It'd be nice if we dropped the power levels a bit. This season was a blast, but there was so many "this cosmic entity can beat up that cosmic entity" matches that the entire season almost read like a single SCP entry.

Ah yes, the last season of Death Battle did remind me of SCP-1364, the anteater who's vulnerable to everything and will start bleeding from his ears if you so much as talk to it.

I do think it’d be nice to have some more lower power matches. Nothing wrong with high scale matches, but in the last season, 11/16 were in the planetary+ range.

Yeah, more down-to-earth MUs would be a nice change of pace next season. Like Bane vs. Jack Hanma, Huey Freeman vs. Jimmy Hopkins, Olimar vs. Papa Smurf, there's a lot of potential.

Almost certainly not. We know that death battle likes to do work on the first episodes of the next season near the end of the current one and they were well into production of multiple episodes beforehand. They’d certainly want to get down with those first.

Plus, AFAIK, the first three episodes of the last three seasons have always been "Comic Book -> Video Game -> Anime" in no particular order.

• Season 10: Ant-Man vs. Atom, Chosen Undead vs. Dragonborn, Killua vs. Misaka
• Season 9: Harley vs. Jinx, Scarlet Witch vs. Zatanna, Tanjirou vs. Jonathan Joestar
• Season 8: Yoda vs. King Mickey, Shadow vs. Ryuko, Lex Luthor vs. Doctor Doom

'course now we run into the problem that thanks to outliers being taken at face value, is there any "low level" characters? Anywhere, ever?

Because Vs debaters swears Walking Dead's Clementine is super sonic because was shot at but didn't get hit one time "dodged bullets".

Really depends what you even interpret as "low level". Some would say that would be two nearly average humans fighting, but others would argue you're still in overall low level status as long as the characters don't touch Moon level.

I know for some characters (e.g. Silver Surfer) you can gauge their exact tier of bullshit pretty easily, but yeah I don't think it's fair to complain about the number of planet-busters when the average joe would see Dovahkiin or Darth Vader and just assume they're regular dudes with cool magic.

A lot of online discussions and discourse around Death Battle is skewed by keeping up with the show long enough to get involved in the versus debate space, when the show itself's main purpose is to make the logic behind those discussions more digestible to an average person assuming they're not just there for the fight. I do think that's worth keeping in mind sometimes.

Alright, which franchise already represented on the show do you think is begging the most for a reappearance?

At first, I was going to say Darkstalkers, if only because it's only had two episodes despite it having a decently large and colorful roster... but then I remembered that Metroid, despite being one of the two franchises to be ever introduced (the other being Star Wars), hasn't had an episode since Samus vs. Boba Fett.

At this point it’s borderline offensive that Metroid’s only appearance is with Boba Fett, God of War and Doom have both had their series take massive changes since their early days, despite 2 Pokémon matchups being on the confirmed “it’s going to happen eventually” list it’s been over 3 seasons since one last since popped up.

Also in a Kirby fan and we aren’t used to going for a year without some Kirby content

Guilty Gear, full-stop. We haven't had one of those since Sol Badguy brought the franchise over with Ragna vs. Sol (BlazBlue hasn't been around for a long time either, thinking on it) and there's a big wealth of characters to pick from there. It could be anyone at this rate: A.B.A vs. Yuta Okkotsu, Demitri Maximoff vs. Slayer, Aigis vs. Ramlethal Valentine, any of these would be fun.

There's a part of me that would like to see someone from Team Fortress 2 pop up again, since the last (and only) time was when Scout went up against Tracer. I doubt it will happen, since TF2 isn't really as popular as it once was during the 2010s. But I bet you could still find some fun match-ups if you look hard enough.

Honestly, Engineer vs Sandy Cheeks would've rocked. Granted, it might be a stomp in Sandy's favor considering what we've already established with Spongebob, but would still be kinda fun.

Let’s see…

Blazblue is begging for a return. Their last appearance back in Ragna VS Sol wasn’t exactly the most flattering showing you could give a franchise, and there’s still plenty of picks to go for with it, or even just a rerun for Ragna. For similar reasons, Guilty Gear could use a return, especially with its popularity boosted by Strive.

