As many as you can reasonably fit in a suitable form factor for your needs.
But arguably if you actually need more than like 6 to 8 you were never gonna unfuck whatever sticky situation you found yourself in as a civilian.

Oh really when?If you need multiple mags or the full 15 of double stacked mag you are likely in some really deep shit and should be looking to escape and evade not engage.
Call it 8-10 max.

Cornelius, but do not waste in useless pity the few moments left in which to escape from the hands of the enemy.I'm not gonna click on a random youtube link, you gotta tell us what the video is about and give a summary.
Oh really when? The AT Fs ban on short barreled rifles was struck down by the courts.
I dont really like vibe with the guy in the video...
But man that has to have been one of the stupidest rules, so good ridance.
When you post links be it videos or news articles you need to give us context as to what the link is. No blind links this is a forum rule. A good example would be saying a Youtube video on this by this person in a potholed link. If you want to know how to do Potholes click show Markup Help below the posting box.
Who watches the watchmen?Ukrainian National Police received firearms "donated" by Miami Police. Some are likely to be used in Irpin.
The firearms are likely from confiscated caches/surrendered to the police.
A Russian kit taken from a captured Russian soldier.
Among them include an AK-12 Obr. 2020 assault rifle.
Shiny. I want to take it apart already.
Who watches the watchmen?Hopefully you know someone in the Ukrainian Army.

Apparently, this was "sorta" big when Fukuoka Prefectural Police arrested a guy for taking deactivated guns and making them live. No ammo was seized.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."DRDO's collaborating with Dvipa Armour India Private Limited to create an assault rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO called the Ugram. It's going to be tested by the Indian Army.

Why are they going through all the effort of making a new rifle when they already have an arrangement to make AK-203s? Was there a change in Russo-Indian relations, or was the AK-203 intended to be a stopgap solution to begin with?
Because the Indian government runs on nationalism and using foreign designs is embarrassing for them, no matter how superior they are.
Oh really when?I recall hearing that the AK-203's suppose to be replacing all INSAS A Rs in Indian military service. They want the 7.62 Soviet caliber due to its penetration power.
Although for Indian-made rifles, I like their 1C, which is a variant of the 1A1 SLR. It's suppose to be used when fired inside APCs and all, but the short barrel can be used for CQB and jungle warfare.
A random musing about guns and home defense.
Is double barreled shotgun good enough for home defense? From my Googling, the common consensus is that while it's most certainly better than nothing, pump-action shotguns are infinitely better.
The oft-cited reasons are that even though they're in the similar price range, pump action not only has higher capacity (obviously) but also can inflict a massive psychological threat through pumping, with the only advantage double barrel has is the fact that it's more reliable.
...But man, while I always loved shotguns, I recently fell in love with double barrel. If I was an American, I would spend so much money on guns and at least half of the collection will be shotguns.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. The odds of someone actually needing more than two shells of basically any caliber in a realistic home defense scenario are basically nil.
Hell the odds of you needing more than one incredibly small.
Frankly that's something that's true in general for firearms. The only guns you ever might need are some small little pocket gun in .38 or .380 and a 20 gauge single shot shotgun.
That's more than sufficient for just about any realistic personal or home defense event and to pretend otherwise is just kind of silly. There's a ridiculous amount of machismo and fudd opinions about guns and self defense in general and it's really poisoned a lot of the discussion around the topic. To say nothing about how the modern advertising around guns plays into it and is often just scaremongering. Or how much of the modern gun industry is frankly just straight up grift.
However...
With all that being said if it's within your means to buy something more than what's strictly necessary there's no real reason not to do so. Just keep a reasonable head about the use case and what you're spending that extra money on.
Oh really when?Hell the odds of you needing more than one incredibly small.
Hmm, fair enough.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I'm gonna be honest, I started reading the question and was just happy it wasn't a question about what kind of shot will penetrate a home intruder without overpenetrating drywall.
I'm guessing that's an annoyingly common question in regards to shotgun and home defense?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. It is and the correct answer is usually a nice light birdshot.
Still extremely lethal force at home defense ranges (Yes even 20 gauge or .410) but will quickly lose velocity going through something like drywall or across longer distances.
Oh really when?Shotguns are an old standby for home defense because they are one of the most commonly owned hunting weapons. The simple answer is this. Anything that can reliably stop a person will go through drywall.
Who watches the watchmen?Yeah it's the safest option, that doesn't mean it's actually safe.
Oh really when?
How many rounds should an EDC Gun have?
