I'm not sure if Script/ or Scripts/ is an official namespace, yet. Currently, we have two on the former and three on the latter. Personally, I think we should have a Script/ namespace for works that are done in script. This can include official film scripts as well as the amateur type of scripts.
I don't agree on making namespaces just because of different trope usage; that way lays chronic confusion if the lines are fuzzy.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe mention of different tropes usage above wasn't especially an argument for adding a namespace. The point was that the category is sufficiently distinct from standard literature to warrant a sub-section. We already have a LightNovel/ namespace, after all.
From a mechanistic perspective, CYOA books really ought to go wherever Interactive Fiction goes, which I think is Video Games, but that would cause massive confusion. I do agree that they're kind of poorly placed in Literature, though.
I don't really see the point of separating puppet shows from theatre generally.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. If Puppet Shows are on TV, though - I think it would just go under Series/.
Oh, yes, I was thinking live puppet shows. That would be a kind of theatre, to me.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. We already distinguish live-action TV series from western animation TV series. My point is that puppet shows are neither, and should have their namespace.
It kind of makes sense to put puppet shows, both live on the stage and broadcast on TV or in a film, in their own section. I mean, I still don't know where The Muppet Show goes. Is it live-action? It's got almost no human beings in it, man.
Of course, mixing animated and live characters predates computer graphics special effects and is becoming more common ala Star Wars, so perhaps "any live human actor or set appears" is the threshhold for Live-Action.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.I think we should also have a namespace for AbridgedSeries/, as there are quite a few of them.
Very true, but it's a fairly narrow namespace and furthermore redundant (this coming from someone who leans Splitter; AbridgedSeries.<work>TheAbridgedSeries looks kinda ridiculous). I did vouch for FanVid/ but it did get shot down, and Fan Work/ isn't even authorized for anything but indexes for fanworks of franchises. Oh well, maybe next time?

I now go by Graf von Tirol. There should be one for animated shorts, like individual episodes of Looney Tunes and the like, many of which have pages.
My tropes launched: https://surenity2.blogspot.com/2021/02/my-tropes-on-tv-tropes.htmlI really think Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies should have their own namespace, since there are so many of them. Harry Potter and The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy have their own namespaces, and both of them have less than ten.

There's a difference between namespaces used for subpages of a franchise, and namespaces for a whole media/type of works.
I think the first are a leftover of earlier days of the wiki but are no longer encouraged right now.
Now, any opinion from the mods on the suggested media namespaces?

I just have a thing for consistency, I guess. If we're not gonna have a namespace for Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies, then we also shouldn't have one for Harry Potter or Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I didn't mean Looney Tunes specifically, I meant theatrical animated shorts in general having a namespace, being a slightly different medium than a TV show of feature length film..
My tropes launched: https://surenity2.blogspot.com/2021/02/my-tropes-on-tv-tropes.htmlI really think we should have a /Mix Media for things of a single work which spans multiple mediums (I don't mean where a work is adapted into multiple mediums). Also do we have a / Alternate Reality Game or / Drama CD if not we really should.
Also we need a /Rock Opera Rock Opera's shouldn't just be merged in with Music they stand apart from both music and theater.
Also on Abridged I don't think we should have a /Abridged I do think we should create a /Web Parody though which abridged would be a part of, that way more series fall under it. Actually scratch that we don't really need a name space for a genre.

Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comThere aren't many music album pages yet, but there should be an Album/ namespace.
I think music albums would just go under Music/.
Music/ can be used for albums and music videos as well as artists.

Rhymes with "Protracted."If artists are being listed separately from their work, they should go in the Creator namespace. Like if we have an entry for Miley Cyrus that's about her as a person rather than Hannah Montana (admittedly that's a poor example as she has published work under both names). Or Geddy Lee as a distinct person from Rush.
If the article is about their body of work, it goes in Music. If it's about them as a person — and there is a separate article for their work — it belongs in Creator.

I now go by Graf von Tirol. There's no need to split as long as one article can satisfy the requirements. If there's ambiguity, make redirects.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I'm firmly opposed to splitting TV series with puppets from live-action TV. They are live action series — the term "live action" is a technical description of the recording process; it has nothing to do with whether the central characters are flesh-and-blood creatures.
But the Namespace used isn't LiveAction/, it's Series/. And as I specified, attributing a specific namespace doesn't mean in any way or form that these shows are not considered Live-Action. The namespace is simply a sub-section. We already have such — the LightNovel/ namespace is a sub-section of Literature/; it doesn't mean Light Novels are not considered Literature. Same thing with VisualNovel/ being a subsection of VideoGame/, or Bollywood/ being a sub-section of live-action movies. It never excludes them from the main categories, it is just a bit more specific.

I am starting this thread to suggest new namespaces to be put in the official list. I am not for unchecked namespace inflation, but the following should be useful to add:
First, a PuppetShow/ namespace for the series within the Puppet Shows index. They are clearly distinct from live-action shows and animation (even though, as specified on the index page, they can have sometimes live-action actors). They are currently moved to Series/, which I feel is inadequate.
Also, a Gamebook/ namespace could be useful for Choose Your Own Adventure type of books. It can be considered a sub-namespace of Literature, but they have quite specific tropes in themselves (notably some video game tropes) that set them apart. The few that have been moved are in the Literature/ namespace.
