It even has the old Toonami "Teamwork" bumper.

But real talk, I did not see this coming. Huge deal! I remember there was a commotion about how early-era AS!Toonami tried to have Sailor Moon in the schedule (I think either the original or the remake?) but something blocked them from doing it.

If this works out, I wouldn't be surprised if they smuggle in classic Gundam later on. (Maybe G Gundam because it's turning 30?)

I thought the opposite, Jason De Marco REFUSED to have anything older "Than Cowboy Bebop" I think they are doing this block because Nostalgia blocks have done amazing for Me TV and the ratings are SO LOW they might as try anything by now.

Guys if you want more of these kinds of blocks, WATCH SAILOR MOON. I know its dated and it may not be your thing, but its the one show that isnt a rerun and thus the ratings are still released.

So it might have been the Crystal remake that they tried to score in the early years, but couldn't.

Glad the Viz dub will be used.

There was no possible way to use the Di C or even the Cloverway dub.

Our Toonami man, Jason DeMarco elaborates on Toonami Rewind, saying they'll be "using classic older Toonami music and some older packaging (mostly things that were recreated in HD for our anniversary broadcast years ago)."

I'm glad someone was able to post news about Toonami Rewind, today and yesterday has been an absolute madhouse down here in Houston!

I posted this on the discussion page, but I really think we need to trim up the entire top of the Toonami page. It's just paragraph after paragraph of a storied history that I think needs to be preserved— just not on the front page and not on top of the weekly schedule. It's time to trim the fat.

I'm willing to just cut it all out and get right to the point, but I know someone else will probably have issues with that, so I'm open to discussion.

PSA: The MawS S1 analysis/review won't be happening tonight. Besides having my hands full with other matters recently, I have quite a bit to review and cover, and want to make sure all my thoughts are properly conveyed, so I'm not going to try to rush it out ahead of the S2 premiere.

Which is probably better in some ways, since some of the points I was going to make about the possible trajectory of the show in S2 and potential narrative pitfalls might be addressed (at least to a degree) by the first episode.

If all goes well and I don't get derailed (again), I should be finished in another week or two, but I'll keep you all posted regardless. o7

And regarding Toonami Rewind, I can't say I was too surprised to hear the news given Checkered Past's draw these past few months and the general shift among consumers towards older media. Still, good news is good news.

Though I doubt it'll come to pass, it would be something if Toonami Rewind somehow proved successful enough to expand to basically what it was during the original block's run.

Also, we're talking OG Naruto, right? A bit ironic considering how often detractors of the original run associate it with Toonami's downfall, a stigma I'm not sure it's actually shaken off to this day.

Not sure if it would conflict with editing rules (though I don't think it would), but perhaps that info/overview could be preserved as part of a Timeline and/or Analysis page? Neither of those have been created from the looks of things.
