Kind of surprised that no-one's mentioned Kurosu Taichi?

Because, yeah. Rarely likable, sometimes annoying, frequently terrifying. But he's a fascinating character nevertheless—maybe my favorite character, actually.

Otherwise, I'd say that Takeru from the Muv Luv series is pretty cool—the games do a brilliant job with his character arc. Ati from Sekien no Inganock's a really fun character as well, as is Nagatsuki from Forest.

Also there's Usami Haru, but she's already been mentioned. Still, though, there's a reason why people keep mentioning her. If there were more Usami Harus in the world of visual novels, I dunno if it would be greatly enriched but at least it would be a little more interesting.

As for villains: Houzuki, from Sharin no Kuni. Without a doubt.

I mentioned Taichi. He made it to #5 on my list, which is pretty damn good.

Takeru had the interesting character development thing until the last scene where the visual novel spends 15 minutes showing Takeru agonizing over shooting Meiya and completely negates all the mental grittiness he had supposedly acquired. I got so annoyed with that scene dragging on I started rooting for the tentacle monster to just kill him for being such an idiot.

I have no idea.

Not the best, per se, but Trollzaki is awesome.

[up] Yep, he was funny especially with his interactions with Nagisa. Made After story all the better.

Since I finished Sharin No Kuni I think it's time to add Kenichi Morita and Masaomi Houzuki to my list. I love how the best characters in that VN are the protagonist and antagonist. And for god's sake, Houzuki's voiced by Norio Wakamoto, which is an instant plus.

[up][up] I think that's a lot what saved Nagisa as a character. Mainly the way she was surprisingly resilient towars his teasing, despite being rather shy.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.

^^ I didn't notice Norio Wakamoto until later. I was ashamed.

1. Suguru Oogushi - best minor character ever. Some of the most hilarious/awesome scenes ever. Gotta love the ridiculous 3D women hating.

2. Kenichi Morita - Really funny but I really liked his role at helping the 3 main girls develop.

3.Miyako Shiina - Admittedly she would probably be kinda creepy in real life, but the way [[she's presented Lovable Sex Maniac ]] was just hilarious.

4.Sachi Mitsuhiro - Quite liked her Character Development. Even if they had to make her extremely frustrating for a while.

5.[[Clannad BR Ohei Sunohara]] - Best Butt-Monkey Ever. And I'm usually not fond of this trope.

6.Sumika Kagami - comforting Takeru in Alternative is one of my favorite scenes ever. And she does a lot of great things in Alternative in generael once she wakes up in the crappy world

Aw, you're the first person to not have Usami Haru in their list. :<

...Woah. I just noticed that haha.

I said this in the G-senjou thread but I like Haru but she isn't one my top favorites (or even my favorite from G-senjou)

In no particular order:

1. Chou Shiryu - A touch of class, a touch of craziness, and a love of alcohol. My kind of girl.

2. Rin Tohsaka - It was a toss-up between several, but I wanted to give some other games a fair shake, so Rin it is.

3. Sandalphon - Voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama and for overall coolness.

4. Hiroshi - Crazy Awesome. That is all.

5. Angela Victoire Blendin - I can't really explain it.

Honorable Mention: Usami Haru - Because I just want to fit in tongue

1. Kotomine Kirei - Fate/Stay Night. Favorite villain. Simply because Nasu wrote him so damn well that he became four-dimensional. 2. Mercurius - Dies Irae: Acta Est Fabula. A literal quote mine. And a huge troll. 3. Emiya Shirou Fate/Stay Night. As mentioned by someone else: His internal conflict was certainly interesting. Although his... small hints of sexism brings that like of mine down a few notches. 4. Reinhard Heydrich Dies Irae: Acta Est Fabula. Awesome voice and awesome quotes. A trait shared with Mercurius. Helps that he is a badass. 5. ... I can't think of one here honestly.
