"Unknowingly helped her" is more like it. It's not certain if she knows what she became or exactly how she became what she is, after all.

Inflicting massive amounts of pain and helping her at the same time is still helping.

Depends on the definition of "help". Sure, she might have relieved her of the pain of her history, but she also took her powers and the closest things she has to hands in the deal. To slightly psychopathic Mandy that might be thought of as fitting punishment. On the other hand, Mandy has shown herself as aware enough of the nuances of the human condition to make that point moot, but who knows.

EDIT: Also, it's not at all impossible that Mandy only took her powers and left what it took to get them intact, leaving her with the worst of both worlds.

Yeah I agree, any helping was incidental. For that matter, given Mandy's rather twisted take on reality she might consider removing Mimi's demonic side a punishment.

Finally archive binged everything, but I'm a little confused. Without looking at spoilers, our page implies this is a completed comic with a couple spinoffs. Was there a reboot or something?

We are currently in the "What About Mimi?" Arc, which technically is a sequel to the Grim Tales From Down Below proper.

BTW, does anyone know if there's a way to download all of the Afterbirth sequel in one go, rather than downloading it one image at a time?

This does not look like a Grim Tales strip. None of the characters involved are even remotely related to the Grim Tales series AFAIK.
