great character moments. Hououin Kurisu was somehow hilarious, awesome, and tear-jerking all at once…

That little moment with Suzuha's mom was pretty funny too. tongue If only you knew, Kurisu.

I forgot this place existed for a while.

Anyone played S;G0 yet? Any thoughts? I personally liked it a lot but as much as I want to love it I feel it didn't resound with me as much as vanilla S;G. Maho resounds with me better than Kurisu though, so that was something.

Nope. I might pick up Vita version after Christmas but the concept of SG0 never really appealed to me much.

I get what you mean. At first the very idea of a sequel didn't really make me feel excited. Even when they revealed the premise I still felt it wasn't really enough to justify extending S;G any longer.

I know some people liked S;G0 so much(namely Reading Steiner and some anons elsewhere) they say it's an essential entry to S;G's story. I don't really share that opinion but I do feel it was about as good of a sequel S;G could've ever possibly gotten.

SG 0 is better in all regards except ending because real ending alread yexist in firs vn. Serious Okabe with Hounin Kyoma actually being importat.

More resonable end of the world scenarion with various factions. Expanded cast of characters that properly explain to the reader that Okabe is not a HERO-kun. ANYONE can build time machine after some research and time. And essentialy genius Cristina is responsible for it. Okabe just happeden to use microvave in right time,

Story about broken man who lost everything and will lose even more. Serious tone. Mature characters with dgoals and dreams. Mayuri from useless fap material with daun syndrome matured into REAL character with deep indide world. He story acr about Hikoboshi was perfect. It was ideal metaphor about how Okabe is dead inside. Her silent love and support made her actual hard choice. In original SG I gave no f about her death. She was at best obstacle. Even Kyoma flashback gave get just tiny bit of character. She just was ther to be stupid plot device. Faris actually particapated as lab member this time. And so Luka, Moeka, Maho and etc. WE actually saw end of the world and all hardwork Kyoma did. Not just sausy video mail but actualy felt all of it.

Although SG 0 spoiled pefect plot by introducing few plotholes and paradoxes. Kagari and that f song for example. And there was not enough of time travel. I would rather cut 1/3 of SG(namely faris,Luka and Mayuri routes) and incorporate SG 0 into original story in one vn(mayuri route and Kurisu). That way True route would be so much more epic. Edit off topic: OMG you still dont have New Year! its end of 1st january already at my place.

How are these games as a whole? Got a PS Vita recently and am thinking about picking up the ones released on it. Well, the ones with an English translation at least.

Steins;Gate is very good. Chaos;Head is very bad. I haven't read the other stuff.

Anyone know if Chaos;Child is getting a pc release, or just ps4/vito?

I'm thinking about buying Steins;Gate, but I'm told that it's a sequel to Chaos;Head. How much of a sequel is it?

Is it like Commonwealth Saga, that's basically one novel in two volumes? Or like The Hate U Give and On The Come Up, where they're two basically unconnected stories with one or two brief references in OTCU to the plot of THUG? Or like superhero comics used to be, where one issue's plot is shaped by earlier ones, but it's explained to new readers, so that you can keep up anyway?

(Oh, and I'd be grateful if you'd PM me the answer. I will NOT read this thread, since it might contain unmarked spoilers.)

...I don't really want to go out my way to send a PM. If you read my response here, great, otherwise too bad. People throw spoiler tags up when there's a new reader anyway.

It's not a sequel. It occurs in the same setting. If it was a sequel I would never have read it since Chaos Head is pure concentrated garbage of the finest quality, unsurpassed in this world.

So I noticed a chaos;head let's play and I'm curious about whether its direct sequel to chaos;child and I should wait until that is out for pc first?
