Not all indexes are "not tropes". Some (supertropes especially) are both. We need a way to differentiate.

I think it might be a good idea to put a banner on index pages that are not supertropes, similar to the YMMV banner, that says "This is an index, not a trope. Please do not list it as a trope on works pages."
