Not quite sure if I'm on board with this ship or not, honestly. I just don't find myself interested in Walky's romances.

#77: Mar 13th 2012 at 8:03:07 AM

Walky is just to normal and competent to be entertaining to the romance fans.

[up]Yes, they way he spent days slipping into fearful paralysis and occasional psychosis due to the mere presence of his crush is totally normal and competent.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

In this comic? Yes.

Seriously though, Walky and Dorothy are by far the most normal characters. Joyce, Billie, Ethan, and Danny are caricatures of personalities that really exist, and the others are just ludicrously over the top, but Walky and Dorothy are pretty realistic portrayals of many college students.

I have a hard time seeing how Danny is a caricature and Walky isn't.

...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.

Yeah, Walky is much weirder than Danny.

Yeah, Danny was ME at age 18. Almost exactly.

I've met my share of Joyces, Ambers, Dinas, and Ethans, too.

Hey, Joyce, being friends does not mean you get to monopolize their time. Or dictate their choice of boyfriends.

(The wording of this strip could be interpreted either way, so I'm hedging my bets.) tongue

The simple fact is, generally speaking, towards the beginning of any given relationship the members of said relationship tend to spend more time with each other than with other relations. Joyce could just be remarking upon that. I mean she was hardly monopolizing Dorothy's time before.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

Yep! Plus it means that's four days where nothing plot-relevant happened. I'm glad for that, something important happening every day is downright unrealistic.

It does mean we missed Sal and Jason's study date, though. sad

[up]Tomorrow we find out there's a "Freaky Friday" Flip going on and Mike is trying to piss Joyce off without giving the game away.

Well, considering exactly who she's being sort-of-clingy towards, she's well on her way to moving away from those problems quite nicely.

Also, can I now assume you agree with me that Joyce does have that clinginess problem? You refuted me before when I said it (which is partly why I posted it again). tongue

wild mass guess The author of Misfile and the author of the Walkyverse were really the same person this whole time. It's just that tiaxrulesall was the first one to figure this out. tongue

I just recently picked this comic up, and I'm liking it. I read Roomies/It's Walky! back before it ended (though I picked that one up late enough that it was mostly through Archive Binge), and I've been reading Shortpacked! for a year or so, too, so it's interesting seeing all these characters and their relationships rebooted.
