All Purpose Naruto Fanfiction Thread

Recommending this Peggy Sue fic. Hilarious to the bones and makes some really good points about the source material's plot holes and other faults.

That lemon fic I recommended is funny and hot as hell. Its like reading Naruto mixed with Urotsukidoji but Lighter and Softer with no demonic invasion, and an extremely perverted Kyuubi that basically allows it to happen.

Thus, the Urotsukidoji reference I made above.

Seconded, I loved that fic especially the part with the Sound Four near the end, and the 'Sakura was useless', and Evil.Souless.Puppets running gags.

Random question, is genin,chunin,jonin etc. supposed to be capitalized?

I don't think so. Of course, fanfiction uses all sorts of conventions, not always even consistent within a story, but capitalizing the ranks always looks clumsy to me.

Oh thanks. I started writing my first Naruto fanfic and wasn't really sure whether or not I should capitalize them.

That fic I mentioned up top deserves a page of its own.

Don't know if this is on the rec page, but I'd like to recommend Time Braid, it's a Peggy Sue fanfic where Sakura is the one repeating the Chunin exam. Later she finds out Naruto is also one and caused the time loop they're just not always in the same loop. Hinata is also one and went completely Ax-Crazy from repeating her fight with Neji, which eventually turned into Neji killing her over and over until she was strong enough to win.

It's pretty much a far better, serious, without character-bashing(except one, maybe two scenes with Kakashi but Sakura later admits she was completely wrong about him) version of Chunin Exam Day, with a far smaller harem.

Time Braid is recced. I'd also like to rec, like, everything else the guy has ever done, on both FFnet and FictionPress. Only one story other than Time Braid (Indomitable) is really fleshed out at all, but they're all good. (For Want of a Jinchuuriki has the best line from Gaara ever: "Send for me when it comes time to kill off your enemies.")

Sasuke (pre-timeskip) as over-the-top arrogant incompetent bastard. Yeah, he's a bit of a jerk, but he does mostly have the skills to back it up. More specifically, he really doesn't just ride on his name; he's obsessed with his own personal power.

True. I don't mind most bashing of him, but it is a bit over the top.

Same with Sakura bashing, which I mind a lot more.

I'd like to recommend Hakumei. Preposterous beginning aside, it gets really awesome soon after.

I do like Hakumei. It misses my most-awesome-fanfics list because the author keeps ending dialog with a comma even when there's not an ending dialog tag, which bugs me horribly. But yeah, other than that it's pretty great. (And indeed, the beginning, and in fact the whole assembly of the team, is rather preposterously coincidental, but it's tolerable, especially because the character interactions are fairly cool.)

Hokage getting off'd by Danzo, the latter, the head of secret assassin squad not even realizing the kids listening to him, and the former entrusting kids with his supposedly top secret scrolls?

Holy hell, how the hell did I even get past first two chapters, I have no idea now that I look back. Then again, like said, character interactions are highly entertaining so I have no problem.

AlphaEph19's Rise of the Uchiha or what if Itachi made an even worse decision during the Uchiha crisis.

Ironically, the long-term prospects of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura seem to be better than of their canonical counterparts.

@doineedaname: You call that non-harem? I mean, it's a good fic, for one with such a young-male-feeling-lens, but geez.

Yeah...not quite non-harem. Call it 'harem not so stupidly large as that in Chunin Exam Day', where it eventually seemed that the author was trying to have every named female character in the universe be with Naruto.

Weren't the only named female characters not in the harem post timeskip and filler-only characters?

I can't even recall. I just remember it being kind of...insane.

And he converts almost all of them with massage (because ten minutes of a good shoulder rub means marriage, right? If that's the case, I'd be found guilty of polygamy (hooray health spas)), except for Sakura who he stockholm syndromes into offering her body to him in an attempt to get the other harem girls to stop hating her and as some twisted form of begging for him to forgive her for not fellating his greatness from the first moment they met. And of course Naruto is so nice to refuse her 'advances' and be all 'Yeah you just needed to learn some humility' or some bullshit like that.

This is presented as a good thing. Isn't that Orochimaru's thing, manipulating people into worshipping him (Kimimaro, Guren, Kabuto apparently, Zaku, Mizuki etc)?

I fucking hate this fanfic so much, like you couldn't tell.

Mahou Shinobi Knight is a Naruto Negima crossover where in the backstory after defeating madara he ends being The Creator of Begginings.

^^ Do you mean you hate this type of fanfic, or this one specifically? Because I read it and that didn't happen that I recall. The Sakura-is-sexually-humiliated thing, I mean, the massage thing is still there. And frankly, in a world where poking people with chakra can make their arms useless for a while, I kind of buy that there'd be a method of massage that could cause an excellent orgasm.

At any rate, I don't usually like this type of fanfic either, and this one was only okay for what it was. Somehow I doubt Hinata's a natural sub; girl is repressin' some serious control issues.

I distinctly remember a scene like that (fuck if I'm going to waste my time searching through 70+ chapters for it though); it was in a desert camp I believe.

Regardless it's still terrible.