Harry Potter is a franchise with a lot of… Controversy these days that I understand them not wanting to touch, but at the same time, it’s such a big name of a series only to end up with one episode back in Season 1. I’m not the biggest Harry Potter fan, but at the same time, it’s hard to deny that it’d make sense for a return.

Soulcalibur has only had two episodes, and weren’t considering very amazing ones back in Season 2. While it’s not a franchise that I think necessarily needs a return, they could definitely use a better showing than the ones they got back then.

Final Fantasy… Kinda. On paper, Final Fantasy has a respectable four matches, with one even being in Season 8. However, all of them come from Final Fantasy VII, which is just one (admittedly exceedingly popular) part of the massive franchise. There’s definitely room to explore a lot more here.

Ben 10 has only had one match, and it was agreed to be completely uncontroversial and flew under the radar. Joking aside, I don’t think it was even that great as an episode controversy aside, and I feel like there’s a lot more you could do with Ben, Gwen, Vilgax, or anyone else they wanted to bring on.

Castlevania has a lot of potential fighters, and honestly it’s a bit weird that Dracula was their first (and only) character so far. There’s definitely a lot of matches for different Belmonts, Alucard, or other such characters. I think a return to Castlevania is pretty justified.

Persona is more popular than ever, and it’s bizarre that their only combatant so far is Mitsuru of all characters. I say as someone who really likes Mitsuru. There’s a lot of other picks, with the most notable being the protagonists, or some of the main antagonists of course.

Of course, there’s no series that WOULDN’T benefit from getting another go. These just stuck out most to me.

Final Fantasy characters needing a MU:

Cecil from 4. There's a lot you can do with a Dark Knight-Turned-Paladin. Especially as the After Years shows him coming to terms with both stages, giving him Yin-Yang Bomb powers.

Gilgamesh from...several entries really. The most/only recurring character from the series, a multi-armed Large Ham kabuki swordsman on the quest to find the Excalibur, but keeps coming across Excalipoor? There's a lot you can do with him, and even more entertainment from it.

Jack Garland. Chaos.

Zidane from 9. Monkey tailed artificial human who's supposed to be some galactic conqueror's Angel of Death.

Tidus from 10. Sports star turned reluctant warrior. Frankly this is the perfect opportunity for whomever animates this match to flex their skills, Tidus' acrobatics would be flashy and a sight to see.

Yuna from 10. At the risk of violating the "No outside help" rules, I kinda want to see a summoner MU. Does she wins by siccing so many demigods on her opponent, or do they win by running the gauntlet? Throw in Yuna's feats from 10-2 and she could also put up a good fight even if her aeons are beaten.

Noctic from 15. I've said it before but Noctis' teleport spam would make any matchup a very dynamic affair. Him being a prince-turned-king also opens him up for another royalty opponent.

To add onto this, Kefka Palazzo from 6. Basically 2nd-place most-popular FF villain behind Sephiroth. Would love to see him get pit against Ashiya Douman/Caster of Limbo, but localizations of Kefka's debut game kinda muddy the perception on the extent of his godhood here to know whether or not it's a stomp. He's claimed to be a "god of magic", but when I asked around about it people have claimed he became Capital-G God.

For Yuna, the best matchup I can think of is Sheena from Tales of Symphonia for a Summoner vs. Summoner battle.

Alright, what Death Battle episode would make the best ERB?

Gojo VS Makima would probably have good bars. Homelander VS Omni-man feel like they’d do pretty good. Miles VS Static already had a rap battle as its soundtrack, as did a few other battles.

I've considered Yuna against Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail myself.

Lucy even gets a power up similar to Yuna's later use of Dress spheres.

The main issue is Yuna doesn't have Dress Spheres and Summons at the same time.

I've also matched up Lucy against Lenna from Final Fantasy V, and Lenna does have summoning and her Job Classes at the same time (in fact summoning is one of her classes, but it's not as important as it is for Yuna).

Pretty sure he's the "God of Magic". He usurped the Warring Triad's power and they didn't create the universe, just magic and espers.

But yeah I didn't think of the FF villains. There's several that can work.
